Title: Hammerstein Opening Act
Post by: BluesGNR on April 16, 2006, 10:58:24 AM
It looks like Avenged Sevenfold will be playing Hammerstein on the 19th and 20th of May themselves.. maybe they'll be there a few days early to open?

Have u been to many gigs where there has been no opener before?

I've actually wished the same thing on many gigs where I have to stand through crap before seeing what I really wanted to see!

Well, the doors open at 7:30 and the show starts at 9.  Personally, I have a great deal of difficulty fathoming Axl beginning a performance at 9 PM.  I'm betting there's an opening act.

True that! I guess show starts at 9 means show starts at 11 or 12 in GN'R terms!  :)

it isnt as rare as you'd think. and for a b[r]and the size of guns playing a venue of this size i wouldnt be surprising if there was no opening act. there is really no call for them (there isnt really a call for bullet for my valentine any way, but thats not the point) at a venue like this. and considering its solely a limbering up for guns it kinda increases the chances there wont be a support.
but we are all too well aware of axls time keeping skills soits perhaps better to be safe than sorry for management to have a support band lined up to take some of the sting out of any possible delay.

I remember that Vegas HOB doors opened at midnight, I think GNR came on around 3:40 AM.  No opener, but there was some kick ass house music playing  : ok:

Was there an opening band for the Las Vegas gigs?

Not from what the above poster said. Long long time to wait with no opener but hey worth the wait!!

I'd go expecting to hang around until some time in the morning anyway. That and seeing someone kicked out mid-song is part of the package I expect to happen  :D

yea, when you go see gnr, you expect a weight.

it'd almost be disappointing if axl showed up on time.

I would be shocked if their was an opening act. I would be terrified if i had to open up for gnr at a show like this.

honestly I would expect the band to go on sometime between 9-10. Usually Axl starts early in NYC because he knows its an important show and wants to read those reviews when he gets out of the clubs at 5 in the morning before he hits the sack....

fuck an opening act, it such a small show it'll be all die hards ,no one is going to even care about who is onstage before.. I know I'll be drinking beer and bullshitting about gnr and talking to new friends to worry about what band is opening up..

I hope he doesnt get bad reviews and decide to cancel the Weds Show.

If it's A7X, it'll be the best concert in the history of the world (both bands would be amazing in an intimate venue like that)...
