to be fair I have gone through the "what's your age thread" and have seen many people who post here are too young to really know the old band any other way then by records or tapes so they might have been drawn to a gnr site strictly because of the old and they feel that is gnr being it's in the NOW.. Then you have others that were around since afd but were more axl rose oriented, or felt he was gnr or simply side with him.. I always try to put into perpective the VH davide lee roth vs Sammy haggar situation... if you became a VH fan in 85-86 you might be for sammy and not dlr even though he was the original singer and a big part of why they became famous.. They rode the fame of the huge hit 1984 which had such commercial success....

This is simply not the crowd that would have been around when gnr was huge so I do understand  it... I still don't believe all the people that claim to be gnr fans really were... There'sa lot more living on those 02 soundboards that have just watched them ten zillion times that it actuall feels like tommy has been active in gnr since 98... He's basically been in the "band" longer then just about all the ex gunners yet not one album.. If the internet wasn't aroundthis band would basically only be real on paper, all this leaking and file sharing would never happen, you'd still be sitting around by metal edge or hit parader or circus praying for some news....

It's like people getting mad you are talking about brian may on a queen board because he left, yet the newest incarnation of the band has yet to do anything release wise..

The Gn'r side of the board is ridiculous..... They do not want you to talk about classic Gn'R especially if you prefer it over the new crap... Take a topic like the Gn'R name.. I saw someone post a new topic about it just to get locked  the other day... It may have been discussed to death but it is still a hot topic that people obviously want to talk about.... If its a hot topic it shouldnt be locked. They just dont want to see most people saying Axhole should change the name.. They just want everything to be viewed as positive with Axhole and his buddies... Fact is, there are ALOT of Gn'r fans that don't like it.

Yeah, and topics that have been discussed to death get taken to Dead Horse.  That's why those topics get locked in the main section.

I'm so glad you know how this place works.

That way I don't have to give you the truth. Why bother, you have figured everything out already.  ::)

Now, maybe you can get back to discussing whether or not Scott will relapse and if Bach would've been a better singer for the band.  : ok:

Good one Jarmo : ok:

You must admit that that side of the board is a little nutty right now.  It is very, very difficult to talk about anything really over there.  I tried a lot last nigth to break down the press release and everytime the next post was two dipshits fighting with each other about something stupid.  I am still blown away by the the events of yesterday, yet can't talk about it cause everyone is focking know it all it seems...

next time they should have... AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, and LED ZEPPELIN!!!! all combined together!! to form the greatest rock group to ever form ON GODS GREEN EARTH!!!!!!!!!! btw, this supergroup rocked rob kicks ass so does ace and tommy lee!!!!!!

Im totally with you SHONCO! Fuck the modern music industry!! Since when do teenage girls have the initiative in Rock N Roll??!! Im not sayin its wrong that teenage girls like Rock N Roll, but the deal is that the industries lure them into the whole Rock scene!! We need to bring a little danger and originality to Rock n Roll, the way it was meant to be!

This is fucking awesome, thanks for posting this!!!!

Tommy lee beats those skins like they were a bleach blonde canadian with implants.

absolutley they are my 4 fav bands ever lol that is exactly what i was thinking. y whould they pick bands like KISS, def leppard, queen, and priest. i like priest though. kiss sucked so bad their tribute was so much better than them and thats sad if they are being outplayed by their tribute band. thats the power of ace for ya! lol and tommy lee is an amazing drummer. everyone in that group kicks ass

OMG!!! that was the craziest thing that has ever played on my computer screen

Great Slash solo,

I didn't know anything about this song by a singer named Elan, but I love the Slash solo.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP4suWBfAWQ

The one thing I always thought Slash did better than everyone else was to use the lower ranges in his solos (especially the improvised ones).  SOOO many guitarists just want to wail on the high notes, and usually try to play as fast as they can, but those low notes add so much depth and richness to a solo, which Slash recognizes.

He had to be a very, VERY close friend with someone in the band...  That was horrible, except his outro solo of course.

that bass has the nastiest, twangiest sound i've ever heard.

He didn't really look as though he was enjoying himself with that, either.

Well they debuted We're All Gonna Die at Ruisrock in Finland. Michael Monroe sung that and Up Around the Bend in his little guest spot.

The song sounds good live. Michael was all over the place so the vocals were what they were, but it is a rockin tune and will sound a little better under more normal circumstances with Myles singing.

Dude is an animal. Check him out climbing the stage set-up at around the 3:30 mark. He gets awful high up there.

Probably my least favorite song on the album.

Here's more of "Up Around The Bend" but the video/audio could be better:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cszsb95QuYY

Michael Monroe brought to life Rockin Rye decided to Slash gig

07/12/2010
Jarkko Jokelainen

HELSINGIN SANOMAT

TURKU. spent the anniversary of Turku Ruisrock decision was festive, when the American guitarist Slash marched surprise guest on stage Sunday evening at the end. Former Hanoi Rocks singer Michael Monroe jumped on the same stage of the former Guns N'Roses guitarist with a two-song encore time.

"Luckily, I met him a few years ago," Slash introduced the guests. "I've always been fans of his, and I have the honor to get her a visitors."

Monroe sang the first "We're All Gonna Die song Slash a new solo album. Real life on the stage and the audience came when next it was time for Hanoi Rocks hit song, originally a CCR's By Up Around the Bend.

Monroe ran and climbed over the lava structures like electric hare, and the audience woke up the rear part of the field along.

Here's the version they did for MTV to anyone who hasn't seen it.

I would love to have heard the old band play Civil War like this with just the 2 guitars, bass and drums without all the other crap they had with the band on the Illusions tour. I think the song is much more powerful live musically with a raw sound like Slash has going than it ever did with Dizzy, Teddy Zig Zag, Tracey and Roberta or whatever else was going on outside of Axl/Slash/Duff/Gilby/Matt.

It just dawned on me writing that actually that we do have one performance like that with Axl on vocals from Farm Aid 1990. Actually the last performance of the original 5 together. Definitely think the less is more approached with this song.

The last show of the classic 5 was in Illinois forgot about that and Steven hitting his head at 0:17
In the end Steven didn't skrew up bad enough (at least what I heard in the vid) to be fired for it.

The ending is by far my favorate ending of Civil War of all GNR history!!!
Steven looks real happy boy he never saw what probobly came the next day that kind of pisses me off more about that issue.

These are videos from the Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo, Japan.

So far By The Sword and SCOM are the only videos that have surfaced, but it was obviously broadcast somewhere so there should be more to come.

Slash said on his Twitter yesterday that Koshi was going to join them to sing Sahara live for the first time, so that should be interesting to see.

Myles sounds great on By the Sword. It is amazing how many different guys he can do a credible job of covering when you consider how diverse the voices of guys like Axl, Scott, Andrew and some of the others from the album are.
