Title: how are shows confirmed? Post by: speed_stone on March 09, 2006, 06:33:38 AM can anyone tell me excactly how this happens? do the arrangers send out notices after being in touch with gnr management? and if a concert is unconfirmed, does that mean they have been in contact but not given a green light yet from management? how does all of this work? cause certainly without being informed by merck or axl these dates find their way to the public. strange.
Title: Re: how are shows confirmed? Post by: estrangedpaul on March 09, 2006, 07:36:12 AM When agreement has been reached between Merck and the promotors/festival organisers the band will then be listed on the promotors/festival and venue websites and people will find it from there. Anyone signed up to newsletters relating to the gig wil also receive notice. Normally the band would put it up on their website too, but not in the case of GnR!
In addition, Merck and/or the concert/festival organisers will send out confirmation to a newswire in the form of a press release. The newswire sends it to loads of interested parties e.g. newspapers, music websites, etc. Uncomfirmed usually means inside sources have said it is going to happen, possibly even members of the band (although, again not in GnR). But neither Merck nor the promotors have sent out official confirmation either on their website or in the form of a press release. Title: Re: how are shows confirmed? Post by: Christos AG on March 09, 2006, 12:02:05 PM Merck does not book the European tour. He probably gives directions (guarantee, rider etc etc)
They have representatives here that talk with local promoters. example: ITB (International Talent Booking) Warning: I don't know if ITB works for GNR so don't start asking them, I just stated it as an example of a representative in Europe. Who knows? None of the shows have been officially confirmed by the band... some have by festivals, some have by venues, and some have by ticket sellers. Seems like once the promoter has an agreement we eventually fine out. I really think the band needs to do a press release, soon. Title: Re: how are shows confirmed?
