Title: official VR DVD being produced
Post by: anythinggoes on March 14, 2006, 06:47:05 AM
Matt: VR DVD will be released soon.
According to a posting by Matt Sorum on his Sorum Forum, VR are putting their final touches on a DVD release. He speaks of a show the band recorded in Texas at the start of the 'Contraband' tour. This is most likely the show from June 18, 2004 in Houston, TX, which was broadcast on HDNET earlier this year. In May 2005, Matt also spoke out about this DVD production: "We're working on it right now," he said. "We're cutting it up. Shot that down in Houston early on, and we did a lot of footage backstage and stuff, so it should be real interesting. We're gonna intercut a lot of backstage footage with a lot of stuff in our travels, you know, cross-country, which will be cool to kind of end the tour up with."

I thought I read that exact same quote from him a while ago...

Maybe he's just reiterating it again because it's coming out soon.

Good news that we will have an official DVD, but I still think they picked the wrong show... They hadn't even started playing my favorite tunes off the album by this point in the tour yet..... Songs like Superhuman, Dirty Little Thing and YGNR....  They should have picked one of those London shows that I have heard so much about.  Either way, a VR live dvd cannot be bad...

I agree tomass, the setlist was much better with DLT (and the other songs I guess but I really only like DLT out of those) in it. I wish they selected one of the later gigs. Surely they would see the fans feedback that they preferred that setlist?

Here's hoping for a ton of backstage footage, and I agree the later setlists were better

The longer an band plays - the better they are.
I wish the gig would be one with 'Wish you were here'.
Nevertheless,   I hope they produce it but they don't  'produce' it.
I hate to see stuff being rerecorded and polished.
What is the point of bringing something out that has been redone in the studio.
GNR Live Era for example. ???
We already have studio stuff.
Live should be raw an unpolished with all the mistakes and stuff : ok:

now this was posted on velvetrevolverforum.com but I don't know what to make of it, if this really is the setlist for the dvd then I'm not gonna buy it. It's way too short.
or could it be that the guy who posted this has just got it mixed up with the HDnet show? ???

Is that VH1 thing the "Rise Of VR" special? I've never seen that, so I'm glad it's on the DVD, but what about Mr Brownstone and Negative Creep? They were played at this show too weren't they?

Mr Brownstone and Negative Creep were played, that setlist is just the setlst from the show shown on HDNET, also there were only clips of the VH1 show interspersed it didn't have the full thing but it might be on the final dvd

I wonder why they are releasing such an early gig. they must have gotten loads better a year later, after touring the whole time. any band would have!
and when will it be released? probably in the summer sometime..
