Title: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Backslash on March 17, 2006, 08:38:02 AM Yeah, just as the topic suggests. I came up with an idea of a supergroup and I was wondering who I would want to join. However, there's a twist. I thought that it would be interesting to see if we could all compile supergroups made up of our favourite deceased musicians. It does sound kinda morbid, but think of the great music that could've been, had these legends survived. I can't imagine this becoming very popular, but I think it'd be interesting to get a few different opinions. I'll start.
Here's my idea of the ideal blues-based rock band with all deceased members: Vocals: Janis Joplin Lead guitar: Stevie Ray Vaughan Rhythm guitar and songwriting: John Lennon Bass: John Entwistle Drums: John Bonham Piano/Keyboards: Ray Charles Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Izzy on March 17, 2006, 08:41:57 AM Axl Rose on vocals

Ray has been dead for 2 years so little grace will be extended but not much. Perhaps you should pick up a newspaper from time to time, watch CNN or get off the damn computer and come back to the real world.
Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Backslash on March 17, 2006, 12:53:54 PM John Entwistle Yup, that's why I picked him... he'll probably end up in every band. Him and that Metallica guy ;). I have a few tunes on my computer that I listenned to but never bought any albums or followed up on any bio's or anything. And can you explain how reading a newspaper or watching CNN, which tend to deal with current affairs, would have enlightened me to her death? CNN *Breaking News.......... Janis Joplin dead.........36 years ago.......more to follow* Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: alexh0618 on March 17, 2006, 06:10:30 PM Bon Scott

Rhythm Guitar: Kurt Cobain... if he can actually tune his guitar correctly, and then not smash it up halfway through a song. Bass: Cliff Burton... or Sid Vicious... (if he can now actually play!) Him and that Metallica guy? ;). Everyone else seemed to be struggling for a bass player! Good pick man! : ok: Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Thorned Rose on March 22, 2006, 11:18:17 AM Kurt could barely play rhythm guitar... :hihi: So cliched and weak you are. The point wasn't "how great" he is... he has a style that no one else can do now. Him being in the band would give it some edge. Playing fast isn't the best man. Style is what he would bring to that group. Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Sweet s on March 23, 2006, 03:53:03 AM Vocals: Freddie and Shannon doing a duet thingie, that would sound AWESOME!!! Style is what he would bring to that group. Thanks for that ::) I'm not concerned about how fast he is (or was), just whether he can play lead guitar at all when he can barely play rhythm guitar, thats all. This of course is just my opinion. Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Backslash on March 23, 2006, 10:10:12 PM I'd put Cobain writing lyrics. That's his strongest quality, in my opinion. Although, as far as deceased lyricists are concerned, I'd have to go with Lennon over him... maybe they could collaborate on a couple of songs. That would be sweet!
Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Elrothiel on March 23, 2006, 10:27:58 PM Hmm...
as well as having the ones I put earlier, I'd have Mozart as the main writer for all the music! :peace: I've just been watching Amadeus so I got a bit inspired! :hihi: :P Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Backslash on March 23, 2006, 10:29:12 PM Beethoven could kick Mozart's ass! :P
Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Elrothiel on March 23, 2006, 10:36:30 PM No way man! Mozart could hear perfect music in his head and just write it down with no errors or need for corrections!
Mozart = old timey equivalent to Axl Beethoven = old timey equivalent to Scotty-boy. Salieri = old timey equivalent of Slash. :hihi: Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Backslash on March 23, 2006, 10:49:01 PM haha... gotta love those forum arguments... Mozart vs. Beethoven! haha... I'd like to see Mozart make a press release about how Salieri said Beethoven was a phony. Then Beethoven freaks out and writes a stupid rebuttal on his website, insulting Mozart's wig and creativity....
Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Elrothiel on March 24, 2006, 01:16:21 PM
And then Beethoven discovers that yes... he's tone deaf! (Actually that's fact. Beethoven was actually tone-deaf...) And then he checks into the Betty Ford clinic for his chronic crack addiction... Title: Re: Supergroups made up of deceased members Post by: Backslash on March 28, 2006, 01:04:00 PM I just thought of something with regards to our lack of dead bass players. Why didn't anyone think of Jaco Pastorius? He's done things with the bass that I wouldn't dream of.
Maybe I'll put him in a band with Frank Zappa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Keith Moon. That would be one sick ensemble.
