Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Due to the departure of Buckethead, I don't think GNR will use the same fonts as used in the star logo.  I don't think so because I think that font is something Buckethead brought to the table as you can see the font on his Monsters and Robots CD cover.  Do you guys disagree?

can someone please tell me why someone would bother posting on a thread they claim to find unworthy ? lighten up dude. every thread isn't going to be a hit. i think most people are getting ansy about the upcoming tour and the lack of news the last week or so. i do like the incorporation of the new and old logo's used together.

Yeah, that's something I noticed too. It seemed like they took some of Bucketheads artwork direction for GN'R going by that album cover. Maybe Axl just happened to like the font too?

dont think that font will be used on the Chinese cover. they'll probably go with the original one.

Pretty common font...I doubt the departure of a member has contributed to a fontography debate or else were all in shit and Times New Roman might have gone out the window too!

I hate the font and the new logo. Hopefully they'll change it altogeter when the time comes.

Yeah, i think they'll have a font change.  I think the old logo was because of BH's introduction into the band.

anyway on topic.i think we,ll find a whole new look about the new GNR this year,including logos and fonts.i dont think it will be centred around the chinese theme as much.

I'm guessing that GNR might go for a complete overhaul of logos and fonts again.  Maybe that's why the website hasn't been touched this year.  ;)

Yeah... they need to go with a new logo and everything from '02. That '02 logo/font looked very grunge 1995 to me... plus I ALWAYS think of Philly and how that whole tour went to shit whenever I see it...

Is it true Slash controls the rights to the old logo (i.e. two pistols back-to-back wrapped in roses)? It would be great if they could put togeter some sort of modern version of that logo... just leave out the fake blood they put on the UYI version please...

That would be sweet... maybe a dark crimson rose instead of bright red or whatever... although with my limited knowledge of intellectual property law... I'm pretty sure that wouldn't fly... even with the colors being different... you'd still be using the same mark in the same class that it is registered in... maybe Axl's attorneys could work out a lease agreement with Slash (if he is the actual title holder) where GN'R could pay Slash a fee to use the logo... but chances are that it doesn't make economic sense... I would imagine few people make cd/ticket/dvd purchases based on logos... meanwhile GN'R would be lining Slash's pockets to use the thing... actually, is it just me, or is the whole logo thing dead in music anyway? I remember in the 80's and early 90's I could describe and pick out just about any top band's logo... now I wouldn't have a fucking clue...

Maybe they could revive the "uzi" logo from the Uzi Suicide (I think it's printed on the Lies jacket too... definitely on Live Like a Suicide) label? I've always thought that a GN'R logo with uzis (instead of pistols) would be fucking baddass! : ok:
