According to a World Entertainment News Network story that was posted on a Clear Channel radio station in Battle Creek, MI the new GNR album is slated to drop next month.? After going to a few different Clear Channel affiliates it appears that they use this London based news wire for content.? If Clear Channel is contracting with this company for news it must have some level of credibility.?

This is just speculation on my part but perhaps the GNR camp and label have been so tight lipped about the album coming out to help prevent it from being pirated as long as possible.? The longer they wait to service press, radio, and regional sales reps with advance copies of the album the less likely the album is to leak prior to the release date.? ?This may be a possible reason as to why we haven't seen the long sought after press release.

though it could be true, a release date could get leaked out to someone just like the demos, its hard to keep things a secret forever in the information age, but i wont hold stock in it until i see it show up on more sites, in more radio programs.

I have a feeling that the demo's were released to sidetrack us, and others, prior to the release date. There's a reason Axl is hanging out in NYC.

i just wasnt sure because in clear channels other businesses section of their corp. website it makes no mention of cc.

No worries.  Clear Channel spun off their concert promotion company (Live Nation) into its own entity in 2004.  If you click on the privacy policy on cc.com you will find this:

I hear ya.  This doesn't guarantee they're accurate on this one but at least its not like "Joe Blow's Fanzine" floating a rumor they heard from a friend of a friend of a cousin.

With so many sites reporting this, there might be some validity, but website tend to copy stories from eachother too and being a GN'R fan, I am as pessimistic as always : ok:

You can always release a (finished) album on iTunes tomorrow. Needs no promotion.

I would think there would be some sort of press release two months before. A single will come out like six weeks before an album, right? The new Pearl Jam and RHCP are comming out in the summer and we have heard about them. If CD was going to be released next month, I would think we would have heard something by now.

I won't believe anything until I open the HTGTH home site and I see "Chinese Democracy Release Date Officially Announced" or "Chinese Democracy to be released (date)" and then when I click on it I want to see a viable source.

It be great if another Axl interview pops up and he says that "Soon is not the word"... This place would erupt!

It is the exact same story for each of those four sources you posted. As any watcher of CSI will tell you, contamination of a sample renders the sample worthless.

I am very skeptical.  Unless a major media outlet picks this up, the veracity of this story is very dubious.

Is GNR still connected to Clear Channel? I think they are trying to avoid CC in Europe and maybe there's some lawsuit of the whole 2002 thing, so I thought they were not in the cast anymore.

i think that gnr with a hype as big as theres it would do them more favours to just drop teh album onto shelves with no warning a hype might encourage more leaks and ruin the album

ok guys, remember i told you about rock am ring like a few weeks ago,at the beginning of all the ferstival announcment, cause someone had contact to the organizers of rock am ring. well, he said an announcment for CD will be made pretty soon..

At first I thought that Axl would do a handful of these festivals as like promotional/warm up. Then go to the US when he album is out or announced as he wouldn;t tour there again without an album after 02. Holy shit.. after MORE shows in Europe just announced, I'm starting to think we might just have a single within the next couple of months or at least by these shows!!!!!

Certainly a better source than most, lets hope they are right.

Just my opinion but I don't think we are going to see a single until at least the shows have started, the reason I think this is because the band will obviously have a video to suppport the single and whilst I know this is a new band GNR singles generally showed the band performing live in some part of the video. I also think this would be a great way to introduce the band to the world, a kickass song with a video of them performing at least some of it live. I don't think they will use old 02 footage, so my guess is that after a couple of shows the footage of band playing what will be the first single is compiled and turned into at least some of the singles video. Just my thoughts on why we might not see anything until after the shows begin.

Even if that's the case if we have a first single in June or July and a CD release date I don't mind the April rumour not being true. I can wait an extra 2 months  :peace:

I was always under the impression that CD is going to be marketed different than any album before it.  So, from a piracy and shock standpoint, it would be in GNRs best interest to release an album with little warning.  I'm still holding out for a single in April, and an album in May. : ok:

the bigger this tour gets the more i believe that CD will be out before Rock In Rio.id go with a mid may release now.

as for piracy,its gonna be close to the release date before anybody can get hold of this album but im sure it will spread way faster than any album has ever done.as for me,ill be buying mine on release day and DEFINETLY NOT DOWNLOADIN IT. : ok:

In all honesty, if it is scheduled for release and it leaks the week before, I will wait.

If it leaks with no sign of release, I will definately download it.

If there is a special iTunes version, which there will be, I will buy that.

If there is a collectors edition, which there will be, I will buy that too.

as for buying the album,ill also buy the singles,videos,t shirts,mugs,socks,caps,table cloths,mouse mat,clock,garden furniture,dining table,tree,car,shops,houses,fields or anything else that comes with an authentic official chinese democracy logo  :hihi:

I will download the album first before i buy it. Just in case it's no good. I download every album these days for this reason. The lastest album from Garbage [bleed like me] sucked so much. Placebo's latest album [meds] is really something, its more of the same, which isn't a bad direction to take, so when my downloaded [inferior mp3] version stops playing, i will go out and buy the proper compact disc [better then mp3] version. I think this way i can justify my download antics without feeling like i am ripping off artists or record companies. Before the dawn of downloading, there were many a times when id go out and pick up a new record only to find 1 good track on the whole god dam thing.

i really hope they go all out with the packaging/booklet etc etc for the album.  : ok:

i download ALL my music. ?But there are only two bands I will buy from: obviosly I will be buying Chinese Democracy, and I will be buying Pearl Jam's new cd in May. ?But unless those two bands put out more material, its back to downloading for me.

I have not bought any CD since 1997 when we had access to download them online and the quality almost the same as the original. But if C.Democracy is released, I will buy them even for $100.
