Title: Marketing of the shows/What has been said in the news Post by: Rockin' Rose on March 15, 2006, 02:20:42 PM Maybe nothing significant but I'm a bit pissed of about the way how the GN'R shows in Finland have been marketed, commercial in tv for the show only shows footage with the old band and not even a word about the new band or even that Slash and Duff ain't part of the band anymore, the same with the internet/printed news.
I just think it's wrong, not only for the people who like the band (casual fans who have no idea about the current lineup) but for the new band members also. How has the journalism/marketing worked in other countries? Why would anyone in the media know anything about GNR anyway? It's not like we even know who's in the band anyway. All they could say is "Axl Rose, Richard Fortus and Dizzy Reed. Probably Robin Finck, Tommy Stinson and Brain Mantra, although its not confirmed and potentially Chris Pitman too. And possibly a third guitarist, provided they haven't written Buckethead's work out of the album". Not a gracious line, and there is probably no decent footage of the new band. There is definitely none showing the band without Buckethead either, so either way its going to be misleading. Blame GNR for the lack of knowledge of the band and its lineup.
