Axl: The first person can play him for me is Johnny Deep cos I saw him in Tom Petty clip years ago. From what I saw He can play Axl best. And he is a total rocker too. He is almost as charismatic as Axl. Also Brad Pitt with long hair and a beard.

Izzy: Sean Penn could be Izzy with a gnr style costume and behaivour.

Duff: Brendan Fraser would be cool ;D

I have read in this months Sky magazine that there is a movie coming out called 'Welcome to the Jungle', does anyone know if this has any connection with Gnr?? I can think of a song that may fit on the soundtrack!

Sadly, if i recall the sage word of Jarmo the film in question is merely the name for the film in Europe (elsewhere in the world it has an entirely different title.) As a consequence (if i remembered correctly) there is no connection with GNR.

Johnny Depp should play Axl. He's a great actor, and he's especially good when he's playing a real person. When he was playing the drug dealer guy in Blow, he spent months with the guy in prison and got everyone of his actions down. Same thing for the undercover cop in Donnie Brasco - he also has high cheek bones and looks quite like him.  Or Adam Sandler, just cos he can do the voice.

De Niro as Duff. He put on like 50 pounds to play the older Jake La Motta, so i'm sure he wouldn't mind putting on 70 or 80 to play mid-nineties Duff.

Hugh Grant to play Slash - dunno why i just thing it would be funny.

Stifler should definetly play steven.

Generally, I'm against movies based on bands.  The Doors movie was horrible, and I don't think any actors in bad wigs will do justice to the band.

I'd much rather see a real documentary on GNR.  I know they have tons of video footage, backstage stuff that has probably never been seen.  I'd like to see something really comprehensive, great live footage from the beginning to the end of their live career, backstage antics, and commentary.

Although, as it stands I doubt they would ever agree to what would be put in there.  Maybe someday.

Axl: DiCaprio or Matt Damon- Both sort of resemble him. espc. Damon, both can play bitchy pri-madonna's as demonstrated in past roles. Mark Wahlberg also not a bad idea but not quite as effeminate as DiCaprio, and doesn't look as much like Axl as Damon.

Slash: Adam Sandler or Lenny Kravitz (Does Kravitz act?)- Sandler because I think he'd be good @ playing a stoner and could probably pull off the look (ie: curly hair, big shnauz) , Kravitz 'cause he looks kinda like Slash. Or if they don't work out how 'bout Ben Affleck if you got Damon to play Axl, that way the whole Axl/Slash buddy chemistry is there in the publics mind w/out any need to have decent acting. Samuel L. Jackson might work as well, just 'cause he's cool as hell.

Izzy: Either Edward Norton or Johnny Depp- Both do brooding well, both have dark hair/ features.

Duff: Maybe Brad Pitt, he's kinda dumb and Duff seems kinda dumb too, it could work. Allready this would be over budget for casting, though, 'cause we've got too many A list people.

Buckethead: That guy who plays 'Jason' in all the Friday the Thirteenth movies, it'd be good if we never saw him out of costume, and he hardly ever spoke, which would make the character more interesting.

Dizzy: Jack Black. No explanation necessary.

Paul Tobias: Either Yoko Ono or Courtney Love.

Robin Finck: David Arquette. He's wierd, so's Finck.

Tommy Stinson: That guy who played Stifler in the American Pie movies, just because.

Drummers: who cares really, just get someone that resembles them.

Yoda (that woman in the desert who's Axl's spiritual adviser): They could get the midget from the Poltergeist movies, she would be perfect!

Man this would make a great movie, I can even see how the screen play would go... Young hick gets picked on a lot... moves to LA- meets up w/ old friend from Indiana, gets involved with lots of drugs, gets involved with famous musician's daughter, meets great Stoner guitarist, becomes biggest band of all time, accused of racism, breaks up w/ musicians daughter to date supermodel, gets dumped by supermodel, starts to go nuts, ruins the band... goes crazy and becomes recluse like Brian Wilson, after failed come back w/ a bunch of wierdos. Ends with him sitting in studio all by his lonesome forever attempting to finish his opus.

This movie could be huge because the story is so interesting (just note how many people are still fascinated by this band despite the fact that they haven't put out a real studio album in over ten years) especially if you could get the casting right.

Somebody needs to pitch this story to the guy who directed 'Singles' and 'Almost Famous'...you know the guy that's married to that woman from 'Heart'. :smoking:

That would make one awesome movie. And I am not kidding at all. I would watch the living hell out of it. The problem is, when/if CD is released the awesome ending is ruined.

I have all confidence it will be released, hell I'm pretty confident in May. And that would really screw up the movie.

I'll be happy, though - when it is out that is. CD is probably the album I am looking forward to the most.

I dont think I'd be keen to see a movie about guns but I'd love to see a feature length documentary following the new band over the last few years. Now that would be cool and it would allow people to get an insight into the new band members and how the recording process for CD has gone! You never know this might happen when the album comes out!

 There isn't any actors who could play Axl. If a movie is ever made, I think they should get an unknown actor to do it. That would be more believeable then having Jim Carrey, Johnny Depp,etc. playing Axl. A bigger question about a GNR movie is: What director could take on such a monumental task? Dont say Quentin Tarentino. He's knee deep in 1970's shit. I would pick David Fincher. I dont know if he's a GNR fan, but I like his style.

a metallica movie would be good. u see the old metallica with mustaine being an asshole and getting kicked out of the band for drug addictions. then they get signed and everythings going great they make 3 awesome albums. and then the tragic death of cliff. then in 1991 they start their commercial music direction and rise to fame. old fans start saying that they sold out. metallica tour with GnR , james gets burnt by pyrotechniques at a concert. the load era starts they cut their hair. the napster thing starts. james alcohol problem gets really bad. jason leaves the band. the band allmost breaks up. met see a shrink after james finishes rehab and then st anger and rob comes in. they thats a great story for a movie. they would probably have make it 3 hours to fit all that in.

I have a bad feeling if a gnr movie was made soon , Vh1 would be involved with it .you can't watch a show these days without axl being bashed. I can just see it in my head . in the movie they would make axl the bad guy ,slash and them? the good guys . like suppose if they filmed a scene for the vma 02 era , before axl would attend a concert he would realize that hes became a has-been(not that i really think he is) and decide not to show up .the next chapter in the movie would be Velvet revolver being formed and becoming famous making them look like they get the last laugh at axl . and before the credits would roll , they'd have a subtitle that would say "chinese Democracy is still not released." remember the behind the music of Gnr last year? They described the realationship of G n' R so dark and depressing. Vh1 done it to Michael Jackson already with the Man in the Mirror movie even tho i don't care about michael jackson. How can someone almost 10 years older than Axl play Axl? Most of the movie will be about Axl in his 20's.....my guess it would have to be a young up and coming actor.....someone we don't know yet.....

Yeah there was a movie based on Kurt's last days hence the title 'Last Days'. It was about a musician struggling with the same sorts of things Kurt was but the movie was horrible. They used the theme relating to Kurt to try and sell it, the movie was awful. A GN'R movie would be pretty cool, as would a Nirvana movie. The last movie i watched that was actually about a band story in its entirety was Vh-1's Def Leppard story it was ok but imo could have been alot better.

Yeah they could have shown all of the debauchery that supposedly happened under the stage then : ok: but who knows that movie Last Days was an HBO movie and the commercials leading up to the movie were misleading as hell, they wanted the viewer to think it was about Kurt and Nirvana. When in fact the basic story line was just based on events in Kurt's last few days.

 I actually quoted that wrong the Def Leppard movie was not based on the whole bands career it basically stopped near the death of Steve Clark.

Over 13 million dollars have been spent in the "soon to be released" project."

GN'R will be in this film. The book covers the MTV / Axl confrontation. No release date has been set.

FYI, I love Nirvana, moreso than GN'R (in general) but I listen to GN'R more often. GN'R makes me happy, Nirvana however is perfection for me when I am angry, sad, etc. However, I dislike Kurt as a persone and he was a complete asshole to Axl. His attack on Axl was completely unprovoked. Nirvana fans tend to not realize that Kurt resented 90% of his fanbase. If you have a degree, kurt will dislike you on pricipal.

Not to sound shallow but ever since seeing the coming attractions for B-Bac MT. Jake Gylanhall has been a bit tainted/typecast to me. In Zodiak I didn't see him as a serial killer, and in Jar Head I didn't see him as a Marine.
As for the 1992 MTVA incident, I don't feel it was significant to Kurt or Axl. Doubtful it will be in the possible movie.

First of all, Jake G. wasn't the serial killer in Zodiac!!  He was a dude who drew cartoons and became obsessed with finding the true identity of the killer.  As for everything else, most of these suggestions suck.
