As much as I love the vintage clothes, I'm not sure I would want to see him dressed like that again now.  He's more mature then that now I think.

I always thought his 2002 look was purposely the complete oppposite to what he wore in the early 90's. He was criticized for wearing too tight and skimpy stuff, so he went with oversized baggy stuff instead. Maybe this time he'll wear clothes that actually fit? :hihi:

sorry to disappoint you but axl has always been a big rap fan, he even wore NWA hats on stage. he was a big fan of them. axl was into hip hop before most people were, and he dresses and looks how he feel is comfortable so enough with the stereotypes. if you wanna have a closed mind then fine, but don't drag axl into that.

...i feel like i'm venturing in a sea of hungry and annoyed sharks, but here it goes (early posts)...
  I just came back from watching the Oklahoma concert, and after attending the 2002 Toronto show (i've never seen GNR in the old formation), there's something fairly 'depressing' about the new band's look (and implicitly axl's behaviour).
  The leaks for me show a much more mature, individual sound (solos aside, i still feel that axl had control over song structure, composition, etc), and in some ways I can't picture the same attitude on axl's part being showcased on the stage like it was in the 90s.
  After watching the toronto show...axl's approach to the old material is nostalgic/melancholic but at the same time imperfect (he doesn't do the same runs, etc). Age IS a factor, obviously, but he still tries to live up to his old image I think.
  So for me, the live show as much as it was an amazing experience, wasn't what i was expecting (for obvious reasons).
  What I'm trying to say is that I really hope Axl finds a way to invoke a stage presence that reflects the solidity/maturity of the new material (he already has in a way...being static and playfully 'pivoting' around). Yet my biggest hope is that the band members try to get a band 'look' happening, otherwise it will still feel like a cut-and-paste of a hired-musicians group (the talent, contribution to the material is undeniable, i'm referring only to the image of the band). Axl's look/stage presence/behaviour was complemented by the otehr members onstage in the 90s, and bringing that back just doesn't work with a group of musicians that don't share a similar 'aesthetic'.

I really dug the Rock in Rio 3 look - It was simple, with the Adidas trainers, the red shades, and the open silk shirt. He could move around really well and looked badass, but comfortable.

I agree...he needs to wear more fitted clothes.  Looking back at what he wore in '02, I just cringe, I'm sorry.  I mean my pet peave is actually guys who wear jerserys (they only belong only on the playing field)...and then those black silky jogging pants...ech!  He needs a fashion consultant (not his sister this time!)...  I personally really like the style VR have for themselves--mature rock stars (esp. I really like the look in the Geoge Chin pic (we aren't allowed to post it here) I think it was from London 02. It was side on with Axl and his mic stand (Robin in background). Leathers, black boots, jersey and the long dark red jacket. He has the braids but is wearing the red bandana. I think that was cool and class? :smoking:

I know the hair talk gets old but I just think axl has had soemthing done, so I think this is partly the reason for the braides.. If it was typical axl it would have only been a phase.... he's human like anyone else in regards to aging, so if his hair was thin in 87 it's not getting thicker for rio 3.. Good for him if he had some stuff done.. I think this is why you might never see the free flowing hair of the past..
