Title: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: Danny on March 04, 2006, 11:52:41 AM Heard a song on the radio a couple of times called "Hot Topic Is Not Punk Rock" by someone named MC Lars. In it, the singer mentions a number of different items sold at the chain store Hot Topic and declares them all "Not Punk Rock". One of the things brought up is "Guns N' Roses watches".

Title: Re: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: Danny on March 04, 2006, 01:13:08 PM It's sort of a modern "punk" song...sort of in the spirit of Green Day. It's actually a pretty funny song.

Pop Punk is by far the worst music ever created. Bands like Green Day (well their new stuff anyway) Good Charlotte, Blink 182, AFI, Arvil, and all those other shitty bands my gf's trendy sister listens to makes me wanna vomit. The Ramones, the Clash, the Misfits, UK Subs... that's punk. Title: Re: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: steviebucket on March 04, 2006, 02:46:52 PM Punk is the worst "music" ever created period. an excuse for untalented people to pretend they're muscians. including, the ramons, sex pistols and the horrible clash.
Title: Re: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: Danny on March 04, 2006, 03:08:37 PM Yeah. I pretty much aggree with you guys. Although, the Sex Pistols have been a guilty pleasure of mine for a long time. Any punk that came out after 1990 is pretty much phoney, corporate punk. That includes music and "punk" movies that pretend to be all hardcore and shit. Have you ever seen that movie S.L.C. Punk? One word: retarded.
Regardless, I still think that MC Lars song was amusing for a minute or two. I doubt Sid Vicious was one of the most talented musicians ever... :hihi: But you?re right, great punk bands like The Ramones or The Clash were great, and they did a lot of good kicking the old dinosaurs out. (Until they became dinasaurs themselves and their clones clottered the music scene with horrible music, of course.) Not mentioning that all the members of Guns are Punk fans. Although Axl may have turned to 50c now... :nervous: Title: Re: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: WhosGilby? on March 04, 2006, 08:28:43 PM Punk music is good. Mc Lars is not punk Rock
Title: Re: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: grabaraxl on March 05, 2006, 06:21:06 PM Sid Vicious wasn't a musician! Steve Jones recorded his parts. but he was cool as fuck! the godfather of nikki sixx and duff (2 other guys that can't play shit)
Title: Re: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: WhosGilby? on March 05, 2006, 08:28:26 PM Duff can play
Title: Re: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: Jonathan on March 05, 2006, 08:30:01 PM Sid Vicious wasn't a musician! Steve Jones recorded his parts. but he was cool as fuck! the godfather of nikki sixx and duff (2 other guys that can't play shit) So you're saying that Duff McKagan can't play? You obviously don't know a shit. Title: Re: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: mega_music on March 05, 2006, 11:39:23 PM I bought a pair of Guns pajama pants yesterday at Wal Mart for 12 bucks maybe I should write a song about that.
Title: Re: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: Eclipsed107 on March 06, 2006, 12:18:23 AM duff (2 other guys that can't play shit) Duff is actually a pretty good bassist. Listen to his work on Contraband, some of his best work yet (unlike Slash's work on CB)... Title: Re: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: coolman78SLASH on March 06, 2006, 04:53:38 AM Sid Vicious wasn't a musician! Steve Jones recorded his parts. but he was cool as fuck! the godfather of nikki sixx and duff (2 other guys that can't play shit) Come on man, you cant be serious? So you think that Duff's parts on Appetite,Lies,Ilussions 1 + 2 and TSI are bad...? Well, answer me this: Are you a musician? If you are, cool, but if you aint, then you dont know what you're talking about.. Do you think Axl would have worked with Duff for 12 years, or that Slash would have worked with him for 21 years if he couldent play?? Title: Re: Small GNR mention in MC Lars song Post by: grabaraxl on March 06, 2006, 06:29:56 AM yes i am a musician. duff has a great attitude, i love the guy (just as i love sid or nikky sixx).
but he's not a good bass player in my opinion. just compare the bass on new gn'r live shows vs. old gn'r shows or VR shows. Tommy Stinson, now that guy is a kick ass player and still has the punk attitude as well. that is a great bass player, not Duff. i tend to avaluate musicians from their live performances (everything can be done and redone in studio until it sounds really good), that's why i say duff or nikky sixx are pretty mediocre players - although nikky is a very talented songwritter. i downloaded a VR show some weeks ago, a proshot, i think it's the download festival or something like that, and i felt really bad for duff there. just listen to the first minute of the show. rock'n'roll doesn't have to be always perfect, but that was a really bad moment (and the illusion tours had some too). |
