Title: Modern Day Fashion Post by: Markus Asraelius on March 20, 2006, 04:05:32 PM Okay, so here's a topic that shoulden't get very political.
I've been looking up things on the history of clothing and the material that was used and everything and noticed that nowdays, us men and women wear more simple clothing and the theme of today's clothing is more slanted towards sexuality that anything nowdays. I mean in all types of clothing~ Let's take a man for example, He can wear just regular t-shirts but he can also go out in a thin sleaveless undershirt. Then, next a man can wear simple jeans or he can even go for cute shorts, whether they're down to the knees or not. And after that, it's shoes + socks. And before I forget, the're is the man's underwear and they're are all kinds of underwear a man can wear nowdays. There is breifs, boxers, boxer-breifs, bikini underwear, thongs, etc... But, there is even some guys (I forgot what the word is) that choose to not wear underwear. So as you can see from my example, fashion nowdays has become very sexually-oriented for the man and the woman. *** As for the woman, I'm not going to go piece by piece but with a girl, the're are a lot more combinations and possibilities of what a woman can wear than a man. But, with what the girls in the hip-hop videos wear, it's clear that the're are many different ways that society can influence us on what to wear alone. There was actually this book by this father and he talked about how girls dress nowdays and how he wanted to put a stop to things like say a 10 year old girl with a short skirt shaking her a** and so on like that. I think he does have a very solid point there though. I mean if she is that young and wants to dress like so and so she sees on the t.v., it could be a problem. *** Anyways, I created this thread to see A) How people thought about the growing trend of fashion being slanted towards sexuality B) How parents are having to deal with their young girls (and some boys I guess) wanting to dress like their idols that they see on the t.v. or in concert or whatever... Seriously though, it's a thing that I really hate to see when I go to the Avalon Mall. A bunch of little girls running around with their bits and pieces half exposed. Then these skeety older guys go over and hit on them and shit. It's really disgusting. And now there's talk of a teenage prostitution ring here, and I'm like "no shit, they're dressing like whores!" I mean, come on... if I had a daughter, she would never be allowed to leave the house dressed like that. I wouldn't even let her go out with friends who dress like that. You're just asking for trouble. I'm glad you brought it up here, cause it's something that's been irritating me here in Newfoundland a lot and I was wondering if it was happening anywhere else. I haven't seen many guys wearing anything revealing. The preteen and teenage boys usually wear music hoodies, touques, and long baggy jeans. Title: Re: Modern Day Fashion Post by: WeHeldTogether on March 21, 2006, 01:13:03 PM I think the fact that older guys are hitting on the young girls because of the clothing is a problem. Like, for example, an 18 year old hitting on a 14 or 15 year old. That could lead to problems with the girl (drugs, pregnancy...etc)

Yeah, in my first post I was mainly talking about how both men and women pre-teens, teens, adults, etc...are dressing more sexy (I guess is the word to use) now than they have been at any other time. Actually, I was reading about the history of guys' undergarments too and they use to wear something called a cod-piece for undergarments and in the early days, their nuts would be hanging out so they had to make them longer. It was kind of funny reading it. *** But, as far as a prostiution movement among teenage girls, I think that's horrible. I don't think anything like that is going on here in Salt Lake City, Utah unless SLC Punk has some secret classified information he wants to share with me about it.? ;D Title: Re: Modern Day Fashion Post by: axl_rose_700 on March 21, 2006, 07:48:46 PM I think the fact that older guys are hitting on the young girls because of the clothing is a problem.?
