could you people who have been to the festival or are danish natives give me some advice as to the security situation at the site and airport as pertaining to smallish amounts of weed?

book them, but that they dont have them om theyr list yet.

At the site the security is pretty lame, if it isn't stronger than weed there shouldn't be a problem  8) However I don't know about the security in the airport - it might be far more strict! Else consider a trip to the famous part of Copenhagen Christiania (http://www.christiania.org/main/lan.php?lan=gb) where you easily can buy some weed.

yeah, no problem what so ever in the camp area, but there's always a chance of getting cought buying the shit... you'll only get fined tho...

last years headline on one of the earliest editions of "roskilde festival's news paper" went: "fyr l?s" which is pretty much "smoke all you want"... the police won't bother you unless your an asshole asking for trouble... people even come to the camp just to sell weed...

just be nice and everyone will be nice to you! Roskilde has a great aura and people seem to really care about eachother... i think the pearl jam incident got people very aware of how important it is to behave in such huge crowds...

great news. cheers. and the pearl jam incident put me off a few years ago when there was another great bill - until i realised that the pearl jam incident would gain one of the few positive affects of that tragedy - that the goodwill and security settings of the event would be unparralleled to prevent something so sinister ever recurring.

and bob is on the bill too. if they get spacemen 3 to reform i might just kill myself as soon as the even is over.

my return flight is at 9(!) on monday morning. will i be able to make it by getting taxis and shit?
how exactly to work christiania. how and what will i be able to buy there?
where is the best place to purchase alcohol? is roskilde and town/village with the festival site outside it? is it easily accessible or do i need to try and cart 5 days worth of alcohol from copenhagen?

First. The alcohol thing is no problem. U can buy all the beer u want on the festival, and it is very very cheap!
There is a train, u can take from the festival era to Roskilde sentrum. I guess it takes about 5 minutes or something
You can also easly travel to Copenhagen with Train, i think it takes about 20 -25 minuttes.
If you need Vodka, Cognac, Jegermeister, or alcohol with high ass kickin %. U can buy it on a gass station near the festival era, or you can buy it down in Roskilde Sentrum. I dont know abput The Taxi thing.. i wouldent count on it. Just take the Train to Copenhagen, and get a Taxi from there. I think that would be the best way. Its 3 - 4 years since i was in Christiania, but i think it has been more restricted the last two years. But i guess it still works as a libirty era..  :smoking:
But thats no big prblem at the festival... Just dont make any trouble:D

honestly, each passing day this festival appears to be of a standard so much higher than any irish or english festival ive been to or investigated, that its kinda sad. we're so far behind the hospitality and user-friendliness of roskilde. its ridiculous.
and im looking forward to it even more day by day!

when you walk into christiania someone will come up to you and ask you what you want. it's still pretty safe to shop there, the dealers are more scared of the cops than you are so the watch men will let them know at all times where the pigs are. don't worry, you'll be just fine. if you get cought, which you wont, but if you do, all you'll get is a fine anyway so the risk isn't very big.

you'll most likely be able to buy shit at the festival too, but most of the time the shit sucks so my suggestion is to shop in christiania. thats atleast what i will keep doing.

bill filled out today. jack white and his raconteurs are making the trip along with the strokes, happy mondays and some not so notable people. not the greatest looking bill ive ever seen, but if you're a fan of new alternative music you should be ok.

Actually, does anyone know- do you have to stay there for the whole three days and do all that camping business, or can you leave and come back? and if you can, is there anywhere nearby to go to...?

I've seen Wolfmother live twice now and they fucking rock, though that was with an audience who knew all their songs and were big fans etc so we'll see how they go with a large international audience who may not know them so well...

id say wolfmother will be in a tent. but id be surprised if they even pulled a relatively big crowd. but im looking forward to some stomping blues hard rock. i dont think ill be disappointed if there is an excited crowd or not.

i think tickets are only available for a full 4 day pass. but you dont have to camp. you can stay in a hotel or whatever in roskilde town/city and come and go via the campsite entrances as you please.

I don't expect a big crowd for the wolf either. But it's good to see them getting some airplay overseas.

I thought as much about the camping...mm...I'll have to go do some serious budgeting and planning and see if it's really viable option for me....

I've been to Roskilde festival three times before; 1998,1999 and 2000 and it really is the greatest festival in the world! :beer:

Don't smoke to much weed now everybody or you'll just sleep in your tents and miss out on all the fun.

Is here anyone from outside of scandinavia who is going? I really want to recomend two swedish acts: Loop Troop, political hip hop, it's really good! Nothing like american hip hop about "bitches n hoes".

And I really really recomend Th?str?m! He sings in swedish but I think anyone can enjoy it anyway. He's a legend and used to be a punkrocker. Now he plays dark acoustic stuff.

What a week for me! Guns N' Roses in Stockholm on monday and then again at Roskilde on thursday. I can't wait!!! :drool:

From the airport to Christiania it's only about 8 miles.

Plenty of cabs at the airport and you WON'T get cheated/hassled. Strict laws on cabbies in Denmark.

Christiania is on the part of town called Christianshavn ("Christian's Harbor"), which is between the parts called Amager (where the airport is) and innercity Copenhagen.

When at Christiania visit M?nefiskeren ("The Moonfisher") for some good java and some pool/backgammon.

HOWEVER.. the police are cracking down on Christiania and it's "pusher street" was taken out a year ago. There's a strong police presence there, but it shouldn't be too much trouble. Police are tired of it too, knowing they can't remove weed from Christiania completely.? The place is still peaceful and safe, no worries.

Go to Loppen ("The Flea") - and eat at Spiseloppen ("The Eating Flea"). Great prices and surprisingly GREAT food and wine, always a bargain.

Guns N'Roses were scheduled to play at 21.00, went on at 21.50...

All the usual solos, won't mention them in the setlist..
