Title: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: JAC185 on March 18, 2006, 07:23:47 AM For those that don't check Matt's forum i thought that some people might want to hear this as it sounds cool to me.
Matt posted: HAD A GREAT DAY IN DRAC STUDIOS TODAY WORKING WITH DUFF ON SOME SONGS, WE ARE COMING UP WITH SOME BREAKTHROUGH STUFF. I'M GETTING EXCITED. ONE SONG SOUNDS LIKE ACROSS BETWEEN ZEPPELIN AND PRINCE WHICH DUFF LOVES PRINCE. GREAT RIFF FOR SLASH. TODAY WE DID ONE THAT IS VERY HEAVY WITH A SICK GROOVE. WITH SOME SYNTH KEYBOARD PART. ALA A BAND CALLED REFUSED WHO WE ALL DIG. Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: Irish rose on March 18, 2006, 07:36:38 AM I'm lookin forward to this album, Contrband sounded like they wanted to stray away from the Guns sound to prevent alienating Scott....I think we will hear more of what we loved in Guns on this record

Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: makane on March 18, 2006, 08:17:57 AM Theyre growing very high expectations.
Hopefully they can deliver it too : ok: Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: mikegiuliana on March 18, 2006, 08:51:05 AM Prince meets zepplin, was never a big fan of prince in general but he can play guitar very well.. I am just glad they are giving a play by play as they work.. nice to get the feel of what is going down.. It's a fan's dream, well at least mine to have the band share as they create..
Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: Eugene Klein on March 18, 2006, 10:10:27 AM Matt sounds very enthusiastic about it. I remember they mentioned one of Refused's albums as a favorite a couple of years ago, because of the drum work.
Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: jameslofton29 on March 18, 2006, 11:12:05 AM This sounds great. I had a feeling their second album would be amazing, and Matt's description makes me really anticipate this album. Even though I didn't like CB, I knew these guys could come up with something great. I think CB was rushed, and thats why it isn't as good as it could've been.
An observation: I've noticed that people completely ignore me in this section. I guess I've pissed off all the VR freaks who didn't like some of the things I said in the GNR section. Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: mikegiuliana on March 18, 2006, 11:39:44 AM I don't think anyone is ignoring you, there's just nothing to respond to.. Well just like the new gnr has their freaks this section has em too.. I hate nutty one side fuckers anyways

Are you saying my posts aren't worthy of a response? :hihi:But I dont say much in the VR section, so I can see why people just ignore my posts. I pretty much say the same thing anyways: Didnt like CB much, but looking forward to the next one. I'm like a broken record over here. :hihi: Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: mikegiuliana on March 18, 2006, 11:56:05 AM I don't think anyone is ignoring you, there's just nothing to respond to.. I just want guitar rock Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: kaasupoltin on March 18, 2006, 12:05:26 PM Sounds grrrrreat

Eventhough I like it, I admit it was rushed and could have been much better. However YGNR and Slither sound pretty good for the short amount of time. That would be more my cousins in their mid to late 30's.. Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: Origen on March 19, 2006, 05:23:41 AM Sounds great to me, I think the one thing CB was missing most was varieties, this is why the next album sounds great with lots of experimentation on it.
And it was a good sign that he said there was a great riff for Slash on there. Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: WARose on March 19, 2006, 01:32:48 PM sounds like he`s trying to build up anticipation...
i hope VR`ll deliver a great record this time... zeppelin sounds cool to me :peace: Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: jarmo on March 19, 2006, 04:58:21 PM TODAY WE DID ONE THAT IS VERY HEAVY WITH A SICK GROOVE. WITH SOME SYNTH KEYBOARD PART. ALA A BAND CALLED REFUSED WHO WE ALL DIG. They mentioned Refused in interviews before Contraband was released too.... "Illegal Eye,"...McKagan compares to "a Refused song, like an older punk rock song." http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?topic=11898.0 Remains to be seen if it's that much different from Contraband. /jarmo Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: metallex78 on March 19, 2006, 06:12:31 PM Well aside from the Refused influence, I think a Zeppelin/Prince style song would be quite different to Contraband, I don't really recall anything on CB to sound like Led Zeppelin.
Really looking forward to this album. Title: Re: Matt+Duff working on new album (Matt's forum) Post by: tomass74 on March 20, 2006, 08:21:26 AM Sounds great to me, I think the one thing CB was missing most was varieties I have heard a couple peopel say that but I really don't see it... I thought there was alot of variety. There were straight up Gunsish hard rock tunes like STB and DLT.. Then there classic acoustic and almost psychadelic tunes like Alien and YGNR. STPish songs like Ilegal I song and Big Machine. Cheese like FTP lol.... I definately find Superhuman quite unique also... That being said, I think we will see alot more on the next album... |
