Title: Ajax Garcia
Post by: Shallowdeep on March 03, 2006, 08:59:44 AM
Does anyone remember this guy? If i remember right he confirmed that he was approached to replace Buckethead, which would make him atleast to my knowledge the only guitarist who has publicly commented on being approached?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned him lately with all the new tour dates being announced.

Well, it's kinda old news. ?Axl didn't want the guy after all. ?It's kinda like bringing up Bumblefoot. ?He ran his mouth and thats why he couldn't join. ?

Well its my understanding that if Axl wants to continue the three guitarist thing then he would of had to recruit someone after Buckets departure unless he is playng guitar himself. And at present to my knowledge there hasn't been any serious rumours suggesting anyone will be replacing Bucket.

Yeah, both Bumblefoot and Ajax broke the first rule of Guns n Roses membership:

Don't talk about Guns n Roses.

Rule number 2?

Don't talk about Guns n Roses.

:)

Who is Bumblefoot? What band is he in? And how do we know that Axl didn't want Ajax? Was this in the original article? Is there a link to this Bumblefoot article/interview?

If he has chosen a 3rd guitarist, it'll probably be someone rather obscure. ?Buckethead wasn't as well known before GNR, kinda like the other guitarists. ? They we're known, but nowhere near as much as now. I'm excited to see who Axl brings to the stage.

Ron Thal is Bumblefoot.? Do a google search for him.? He is a amazing guitar player, but a rather strange cat.? He was offered to join GNR, but Ron kept yapping about the process on his website, so Axl didn't dig that too much and cut him loose.

Didn't Axl say that he was scared of Ajax, because he compared Nirvana to the Beatles?? :hihi:

Edit:

A message from management;

- Please let everyone know we (including Tommy!) have never heard of Ajax and while we appreciate his kind words he should focus on letting his music do the talking rather than jumping on the GN?R band wagon. When asked Axl said, ?I'd be wary of anyone who compared Nirvana to the Beatles.? -

So i guess no one seems to think that its possible that Ajax will be joining the band on stage in 2006?

Ron Thal's a good guy and a fantastic guitarist. He wasn't "shooting his mouth off" over GN'R; word leaked that he'd been approached, and he (not unreasonably) wanted to set the record straight about what was going on - because mad GN'R fans were e-mailing him and bombarding his forum with questions and hearsay. Unfortunately, in Axl's world, "keeping the public informed" is equivalent to, "shooting your mouth off", and Thal was summarily dismissed...

This is true. Ron should never have approached the subject.

I am actually happy we are not exposed to the ferocity of the double swiss cheese guitar. It just doesn't work for me.

See my earlier "Fight Club" inspired post.

:)

The rules of the "Brotherhood of GnR" seem to include at least a partial vow of silence.

No need a 3rd guitar player.

I'm starting to think Nesquick is Axl considering his know-all knowledge and his hatred of Buckethead.

And if you aren't Axl, it seems like he already let you get a preview of Chinese Democracy.  It must be Nesquick who is leaking all the tracks.

Yes there is esp if the songs were written for 3 guitar players

Madagascar is built around three lead guitars. Listen to the outro of the Cleveland soundboard; it couldn't be anywhere near as powerful without three leads.
