Some guy at Metalsludge posted these albums as being better.  He's calling anybody that disagrees with him a GNR nutswinger.     I think this list is a joke   what do you guys think??

I guess it depends on your taste. Some people would find a lot of these albums better than AFD and some would disagree...

gnr is my fav band has been for a great number of years and will be for a very long time but i love iron maiden as well and metallica are great you can't compare those sorts of albums they all have their unique touches id listen to all of them endless times and never get bored but im not going to say they are better than AFD and im also not going to say AFD is better than them (if it is, not by much) they are equal in my minds i say AFD is at the top along with (or very closely followed by) NOTB - Iron Maiden and MP - metallica

So are Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Abbey Road, Rubber Soul, and The Beatles by The Beatles.
Led Zeppelin's untitled album is better than AFD.
I really like Jethro Tull's Aqualung and The Eagles' Hotel California.  I'd probably rank those above AFD.

Guess it all depends on your tastes in music really this guy is obviously biased against GNR we are all probably a bit or in some cases a lot biased towrds GNR but it doesn't make either of us right. We all have our individual opinions and I don't see how 1 person can say his opinion is wrong, although I do think with over 20 million copies of AFD sold worldwide it goes a long way to suggesting he's talking out of his arse? :hihi:

KISS Sucks. Its actually a fact that will be added to the upcoming 2007-2008 edition of websters dictionary. Also their fans are fucking gay. I thought eh, KISS is playing with Smashing Pumpkins, and there is a 3D freak show, how bad could that be? Fucking god awful. I actually got into a fight there (which is unlike me, cause you know, Im a man of peace). I was trying to consume a large amount of beer to make the most of it...just kicking back in my seat. When this fucking fruity ass in KISS makeup starts yelling at us for sitting down. He said "Hey stand up, its Firehouse. Its Firehouse." My friend started laughing at him, and we starting bagging on him, and this dude actually climbed over seats to get to us. Anyway, needless to say that was the best part of the night. To add insult to injury Dodger stadium ran out of beer! Never thought I would see the day that that would happen. Only thing worse then a place running out of drinks was at the Korn/Rob Zombie show at the Pond and they didnt sell drinks at all. And the fucking lame security was giving people way to much shit about smoking bud.

Anyway, its very hard for a rock group to suck as bad ass KISS does. I wish they would all pack into one of their KISS Coffins and bury themselves.

Zepplin is easily the greatest though, and in that I feel fortunate that they didnt make this silly ass list.

Greetings all:

I would like to take a moment to discuss the psychological makeup of the Axl Rose haters and then, as a community, how we, as loyal fans, can best combat them.

Your participation in this thread would be most appreciated. Whether you be a newbie, or a veteran. Now let us begin.

Axl Rose is unique in the fact that he is both equally loved and reviled more passionately then almost anyone else. People familiar with Mr. Rose either love him or hate him. To his loyal fans, he is an almost messianic, Christlike tortured genius. To his detractors he is a woman-beating, homophobic, petty dictator (AMG). While some fans do see the gray and acknowledge both his good and bad points, in the end, people usually either strongly like, or dislike Axl Rose. As of this writing it's been nearly 15 years since GN'R released their last studio album, yet when demos were leaked on the net, it was as though the Chinese were invading. All over the Internet and across the US where the songs were previewed on the radio, fans/non-fans weighed in with their two cents. A decade and a half later, people are eager to voice their opinion.

Few rock/music fans seem to be indifferent about the new songs and the prospect of a new album. People are either excited and drooling at the prospect, or they want to get up on a soapbox and trash Axl Rose senseless. It's as though non-Axl fans would like nothing more than to see him fail.

I will categorize the anti-Axl folk into three categories:

(1) The old-school gunners -- The "If Slash isn't there, it's not GN'R" crowd.
(2) The Mullet-heads-Still stuck on the Crue and Ratt, most aren't sophisticated enough to appreciate the brilliant Illusion albums.
(3) The Morrisey/Westerbeg crowd- These folks tend to post at the Velvet Rope. Elitist, pseudo intellectual types who regard "Chinese Democracy" as the "buttock 'Smile,'" Perhaps our greatest foe, these people tend to think that their shit doesn't stink and are perhaps the most vehemently Anti-Axl and self-righteous.

When "Chinese Democracy" drops, it's going to drop big-time. On all boards, everywhere, people are going to go nuts. I honestly predict it will be as divisive and heated as the 2004 American Presidential election.

All of this taken into consideration, the question is asked, what is the role of us, the few, the proud, the hard-core fans...What are we to do? How do we challenge and immobilize the people that want Axl to fail? Do we have a broad-reaching plan of action for all three above anti-Axl groups? Or do we have a special strategy for each?

Why should we care? What is the point of standing up for Axl? I will tell you. While most music/rock fans have strong opinions, the media, which will influence the general public, are up for grabs. The media must know that Axl Rose is supported, which will help the band in the long-run. We must let it be known that we like "Chinese Democracy," and we must yell louder than the anti-Axl contingent, because they will yell very loud indeed.

GN'R/Axl fans, speak your mind...

I'll say this before and I will say it again, I am all for standing up for Axl if he is being unfairly torn apart on other forums. If you actually took the time to read the post, you will see that.

If someone doesn't like the new album or the new songs, fine. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. But if people in here or any other boards hit Axl below the belt, they are sure as hell going to hear about it from me, although I will of course be civil about it, as I think all posters should be civil when expressing their POV.

I never felt that way more until gnr was over... The new verion to me shows a person that he might be the one who was most but not all to blame.. Others have showsn they can move on and enjoy playing.. Since axl has had the new band so far it's been pretty disasterous.. Lack of info, failed tour, no albums, clueless band members, years of MIA axl rose... The list can go on, point is axl is regardless of his talents seems to cause delays.. Maybe if he was different BH would still be there and rio 3 would have started the new beginning

Why do you think Axl didn't move on and enjoy what he's doing now?

To me it seems like he does what he wants to do without anybody telling him what to do and when.

He didn't play any shows in 2003-2005, maybe he didn't want to. He doesn't have to you know....

Jarmo gnr is a long time period. I don't have to fit into every asspect of what a gnr fan should be to be a fan.. When I watch sports I get on the team I like or the individual person who I feel is dropping the ball.. I am not one that just praises if I feel someone is screwing up..

I said today I am an axl rose fan but feel he has spent to much time away or leaving us with little info..

In 87, they released AFD even though it was raw and not perfect, from 96-2006 Axl's been a perfectionist.

The fact is, the fans are holding on to the Axl of 87,88 when the only thing about him thats the same is his name.

If you want to claim to be a perfectionist, act like one.  Give perfect live performances and make sure you have perfect attendance.  This has never been the case.

Yea find me a quote from Axl where he calls himself a "Perfectionist." And Axl is certiantly not your typical boring ass front man. He is almost a throwback kind of like Morrison, and personifies that badmotherfucking rocker at almost every show. Him being late or whatever is actually part of his charm. He is unpredictable. I dont know about you, but every GNR show I have ever been to, I was flipping out when Axl did eventually come on, or the show happened. But they were all great and that added a lot to it. You like paint by numbers. Axl has never played anything safe. But musically, and the leaks are certaintly an example, that his music done his way, is never compromised.

of course, after that little incident in Philly, i won't be waisting any more of my time at their concerts
unless, I was seeing them in NYC, cause Axl always shows up in NY
and MSG is the most convienant venue in the world to get to, and if Axl doesn't show, bars in NYC close at 5am so there is plenty to do and it won't be a complete waist of time

The Iron Maiden albums come the closest, however.  I don't understand why Skid Row is on there...they are formulaic 80's metal, although pretty good.

Why should I be ashamed, I dropped plenty of cash when I went to see axl at msg.... I've been spending thousands on gnr my whole life sticking up for every member all along the years (well more like87-94).. I always said axl was coming back and axl was going to do this.. I defended the shit out of axl after the vmas, I did everything a fan would..  Just maybe being you never met me or know anytjhing about me you should understand that maybe I changed a bit since the NA tour.. The man had me so excited when everything seemed to come together that night, great performance, kick ass crowd, axl was happy, etc..  Then wham the fucking tour ended the next night with no explanation... I've always felt that axl could have issued a statement to why the tour ended like that, maybe even apologize to the fans regardless of the lawsuits.. Since when did axl worry about sayng something, since when was he scared to talk to the fans?  I was also at the 2002 CD world tour... The world tour named after an album usually means an album too... One minute the guy is in europe saying after the first album drops you'll have another and another,,,, So after all the years of defending axl's eevry move I said fuck this, I'm getting to a point where I realised he is the cause of most of his prolems.. 

I have said I love the song better, citr is a cool tune, maddy n the blues as well... I just don't get super excited these days anymore, it's just not in me to act the same as I did when I was growing up along sde of gnr ..... SO for me I have nothing to be ashamed of.... SOme people on the forums are above being fans, they applaud anything axl puts his voice to...  The gnr fan forum at times can be like the trl crowd, or that sometimes they are more like paula abdul and I am more like simon .. If I think something is great I will tell you.. Maybe some of you feel a good song or something is worth the wait, I personally don't think anything worth such a wait.. That still doesn't mean I won't enjoy the shows, or buy the new t shirts or the album.... It just means I don't get as excited as others... I hope the new tour dates are a sign of thing sto come.... I am also sorry BM that I feel there should be a single out to introduce new music and let the average joe know axl is back..

I think you'll find a lot of fans favourite GN'R work is in fact songs like Coma, Breakdown, Estranged, Madagascar.. all written in the 90s and 00's.

well, 3 out of 4 were written in 90's....
my guess would be, most of the fans of GnR are fans because of AFD and UYI; not the 4 tracks that leaked

comparitivly speaking I like Coma, Breakdown, and Estranged better than anything I've heard from the new band

You like the entire track of Breakdown more then the 4 leaks? Do I have that right? I say the entire track, because the last half is utter shit. We have had countless discussions on this. But it sheds some light on you and paints a pretty clear image of where you are coming from.

You said much of this before, and much of it has been discredited by your exchange with Jarmo. You dont exactly tell it like it is, and you tend to dodge issues that aren't going your way.

All of us want a single out now and the fucking album. That doesnt make you special dude. We all want the new music. And yea, it should probably come before these live shows start. But these are things you and me have no control over.

I ask you this. If you don't dig the new tracks that have been leaked, why are you here? Personally, I love the shit out of them. Not for any of your recent adjectives to describe some fans either. I genuinely think they are among the best music I have heard in years. They made me crave CD so much more its ridiculous. They restored faith too. Faith that the man knows what he is doing, and that he's still got it.  If you don't like them much, then you undoubtedly not like CD much. So why bother? Why come here and be a downer to those like me who are excited by what we are hearing and share in the excitement for CD. You do know you are being a downer when you talk shit about fans who are excited about the music they love.

I agree, the leaks restored some of my faith.  Because I wasn't fond at all of the earlier songs we heard.  At least we have that in common : ok: Though i don't think I like them as much as you do :o

I was about to type, pretty much, exactly what you did, above..Hell, even the albums listing would have been basically the same.

There are better albums than AFD, but not many.  Most of the ones on the MetalSludge posters list are not them.  Most of them are not even "as good as".

I'd tell the guy accusing everyone who disagrees of being a "gnr nutswinger" that only a "gnr hater" would post such nonsense.
