It's simply stupid to spread demo versions of the new songs cause people might not like them and that could be bad for the band.

Sure spreading the demos to just the plain old masses is dumb... it is an unfinished product and you want the people who aren't fans yet to only hear the final product. I don't share any music with non-gnr fans.

The underground fan base.. which is the heart and soul of guns n roses... deserves to hear it to help keep the faith in Axl and the new project. I see no problem sharing it with them.

The mods/admins/people with connections to the gnr camp, have the duty to carry out and spread the wishes of management.. and warn/ban anyone who doesn't comply. However, should show some leniency, which they have, because you still all know what it is like to be a fan and want to hear the new music.

but apparently some Dutch radio station quoted Axl as saying it will all be solved by the end of March. Dont know what that is suppost to mean. Maybe he is taking the piss out of Slash.. who knows. We can only wait and see.

The album will be released when its ready. I cant understand these so called fucking fans that STILL think they are entitled to know everything about Axl and his life. If they are coming from management then cool. If not, a short clip of two or a filler track is cool but lets not ruin the upcoming release for those who spent so much time making it, and us who have spent so long waiting. We've had some cool leaks over the last 48 hours that's enough to keep us going for the short wait to come.

There is a buzz now and they need to exploit that.

The demos will allow the band to showcase the improved songs later and not give away the farm.

Isnt it obvious that Axl will be using drum machines this go around. He likes them. There was an older interview like around 99 or 2000 where he said he will be using drum tracks. And look at Madagascar, that has a whole drum loop in the middle of at, and at the begining, and that song was complete, or I dought they would be playing it live. The drum tracks are not a sign of the tracks being incomplete.

OK. I have heard Better and IRS, but don't want more songs leaked. And now it looks that There Was A Time also have been leaked. My thoughts on this situation is that I'm not gonna listen to TWAT (I think) and as long as the only people heard the songs are hardcore fans it's not that bad, so maybe it's a good idea to not share it with "normal" people on kazaa, limewire etc.. The more difficult it is to get the songs, the better it is.? But the most importent thing is: NO MORE LEAKED SONGS! Anyone else here who don't want more songs leaked?

There's a few others that dont want song leaks, but will instantly send a PM asking for the link when they wake up and see another leak has occured.

What we know at this moment is - we already listem 3 new songs (yes it is demo version only). No it is not the same cd played by Axl in Vegas 2-3 years ago or one week ago in Chelsea club. The leaks are good publicity for Axl & the band. IRS was on Stern on Thursday. Its just reminding mainstream music people who arent huge fans like we are that GNR still exists and a great album is on the horizon. It can only help GNR. From the artist point of view (Axl), its kind of taking a painter's canvas and putting it on display when it was 3/4 done, so I understand that part. But Ive been waiting for years for new music ( as the rest of us have also ) and dont feel the leat bit bad about wanting to hear the leaks. It is getting me even more excited for CD.

well keep in mind that an official single would get more attention than this demos....   so there`s no need to create publicity through a leak...

I wonder what his contract is like, there must be no incentive to do concerts, live shows, etc. No Pressure. If there was a financial burden associated with his contract we would have received an album, a supporting tour, and a reunion tour years ago. It's not about the money at this point. Obviously.

A real remedy to stop the leaks is to collectively shot down all gnr messageboards untill CD is released. Or untill the release date is set......Unfortunately...every album seems to get leaked prior to it's release a month later....

If all this is NOT planned and part of some guerilla marketing campaing, then the only way to stop leaks is a statement from the band. The longer they remain silent, the more tracks will leak.

That won't stop it, the only way to stop the leaks is to release the album. Leaking demos before the album's release is a good ploy but only if the real thing is coming out within weeks, which CD doesn't appear to be doing. If anything, these leaks will get the album out quicker and that's a good thing.

After all of the shit that happened last week there is still no statement from management other than "do not speak of these leeks... wah wah wha". I'm glad people are putting pressure on them. If this was any other band I may not feel this way... but after getting fucked all these years & whatnot what do you expect? good call last week i was excited as a motherfucker to get the new tracks and listen to them, this morning i woke up and saw the Dicuss CITR thread and i was disapointed not excited (thankfully for now only 9sec) this was not the way i wanted to hear the album once the album is released get as many demos out there ill be wanting them then but not know we have heard enough the hype is there (but if this time next year there is no album send a couple more our way)

I think its because we still haven't heard ANYTHING from management and no one knows when we will...I'm worried about what Axl will do if these songs come out.  :nervous:

Shit, we were all dying for this site to come back online so we could talk about it with one another. But Jarmo, you're an old school fan. It was before the internet era, but dont you remember how it felt to hear Civil War for the first time? It made you want more. Hearing the two new songs from Rio really made us want more. And like you, I seen GNR live before UYI was released, and it left me wanting to hear even more. Maybe that is a bad analogy, but its all I can think of at the moment. We have lived and breathed GNR our whole lives. When you get a taste, it makes you want the whole thing.

If we dont see them on here, we can get them elsewhere.  Most forums with an "other bands" section are raving about the leaks.  Not to mention, they ALLOW them to be posted and DO NOT delete them.  I'm not saying that this board should be run the same, because I am truly indifferent.  Its just the fact that it will happen no matter what and nothing can be done to stop it, except for Axl putting the album on shelves immediately.

I'm not going to listen to the whole thing if it leaks, because it looks like Axl's just about ready to put it out. I will download it all though, and if CD doesn't come out soon I'll listen. This may be the only way we'll ever get to hear this cd. I'm certainly not gonna wait 40 years like the Brian Wilson fans did.

Yeah, the tracks are everywhere.  I don't see much point in creating an initiative to shut down the world to prevent an album from leaking.  It has happened consistently with every album since the internet has become prominent as a means for communication information.  Yet, people were still listening to leaked material in the 70's, before the internet.  Funny how that works.  But yeah, lets shut down the internet and call it a day.

People have the choice whether or not they wanna listen to the clips. You either click the button, link or whatever. You dont have to do it, so whats the big deal, no ones ruined your CD experience, if anyone has it was yourselves for listening to the tracks.

Yep know one is forced to listen to the tracks and its up to the individual if they want to treat them as the real songs or just demo's, personally there just demo's to me and could be years old and nothing like the the songs what will be on the album.

How can you be sure? I agree, it's a logical thing to say that GnR don't want these leaks out there. But how hard is it to release a statement . ANY FUCKING STATEMENT about these leaks. Why don't we just enjoy the music some of us have been waiting 13 years for. If axl would put out a release date, I'd probably just grab the leaks and throw em on my mp3 player, and try not to listen to them, but if Axl isn't gonna give us a release date i'm going to keep listening to the amazing music that he has made.

Many times but people keep complaining bout the leaks. They obviously think that by complaining they are making a difference and they will get thanks from axl.

My guess would be, if CD was in record stores, the leaks would stop

i posted this at another board and i'm going to post it again:

Axl or management or the band is not leaking these demos. In fact even if they were to do such a thing, which I think is very unlikely in the first place, it would be a mixed track, and probably not one that is on the final tracklisting. (recall Axl once said that there would be a "bonus" disc at the Leeds show I believe)

Whatever the reason its taking so long, we haven't heard any new music for a long time for a reason, they weren't ready to put it out. He wants the music to speak for itself, so I think they are aiming for maximum surprise when the album comes out.

Also, demos or incomplete songs give the wrong impression to fans, especially ones who don't follow the band as closely as we do and could potentially turn them off of the band. That is the LAST thing they need, especially with all the events that have happened in the last 4 years or so. I think GNR needs to strike big and strike strong when the ball gets rolling and leaks will just get in the way. I mean, I think they are still not quite done with some of the songs according to the recent Rolling Stone article. (Richard even came back to LA to record some stuff a few months ago)

Even for my band, I would HATE for anything to leak before it comes out. I have had to tell my friend a few times that we shouldn't play too much new stuff live until it is put out there for everyone on the album.

So, I basically think these leaks hurt the band in the long run and hopefully they stop soon because we have been waiting too long for even MORE stuff to get screwed up in relation to the band.

I know that if there were a release date, I'd stop downloading any leaks, but since we don't... well...

For god's sake guys.  Cmon.  I understand that as truely devoted fans we have been through hell and back waiting for this album.  I, too, have listened to and shared a few of the leaks, but enough is enough already.  Let's stop ruining it for ourselves and for the band that we love so much.  I refure to listen to CITR or anything else that is leaked.  I wish you guys would do the same.  It is going to be a magical moment when we finally have that CD in our hands.  I don't want it to be diminished more so than it already has been.  I also want to say that I have come on this board every single day for the last 5 years and have nothing but respect for GNR fans.  I am part of the club my friends and am happy to share such a great mutual interest as the GREAT Axl Rose.

But i'm not gonna wait for the magical moment i get the album if i don't know how much longer i have to wait. Albums from other bands i love have leaked before and i didn't download the songs because i knew i only had to wait a month or so - i can wait a month, and i can wait two...

As it is the songs i have plus a few bootlegs, i listen to them on my headphones as i walk through the city and it's been really enjoyable. I'll buy the album, and i'll listen to it happily. I still listen to the old albums, so i can't imagine how much i'll listen to this.

I agree with your point, but at this stage in the game the leaks have been coming for over two weeks, and not one thing has been said by the band regarding them.  We heard the management didn't want them on the radio, but nothing other than that.

They are demos, if it was the real deal final version then I wouldn't be so free about passing them off. I think we have waited long enough and I'm hungry.. Well, first of all they're demos, so there is still something to look forward to on the album. ?Second, we don't know when the album is coming out and have been teased with it for 6 years. ?Third, we don't even know if any of these songs will actually be ON the album. ?Fourth, we all plan on buying it, so it doesn't really matter if we want to listen now... we're spoiling our own suprise, but that's our choice.

I don't understand their frustration.  Either you are content to not listen or you're not.  If it bothers you to hear others discuss it and you feel jealous/left out, then don't read the posts about it.  People like that go looking for their own headaches/stress.

if axl and management don't want the leaks to be shared. RELEASE THE FUCKING ALBUM. I mean i for one would stop listening to leaks if there was a release date or a simple statement saying

RIght now richard is in finishing a couple licks on Catcher in the Rye. We are keeping bucket's material because to not do so would not convey our collective vision. Tommy has a couple bass touch ups and then we are getting it mastered which should take 1-2 weeks. We are aiming to have out by June 15. So do us a favor and don't spoil it for yourself.

Yeah that's about standard for leaks these days. People get them during the pressing/packing/shipping phase. With an album like this you might see it even a week or two earlier because groups will want bragging rights as the first to release the new gnr album.

A couple years ago, Radiohead's latest album got leaked almost three months before it came out. The leaked tracks weren't even demos and it spread all over the internet. Then the album finally hit stores three months later and made the strongest debut of any Radiohead album so far.

maybe the management is leaking this demos so that we won't be able to do the difference on the p2p programs when the real album is about to come out. it's very easy to confuse the tracks. it's enough for one person to remove the 'demo' tag from the mp3's and then you won't be able to make a difference. people will get sick of dld the demos and eventually buy the original product. so maybe these leaks aren't that bad.

After each song I've said 'I'm not gonna download the next one' and subsequently I have downloaded them. We are Guns N' Roses fans and we were made to wait a long time, we deserve these leaks. If we have 32 songs to look forward to what's the deal in fussing over 4 demos? :yes:

i wasn't speaking about the period after the release. i was reffering to the period of 1-3 weeks before the release when new albums usually leak.  :yes:

It's pretty easy to read the .nfo file, also you can just check which tracks it includes. believe me, you will be able to download the real thing if you just want to.
