Post by: MR W,AXL ROSE on April 10, 2006, 07:12:33 PM so the band are rehearsing for the upcoming european tour.does this cofirm that they will be playing alot more new songs than old songs.if they were goin to do the setlist from 2002 then surely they wouldnt need that much time to rehearse.do you guys think we can expect only a couple of old GNR songs this time round and maybe 8 new songs?

I hope they play new stuff, but even the old stuff needs rehearsing since the band has played together on the road for less than 6 months since 1998.

But extra time always will make you sound better. They are just making sure that they are really prepared.

Estranged was last played in Germany, second maybe third last show of the UYI tour... I think its most definately retired... Someone will have to retrace the interview, but I know Axl said he would, or could only play Estranged with Slash... But we have gone 3 or 4 months without playing and it still took about 2 weeks to get the tightness back. I think that Axl's voice will take longer to get used to singing in a live setting again, because I am the singer and when I dont sing with the band for a while my voice gets really tired fast. But I think that once you have that connection with the people in the band, you know where everyone's weaknesses are, so it doesnt take that long to get back into the groove.

How long would it take to band to rehearse the songs? I guess as they are all professional musicians it shouldn't take that long, so it will be hard to say whether they are jamming on the old or the new tunes. Besides, if they decided to play some more Illusion tunes, those would be 'new' songs for them as well. They hardly played any UYI songs in 2001/2002. |
