It was quite cryptic that Axl didn't just say the CD will be out this year, just 'people will hear the music' this year.

I don't think he was referring to the leaked demos, possibly that we'll hear the first single or a soundtrack song. 'The music' seems to indicate an album to me though.

No... when he said that people would hear music, he had to mean more than just us people who are devoted like this. I'm sure that he meant more than just the hardcore fans who download the newest leaks.

I think he meant that the album would be released this year, but didn't just say that the album would be released because then if something happened that prevented it from being released it would look like he lied. Saying it the way that he did gave him an out if the album ends up not being released this year.

He obviously knew  that some commitments  for  performances would be forthcoming. That is what he meant. CD
will be previewed  at the shows.

Maybe he didnt want to say 'Chinese Democracy' because its not called that now...

I think he meant more than just leaks, but that's a really good point.

When that quote came out, I thought it was extremely interesting.  He was being cryptic, maybe in an effort to cover himself if things didn't work out right? Dunno, I don't know the man.

Anyway, when I heard that, I assumed a single, or a movie track or something like that.  He didn't imply that anything BIG was gonna happen, only that there would be music.

Then again, I was one of the riddlers for a while, so I may read into things too much  :hihi:

Its ok , Axl does set himself up for speculation when he makes remarks like he does.

I would think with a statement like that..he was referring to the CD...let's hope.   As I have mentioned in other threads and be saying for years..I hate all the cryptic statements and secrecy..I mean it's cool that Axl wants to keep his business under wraps but if the CD is to be released this year....why not just officially say it?

It would be embarassing if they tour without a release date for CD  ??? :'(

I agree with you Duga. If they tour and play festivals this summer it would be a bad idea to do it without the release of CD. I seriously hope CD will be out before then. Hm, still waiting for an official statement..... any day now!

I don't like to get people's hopes up more than the next man but...

Axl starts appearing in public and playing songs off CD left, right, and centre, to anyone who'll listen...

You've gotta think he's pretty much finished, and that's what he meant.

To DTJ-  If they just say it's not coming out, people will stop talking about it for a whole year, this way people talk about it and keep Chinese Democracy out there and speculate.  It's bad for publicity.

music is what people want to here. and until he gives a real confurmation that the CD is coming out i wouldnt expect it. but who knows its GNR. anything can happen. could be out tommarow. and we wouldnt know about it. there could be a reunion coming and we wouldnt know about it. even if the media says its not going to happen. its Axl. he love's knowing we dont know. and he wants to keep it that way.

I think axl leaked these songs. its a brilliant stategy if you really think about it.

Just a thought.. If Axl is really the one releasing these demos(hence saying music will be heard this year), do you think that he'd actually release the best stuff first? If he did leak the songs, wouldn't he save the best for last or best to be heard on the album instead of giving away the best of the best on the internet? I don't think he'd allow his prized songs to be leaked if he had control.

u read my mind. i think axl did release the songs. no one stoped it from playing on the radio this time. and it builds intrest.

and on the best tracks thing. if axl did release these songs then they are on the bottem of the list. who knows if they will be on the album(s). time will tell.

Exactly what I thought. I think they'll be on the album, but I agree they're on the bottom of the list. People keep saying these are great songs, but I see much better stuff for the album that hasn't been released, and if not, they're still great songs. :hihi:

Axl has talked alot of shit about this album. The unfolding of this album has been a soap opera...that's part of the allure for me, and many others. It really is a fantatic story, much like Brian Wilson's SMiLE which turned out to be a beautiful album(albeit, not worth waiting almost 40 years for). Regardless, we have heard music this year and these demos are fantastic, especially the jams into the outros. Fantastic guitar work by Bucket...too bad his service won't be retained. Although, I believe the shred guitar work is a bit over the top for the average classic rock fan and it will prove to be best for Guns if he is removed. I have to say I love it though...Thanks for the new music Axl. By the way, the "music" comment could have been refering to the festival dates recently revealed. My guess is no album until q3 or q4 of this year, but I will forecast some of these leaked songs will be played on the coming tour dates.

That would be a nice little shock. A Best Of (not greatest hits) album with songs picked by Axl with 3-5 new songs.

Hm, I would call that improbable, but this is GNR. Throughout I have had the feeling that these leaks were intentional. In the articles it said that Axl had people listening to CD, not demos, but somehow demos are leaked, not the studio versions for CD. Leaking those demos would only wet people's appetite and they would be more inclined to buy the real deal when it comes out. Just my 2 cents, but what do I know  ??? We're all in the dark together
