Tommy Stinson will be interviewed on 93.3 WMMR in Philadelphia this evening between 7 and 10pm (EST).

I'll update this with what he said later, actually I just realized I will be at work at that time, maybe someone else will be kind enough to update this.

This is the second person to be interviewed on the station (and playing a gig in town) since GNR have supposedly been in rehersals.

If someone would be kind enough to rip the stream of this interview, I can host it on my server.

It's 11:00 AM now in Philadephia(?) So the interview is going to be in 8-11hours?

saying that, tommy is a pretty busy guy at the moment so it could just be about him in particular - hopefully this is actually the case because aside from the guns stuff, i wanna hear about the replacements goings on.

Very bold to do an interview in Philly.  I wonder if the station will take calls during the interview.  There are still some very pissed off Philly fans from the 2002 show that need to vent at a GNR guy.  Obviously, we all know that was not Tommy's fault but I don't think it will matter.

i know someone that works at WMMR, so i'm gonna offer some suggestions as far as what to ask. and anyone could call or e-mail questions as well.

that dizzy interview was worthless - asking about when the album is coming out and the leaks is a waste of time.

i would ask the following:

1. some info about their rehearsals
2. who is in the band; is there a search for a 3rd quitarist
3. is there a plan to continue touring through the rest of the year? and if so, is he 100% committed to GnR?

any other ideas??

he's in town for soul asylum. they are playing a show friday night for MMR's spring break party.

the person that is interviewing him is DJ Matt Cord (i think that last name is right) so you could always just look up his email on mmr's site and send questions to him.

and A LOT of people in philly hate GNR now. actually im surprised that this is the second GNR related interview they have done in the past month since MMR bashes guns and axl every chance they get.

A september release date for CD was mentioned by Richard Fortus in an email....How accurate is that date?

will the setlist for the Euro Dates be mostly AFD again? or will we hear more new songs this time around?

Has GnR aquired a 3rd guitarist to replace buckethead or will Richard and Robin handle all guitarist duties?

yeah, but i believe tommy is a friend of matt's or one of the other DJ's at MMR (if i am recall the whole philly mess aftermath correctly) so its not terribly surprising he'd given an interview.

Dizzy already shot these down when MMR talked to him.

I hope he will tell a little bit more than Dizzy "I don't know" Reed. Last time Dizzy was a mockery and I think the DJ was pissed off at the end. Dizzy didn't stop repeating "I don't know", "I don't have a clue", "oh I really don't know"...  ::)

but the rumors still surface, that's why i put that in there : ok: they won't go away no matter who says what :-\

dizzy shouldn't even do interviews, he should know if it wasn't for people's interest in axl or cd no one would even talk to him..

and people still think that crash diet is a chinese democracy tune, but we know this to be false.

the only reason why the rumour keeps circulating is because people on the message boards keep looking for hidden hints on shit that isnt really there.

in case anyone missed the dizzy interview, the only interesting things he said were:

"i feel extremely confident that the album will come out this year..... i dont want to give a release date because i dont want to jinx it."

"i wouldnt beleive anything you read on metal sludge"

and he also confirmed that he was taking a break from hookers n blow to accomodate his GNR rehersal schedule for this spring/summer.

no dude....it shows up on Sludge, and Sp1at and Blabbermouth and other places pick it up and talk about it. Take a look around search Yahoo or Google for news, you'll find something about Duff or Slash joining GnR...of course the boards are gonna talk about it...It's been the only GnR news we've had :P

Tommy and Matt are friends. Tommy did an interview with him in December I believe and that one was quite good - he talked about GnR and possibility of a 'Mats reunion.

Hopefully at the very least he'll clear up the whole Soul Asylum/GnR situation once and for all - be good to have it from the horses mouth.

its a rumour. it keeps spreading because no one is listening to the truth, they are too buy reading into things.

i really dont think its so much the fault of the members as it is the fault of the management. im sure these guys are only allowed to say so much about anything on the gnr front, and the only person that is really allowed to break news is axl. ofcourse weve seen how well that goes.

From the little I know, Tommy seems to be quite respectful of Axl and all things GnR, and would be extremely diplomatic (as in "no comment") if and when put on the spot.  My guess is that GnR will factor in very little during this interview, with Soul Asylum & The 'Mats Reunion being the main topics...

Hope someone asks about Izzy. Since Axl said in January that he recently spoke to Izzy, maybe someone should ask Tommy if Izzy has jammed with the band recently or something similar....

If you look back at the 2002 VMA's interview. When asked "Is CD gonna come out soon?" He answer " I don't know if soon is the word but it will come out.....". Which is true. No CD in 4 years.

Korn Party Interview: "People will hear music this year". And shortly we hear 4 demo leaks.

When he said "we're getting there" means it will come out. Maybe this year, maybe next but it will definitely come out.

The point is AXL always speaks the truth.

We will just have to wait and see.

Matt will probably give a time table once the show starts.  With Dizzy, he said within the 6p to 7p hour.   It was closer to 7 I think.

Tommy will probably say "man, this thing is actually looking like its finally gonna happen".......and/or......"stay tuned, you'll know ALL by the end of Rio".

Axl would do a bit of good to have equipped Tommy with a sneak peak of the album......a little quick sampler......maybe a cut of the first single even.

You'd think at some point someone with a business type mind would want to throw Philly a bone.

tommy is in philly for the soul asylum gig. that is most likely the most of the interview - to plug the sa show. if guns are mentioned, it'll only be given a few moments.

I have had the channel goin' on my computer for the whole afternoon, and I heard they mentioned it for some hours ago I think.
They said there has been rumours the last week of a reunion, and that there had been rumours of a VR breakup is gonna be officially in the comin' days. Then they said somethin' like "Hopefully Tommy Stinson will talk about these thing in this evenings interview" or something.. So it seemed like they were gonna talk a lot about GN'R!  :D

Matt Cord (who is friends with Tommy and doing the interview) comes on at 7:00 (Philly time that is), but he said earlier today that Tommy's flight doesn't get in until around 7 and that he might not be in the studio until 8 or 9, or he may not even show up at all. He said this last bit as kind of a joke, but it is possible knowing the Philly airport. Hopefully, he'll have a better timeframe when he comes on the air, but I otherwise I would expect Tommy after 8. Wouldn't hurt to listen before then though.

I'm in Philly.  Matt's show starts in 15 minutes.  If Tommy's flight is due in around 7, then closer to 9 seems realistic.

Matt will cover Tommy coming on in the first 5 or 10 minutes of his show.

People post on here from all over the world so you have to admit the talk bout local times is very helpful sometimes. You haver a point bout comments on what they playing on the radio though, and calling you a cretin was a bit much. Sorry bout that. I think you coulda took it a bit easier though boss.

Posting the starting time in various timezones is one thing, but when people post "It's 2:30am here and I'm tired", it goes off topic fast....

I don't think so.  It's perfectly fine for an artist to talk about his other projects.  If he only talked about GNR, I'd agree, but a little bit about it wouldn't be a problem, especially something so big.

i am a replacements fan (and obviously a gnr fan), but without bias, im impressed with him. seems pretty cool. and even if he doesnt mention gnr (but i think he will now), he has been entertaining enough.

What a waste of an evening.

I just called the station and talked to Tommy. First I asked if he would be willing to answer any GNR questions and he said no. ?Then I  begged and said that all us GNR fans were starving for info. So he said ok. ?But ?I only asked one question, I didnt wanna be greedy. ?

I asked if anyone was gonna replace Buckethead. ?And someone, mind you there were two guys in the room, said no. ?Someone said Fuck that guy, Robin and Richard smoke Buckethead's balls,. ?Then Im pretty sure Tommy said were gonna bring the rock to you. ?So to confirm I said So Robin and Richard are in and no replacement for Buckethead and someone said nope.

Then I asked for tickets to the SA show tomorrow and they hooked me up. ?

It was a bit of a blur and went pretty quickly but ?I think that Tommy did most of the talking.

I totally agree.   I'm a little suprised, at a minimum, he didn't address the issue upfront.  Something like "we've got exciting times in the months ahead with Gn'R including a kick ass European tour but tonight we are focussing on SA what kick ass stuff we doing, etc.." 

It would have taken 20 seconds.   It would have Kept the GN'R folks happy (mostly) and still put the focus on SA (if that is what he wanted).    I always thought Tommy was the stabilizing new factor of GN"R with everyother part coming and going since '97.   I hope I'm just mis-interpreting the general's comments here.

BTW, the buckethead balls part was pretty funny.

If I'm correct, it should be Matt Cord as the DJ, who is a cool guy & usually asks the questions fans want to know. He interviewed Slash a few months back & Slash stated CD IS coming out & he's heard some of the stuff etc...

Have patience, we will hear the questions about GnR & CD. Hopefully, he gives up some decent info.

This happened last night and Tommy was at the station and I did talk to him.  Many people here heard him on the radio last night.  You dont have to belive me. I frankly dont care.  But at least get your facts straight before you start talking shit.

I've got to say this is probably the worst g'nr related interview ever.

I think you guys are being too hard on Tommy. I'm sure he's got a strongly worded confidentiality clause in his contract with Axl/GN'R. Plus. Axl has been shown to be the litigious type.

Also, it's pretty clear that the whole GN'R machinery is being particularly secretive leading up to the warm-up shows and tour. If that's the way they want to play it... Tommy may feel an obligation (or may actually be contractually obligated) to comply.

Anyway, I always thought of the new members- Tommy always seems to be particularly behind Axl. I wouldn't worry about him unless there was SOLID evidence that Duff was coming back...

i think the secrecy is for a reason, and that reason will make us all incredibly proud to have stuck by axl and this new band all these years :smoking:

Why would he say anything about the NY gigs before confirm with the venue? If it didn't happen, people would bash him a lot more.

The DJ mentioned the NY gigs a while before Tommy came one.  I posted in this thread that he said NY gigs, but everyone though he was talking about Soul Asylum  :hihi:
