I doubt it dude.. I think given the time etc. fans expect originals. But hey if it rocks then why not. Plus imagine the shit Axl would cop about not being able to write his own music without Slash & Izzy and all that kinda crap.

Maybe he'll do a cover or two live. Brian May making a guest appearance on guitar on one of Axl's songs and maybe then a Queen track would rock! I tend to think the b-sides will be demos which didnt make the CD, instrumentals or maybe a live recording.

Don't forget Ebony and Ivory with Lionel Ritchie :nervous:

I don't know if I'd like to see a cover, but I think it would be possible.  AFD was the only release that GNR did without a cover.  Mind you, they got all the cover songs out in TSI.  If there is a cover, I'd like to hear Axl's take on some Elton John, as he likes to list him as an influence and friend.  Tiny Dancer would be an awesome song for Axl.

i want axl to cover some metallica just for fun.. to see what it sounds like axlified

but i would REALLY like to hear axl/gnr cover judas priest.. i think that could be some really interesting recordings

and about CD.. i hope there are no covers.. maybe b-sides to singles but not on the album itself

Seems kind of lame to have covers on an album that?s been in the makling for 13+ years. But as you said, if get a 3-disc album it would be totally OK.? :P

Personally I'd hate to see one and people would accuse Axl of putting in filler material.  Hopefully he doesn't add one.

Perfect Cover List for CD:

1. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
2. Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley
3. Dr.? Feel Good - Motley Crue
4. Unskinny Bop - Poison

(Hehe, this is a joke before you all freak out)

I always said GnR needed to cover Nazereth and then they did... now if they would do the Immigrant Song by Zepplin, that would be awesome.

2. Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley

I don't know about the Hey Jude thing.  With Catcher in the Rye as a tribute to John Lennon, maybe a Lennon or Beatles cover will surface as a B side

Hardly a tribute.... sort of I guess

I don't think there will be any covers on this album,I mean it would be kind of dumb, some would be pissed off waiting all of this time and then the album releast with a cover song on it,but seriously I don't think there will be any covers on it  :peace:

I cant imagine anybody wants to see covers on the new album...I want it to be a strictly Axl affair.  However, Id like to see some new live covers.

I wouldn't want it on the cd but i'd like to hear Axl do "no woman, no cry" - Bob Marley... I just think i would enjoy that for some reason - in a rock way though... weird.

Title: Re: Covers
Post by: St_Jimmyuk on March 16, 2006, 06:38:39 AM
hardly anyone is allowed to cover no-woman no cry, only a handfun of people have been allowed to do it, and fewer still to twist the lyrics so its not likely to happen, plus i don't think axl would ruin his album and perhapse final chance by putting covers on the disk, perhapse if it is a 3 cd collection then in the last installment he might have 1 as a bonus track or something

well, uncle Axl, if you're reading this....here's my request:  :hihi:

No covers on CD, but cover Freebird live. Sure you can relate to the lyrics and if you up-date the guitars at the end, they will give a killer show!  :peace:

Hm, would be a long shot, huh?  :'(

Freebird would be awesome if GNR still had 3 guitarists!  : ok:

They already did 2 Aerosmith songs: Mama Kin and Train Kept A-Rollin' (even though this wasn't written by Aerosmith, GNR does the Aerosmith version).  They were both on Live!@* Like a Suicide and GNR Lies.  There's also a live bootlegged cover of GNR doing Whole Lotta Rosie (an AC/DC song).

I guess your right i never thought about it hahah but a crue song would be good ..... of course vince neil and axl hate each other but that would be cool

Title: Re: Covers

It's been 14 years of silence... sounds like the GNR story.  Original album-wise, anyway...  ;D

Axl should do 14 years, change it to 15 years, and redo the lyrics a little bit, to make it reflect the GNR story entirely since 1991.

Yeah I always ahve the same feeling about that song, I said it should be like a cover cause Izzy sings on it and wrote it  ;D
