Title: GN'R discussed in Swedish Television
Post by: duga on March 10, 2006, 02:55:25 AM
A few minutes ago, a "panel" in SVT Morgon talked about GN'R. They more or less butchered Axl and said that you should listen to Velvet Revolver to hear the real GN'R.?

Edit: changed the title from "mentioned" to "discussed" as they talked about GN'R for two-three minutes.

Edit: I think you can watch this in a few hours on this link: http://svt.se/svt/jsp/Crosslink.jsp?d=30801&a=341218

It was Fredrik Strage, Susanne Ljung and one more in the panel.

But didn't GN'R sellout their show there?

THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!

They totally bashed the new GN'R and made fun of Buckethead. They also said Scott sings better than Axl. But nevermind, the show is sold out and that says pretty much!

Fuck...I want a show in the states!

But I love the fact that they have sold out!!

Enjoy the show.  Let us here in the US know how the show is, and more importantly, let us know how the new songs are.

They don?t know shit about what?s going on.
Only one in the panel knew that there was a sell-out...

They could?ve talked about the leaks or something.

Fuck it.

GnR, when you come to Sweden, you?ll get full support!  : ok:

As soon as I saw Fredrik Strage was on the panel, I knew what was coming. He is pretty much a joke in Sweden.

That was laughable, I have to say. I don't usually pay much mind to what any critics and/or media have to say about any artist and therefore I never have an opinion on the matter, but that was a joke.  They focused pretty much on the superficial ("Scott Weiland is much better looking than Axl" was one comment" they also laughed at Axl's hair which they said looked like "French Fries"), they said "Chinese Democracy" is a "joke" in the record industry and that Guns N' Roses already are touring behind a successful album, "they just happen to be called Velvet Revolver now."

Laughable. Incorrect facts. And if anyone wonders which of the two men on the panel is Fredrik Strage, well, I'm usually not one for commenting on people's looks, but just to join in on their superficiality, Fredrik Strage is the one who looks like the Mad Magazine mascot Alfred E. Neuman.

Man! Is that boy ugly or what!? :hihi: If you look up the word "nerd" in a dictionary there is a picture of him. Nerd, nerdier, most nerd on the planet, Fredrik Strage ;D

That was one of the most embarrasing things I've ever seen. The worst thing is that it was broadcasted on Swedish National Television. Everyone has it.

If they are to discuss something, maybe they should do some research first.

The worst thing was Fredrik Strage, who said that the last studioalbum was UYI and after that claimed that CD is a COVER-ALBUM!

Pathetic. They also said, as mention here before, that people are interested in the real Guns N' Roses, which is Velvet Revolver, and no-one is interested in Axl.

I guess this is something we'll have to learn to live with. We have to realise, that we're basically the only ones supporting this thing. The majority of people will take any chance to bash Axl and the others. We'll just have to keep fighting. Nevermind what others think, we know better than them.

Really? Funny that considering people like Brian May have commented on how fantastic material is. Even Slash said he heard that it was great. Doesn't sound like a joke to me.

Guns N' Roses played 200,000 fans in RIR3 before VR even existed, so it's a load of bollocks Botaxl  :peace:

Exactly. They'll go back to the States after the festivals and a few promotional shows and when they have a single or album or something definately ready/announced. Can't believe so much ranting about not going to their country in Europe or not going to the States. Living in Australia, that really pisses me off!

Don't worry, I'm sure a visit to Australia is coming. All you need is just a little patience... ;)

Uhm, he didn't speak very clear at that moment but I'm pretty sure he said "comeback album".

Wasn't that when they talked about buckethead? They said that he had a french fries-bucket on his head.

I listened to it over and over again. Just that sequence, and I'm sure he says cover-album. But as you say, he's not speaking very clear so it might be comeback.

Edit to add: Okay, I listened again and you can't really hear what he says, but it has to be comeback. He can't be so wrong that he thinks it's a cover-cd, right?

Yes, he heard wrong, Wernie is right. That whole thing sucked, I wish I never saw it.

not really, anyone I talk to about GNR apart from die hards like myself, is really negative and thinks Axl is the one that screwed up the original GNR, and that as long as he doesn't have the original band behind him, it's not GNR but a bunch of imitators that they don't care about.

I showed the MSG 2002 show to a friend of mine who plays in a great band, he used to be a GNR fan back in the early to mid 90s. he thought it was an absolutely hilarious sight with Buckethead and Finck and of course with Axl dressed up like 50 Cent...he saw it as a joke, and I think a LOT of others do too.
