In a billboard article from today it states that tommy will be playing with soul asylum starting in april and continue until august.? This still could mean nothing if none of the dates conflict.? Just thought it was interesting.? Both SA and GNR have shows then. Otherwise he can theoretically do both.

1. Sounds like Tommy is on the SA album...not just touring. However, Billboard said nothing about his Gnr status. My guess is they didn't even look in to it. They are as reputable as you are going to get in music journalism. It is a professional music industry site. The Star Tribune will be extremely accurate in reporting anything Tommy or Mats related. I would be willing to bet they s/w Tommy and confirmed he was still "Gunning". 2. It makes absolutely no sense in the world for Tommy to leave Gnr for SA right now. Most likely, Axl has two albums in the can and Tommy plays on ALL of it...not just one or two songs. SA will never ever ever ever come close to making the money that Gnr will-both records and touring. Tommy will get rich with Gnr, even if only two albums and a few tours are done. SA will barely pay the bills. Tommy is most likely keeping this alive as a back up in case the Gnr thing implodes. Smart from a career standpoint. 3. If Slash/Duff were coming back to Gnr it would have been billed as a reunion tour BEFORE signing show contracts. The amount of money Axl would have asked for would have been alot more. He would have used the reunion as a bargaining tool. In the end, Tommy, like Slash, is rock and roll to the bone. He can pull off two tours....guaranteed. Wouldn't it be nice if somebody from the GnR camp would give us an update? I'm sick of speculating. Nothing adds up anymore. Tommy is going to be totally burnt out if he does both bands' gigs all summer. Sanctuary tell us he is "helping out old friends", but only when it is possible. Michael Bland has confirmed to us that John Fields is being looked at as a possible replacement for Tommy when he is not able to perform with Soul Asylum, but he is not a confirmed replacement (pardon the pun).
