Title: Observer Music Monthly Blurb on new tracks Post by: philspectorshotme on March 19, 2006, 03:44:57 PM the OMM is a suppliment which comes with the observer newspaper. for those that dont know, its audience is left-wing, scarf wearing, hipper than thou 'liberal' sect who have been weaned on the most godawful (morrissey is on this months cover) 80s indie wank (paul morely is a contributor which should tell you just about all you need to know).
anyway, at the start of the book there is a barometer of what is up and what is down. anyway, gnr are the first rung of the downers under the title of 'wilting rose': "finally, that new guns n roses album is about to come out, but on the evidence of the tracks leaked on the web, we feel axl rose might have been advised to wait even longer" aside from the terrible grammar (though the lack of capitals is my work - the rest is as it is), dont get too alarmed by this. like i said, its only yuppie poseurs (a glastonbury crowd) who put any stock into anything rags like this have to offer (and do you really want those people as gnr fans?). these are the kind of people that failed to look past the image and november rain to see the greatest punk band since the new york dolls. theyre idiots and theyre welcome to their middle of the road, 'elitist' nonsense. but be warned, this is a foreshadowing of what most of the media will have to say about axl and the new stuff. as you well know its only a few mass media sections that can get past the bullshit to realise just what gnr were and possibly still are. (oh, and sorry if its been posted - did a search, couldnt find anything). edit: and only now ive seen the stickied topic. what an idiot. Title: Re: Observer Music Monthly Blurb on new tracks Post by: kunzerd on March 19, 2006, 04:01:57 PM yeah, new gnr tracks seem to be getting really mixed reviews and the opinions seem to be polar opposites.
on a positive the blacks love madagascar and better ?: ok: axel rose: bridging the racial divide Editors Note: Kunzerd's use of the possibly derrogatory term "the black's" was meant solely for comedic effect and is not in anyway meant to offend anyone. he would like to further point out that, even though he is very white, he could not garner such an opinion from 'the black's' with out being freinds with them. ? Title: Re: Observer Music Monthly Blurb on new tracks Post by: nonlinear on March 19, 2006, 04:38:05 PM yeah, new gnr tracks seem to be getting really mixed reviews and the opinions seem to be polar opposites. on a positive the blacks love madagascar and better : ok: axel rose: bridging the racial divide Editors Note: Kunzerd's use of the possibly derrogatory term "the black's" was meant solely for comedic effect and is not in anyway meant to offend anyone. he would like to further point out that, even though he is very white, he could not garner such an opinion from 'the black's' with out being freinds with them. the blacks? and the silly "editor's note" doesn't justify that comment either. i suggest that you learn how to SPELL and WRITE before generalizing about the group you call 'the blacks' >:( Title: Re: Observer Music Monthly Blurb on new tracks Post by: Axl_owns_dexter on March 19, 2006, 05:28:09 PM I'm more upset that he couldn't spell Axl right. Come on people, you claim to be fans and you can't even spell his god damn name right.

I think the new "tracks" are great. After all, it is just music. Some people think the world is going to stop when this album comes out. It is going to be a great album for people who like his music. The songs sound like exactly where he left off, like they could be on UYI (Twat and citr) at least. We like axl and gnr, so we will like the album. There are only so many notes he can play. I really dont know where this high standard is. Like it took him 12 years because he was inventing something new. To those of us who have waited, we will just apreciate his talent and voice, and for those who feel a need to ridicule everything he does, FUCK EM! Title: Re: Observer Music Monthly Blurb on new tracks Post by: oneway23 on March 19, 2006, 06:11:14 PM Freddie, I really think you cut right to the heart of the matter...At the end of the day, it's all about appreciating the vision and simply enjoying whatever it is that they choose to present, whenever that may be. There will be moments that we love, others perhaps not so much, but we will value the songcraft and the passion, if nothing else.

Based on his conduct in showing up at kunzerd's home, kunzerd was hopeful that axl's music would live up to ray's pronouncements that the music could reach out to the african american market and bring in a whole new audience to enjoy gnr. Unfortunately not everyone read kunzerd's statement as such. i am going to take this final moment to reiterate that i have several african american freinds? and in this circle of freinds we use the term 'the blacks' as a way to actually poke fun at racist attitudes, because the best way to truly fight something is to turn it into a joke. Title: Re: Observer Music Monthly Blurb on new tracks Post by: godiva on March 20, 2006, 06:43:46 AM well, back on topic (i'll take Kunzerd's word on it he didn't mean any disrespect), that little mention in the paper..... well, you can't win em all, can you? On the whole, I think the press hasn't been as negative as I thought they would be over these leaks. Some reviews have even been positive. They mainly bitch about the album taking that long. But don't we all? :hihi:
I hope we get a release date soon and some real reviews. Let's be honest here: reviewing leaks just isn't the real thing. Who knows how old these demos are? Maybe the songs sound way different these days. Imagine that: European tour, band plays TWAT or Better and GNR fans going: no no no, that is not the way it's done. There is supposed to be a solo now..... I know, I heard the demos! :hihi: :peace: |
