Title: scandinavian shows
Post by: Rock the jungle on March 19, 2006, 07:47:40 PM
I just wonder how many people are allowed to enter in the concert places, because always sold out in scandinavia but maybe the places aren't big enough. There's no doubt that GN'R is followed by milions of people but sold out two days in the same place is a lot!!! Maybe the GN'R culture in Scandinavia is much more bigger than Spain almost certanly sure... I just would like to know the maximum number of people allowed to be in the concert place and then make comparisons with Barcelona

The Hartwall Arena in Helsinki holds about 12000 people for concerts, so a total of 24000 tickets were sold out. Is that a little or a lot compared to spanish arenas?

And that's 12k venue for a nation of 5.2 million people.

Just to give some perspective.

Oslo Spectrum can hold between 8-9 thousand, so it's not a big place, we have two arenas that take a lot more (Valle Hovin, where GnR played in 93 in front of 30-35000, and ValHall (30-40000 capasity) , but Oslo only have a population of half a million, and Norway in total is 4,5 millions, so its all good.

The musical awareness of Finnish people has risen a lot in the past few years. Sigur R?s and Mew also sold out their concerts in less than 10 minutes and had extra-shows announced. When Metallica visited Finland on their St Anger tour they filled the Olympic Stadium that holds a capacity of 45 000 people. Almost one percent of Finnish population saw the show. I bet Gn'R could have easily done the same.

Valhalla (Old Norse Valh?ll, "Hall of the slain") is Odin's hall in Norse mythology, the home for those slain gloriously in battle, (known as Einherjar), who are welcomed by Bragi and escorted to Valhalla by the valkyries.

Globen, Sweden takes 16 000 people. But I think they just released/sold 13 000 tickets to the GN?R show.

Beats me. I just bashed someone who said he felt some anxiety after hearing it's not the original lineup... And to think that VR played here last year... Dumbasses!

But obviously enough people know the brand in general to make record ticket sales!  : ok:

(I can smile now that I have a ticket...  ;D)
