First of All soorry bout my english.have you ever tryn to sing just like Axl.in Falsetto ways.I do.for 10 years.n' never works. :-[ ,Im from Indonesia.I have a covered band,we played guns for 7 years.Is there any covered band who can plays guns just like Axl.I mean the vocal range.Soorry Stupid Question.sorry my English Sucks.

In response to the second part of the question... I've never heard any tribute band who can sing like Axl.  He's got the most unique singing voice in the world.  Well, next to Ozzy and Brian Johnson.  It's so weird, he's got such a raspy and rough sounding voice and hits all these retarded notes.

Funnily enough, I think I can sing a bit like him...not as good obviously, but the same pitch.? I think Axl does NOT have a falsetto voice, its sort of in the point between what a falsetto is and normal.? Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I consider his voice to be!

Edit:  Although the 2002 voice was falsetto, i think!

There's a GUNS Covered band in my country.They called Illussion park.the vocalist can sing falsetto just like Axl did.i can't believe it,if i dont see them LIVE :o.but his english very sucks.but I love them. ;)

When I'm REALLY drunk I do a pretty good Axl - I did a great "DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE FUCK YOU ARE!!!" at the bar last night when Jungle came on (I put it on the juke box - live era).  Everyone laughed though, so I guess it was more lame then cool haha

Oh man, I've been half tempted to post a tribute that me and my friend did a few years back, many a time. ?It just sounds so awful. ?He played a mean acoustic guitar in there, but my vocals are terrible. ?It was all in good fun though.

I sang patience at an open mic night when I was in college - it was pretty awesome until the end...just couldn't hit some of the "WHOOOOAAAAAAAA I NEED YOU".....voice cracked and shit - crowd thought it was great though (mostly all my friends).  I closed it out nice though.  I think I still have that on tape somewhere.

If you give me long enough, I can usually impersonate anyone's voice.  I can do a mean Axl.  There are only a couple of songs I have trouble with but that is probably because they would take time to work on.

I hear in some country they have 26 GNR songs ready at any karaoke venue.
Their karaoke machine marks your singing.
It is so hard marker that original singers can't get good scores.
Axl should try it!

I don't know why but I can get my voice just like the guy. Sometimes I prefer my own moving renditions of GNR hits to some of the live versions. I can definately sing longer then Axl can live, like on Coma I have no problem singing the whole end, like the album version ,where axl is totally out of breath. Im in a band and we cover Welcome to the jungle, but our version sucks, because the instrumentals are so bad.

For the record, Axl does most of his upper-register singing in what musicians call the 'head voice'.  It's not from the gut like a chest voice, but it packs more wallop than the falsetto.  Kind of a middle-of-the-road.  Obviously, Axl has developed his in a rather unique way, thus ensuring his legend.

back around the time estranged came out we would get drunk at the beach and two friends would lift myself or whoever wanted to be lifted out of the water to duplicate the slash solo on water..

I can do a decent imitation of his voice, but not for long, because my voice get hurt (I smoke as well) and cannot continue more than 4-5 minutes...  Axl's voice is very unique, and original, when he is at his best, nobody can say he is a bad singer, but he gets tired as well, with all the running, and shit like that.

plus he's getting older...   That running will really take it's toll... He might be running backstage more for air..

My PC mic is decent, but it came with the PC, so it isn't top quality when it comes to high pitched singing.  I am usually too close to it. 

you guys made me remember something Axl said about how he was pleased with how he sang November Rain... something about singing it in a tone that would make anyone feel like they could sing it.

well... i kind of get what he means and I agree.... he sings it so effortlessly-like...  so relaxed...  I love his voice on that one... close to his 'natural' speaking voice.... 

as for the other 7 octaves he can sing in...   can't touch that and I know it!

I tried to sing like Axl Rose just now, for the first time. A bit of awhye-whye-whye-aye (where do we go now?) and I sounded great. I'm never doing it again though.

Am I the only one who thinks that his voice sounds higher now than it did before? I've noticed the same thing with Michael Jackson, he has a higher voice now than back in the 80s.

I can do It's So Easy, KOHD, songs like that, but not the screamers.  Hell, I try going high, but no sound comes out! :hihi:

The hardest songs he does are the ones where his voice is all over the place.  By this I mean high, then low, then back to high again.  Those are the most difficult to duplicate.

I remember this guy at a karaoke bar tried to sing "Sweet Child Of Mine" it was horrible. I couldn't  sing like Axl it's a very very unique voice.

I try to sing like Axl every single day when I drive to work with my ipod.  I really sound more like John and John from They Might Be Giants, so you can imagine what it's like to ride in my car with me.  My wife won't tolerate it.

My normal speaking voice is as deep as Axl's was back in the day, so it's pretty easy for me to sing like him

i have just for fun though such as the Better intro the "No one ever told me when i was..." etc. My friend says i'm good at some Axls imitations better than others. He said i'm good at singing outta get me like him

my friend told me some technique. to put your head in the water and scream louder with your falsetto voice.about ten times a day.it,s kinda stupid but i ve been doin it for about 4 year.almost everyday.for the first time its hurts my throat alot.but now kinda better.i can sing WTTJ without getting my throats hurts. when i focus singing sometimes i sounds like the guy.

Sorry...don't mean to be a dick...but are saying that you've been soaking your head in water and screaming into it ten times a day, almost every day for the past 4 years? Are you a singer by trade or do you do this just so you can sound like Axl? Sorry, I just find it a bit curious is all.

I practice everyday ;D I think it's payin off. I don't think I sound like Axl or are nearly as good. But I have been getting compliments for my singing voice latley and singing along to Guns everyday all day I think has got a lot to do with that : ok:

I sang Used to Love Her with my fiends band one day when they were just messing aorund. they were like "Holy shit! You gotta do that with us on open jam night"   I was supposed to last night but I chickened out. I want to but I'm scared to put myself out there. :nervous: I promised I'd do it next time(two weeks). I think I can pull it off as long as I just don't hold back and go for it.  I'd go more for the live sounding version off the double live album. Scratchy and rough.  There was a band who did some original hard metal songs last night though and I did do a long Axl type scream at the begining of one of their songs and I got a few cheers for that but to actually sing lyrics I'm scared. :hihi:

Nothing I guess. Worst case scenario is I get ragged on by my buddies and told not to quit my day job.  :rofl: I used to sing in front of crowds when I was young(grade 5 and 6) all the time and I did sing in a church choir(just like Axl lol). the last time I sang in front of a crowd was in 1999 on Canada Day in front of about 2000 people. There was a band playing covers down on the lake before the fireworks. I told them if they did Song 2 by Blur I'd sing it.  They did and I did. It was fun and people seemd to dig it.  I suppose I should be encouraged that my buddies in the band want me to do Used to Love Her. If they thought it was shit they wouldn't ask me to so..... I'll probably do it in a few weeks.

I've been known to do a mean 'Patience' on karaoke. Have gotten a lot of compliments on the last part of the song too.

As far as everyone "sounding" like Axl, I think it might have to do with Axl covering such a wide range, that some of us "fit" into one song, or part of a song where he is all over the place (WTTJ, SCOM etc). Axl sounds different on Yesterday,? It's so easy, and Estranged for example, so some of us may fall into? either the Yesterday, or Estranged category... But none or very few of us can cover all 3, or all GnR songs for that matter. Me, I can't sing very well, so yeah I'd probably have to do Used to love her, simple song, simple lyrics, decent crowd reaction.
