Title: On the road to "Chinese Democracy"
Post by: Gaymo, the Hobbit on March 02, 2006, 04:39:19 PM
On the road to 'Chinese Democracy'
Posted by David Lindquist

Indiana native W. Axl Rose has popped up at a Korn tour-announcement party and a Victoria’s Secret event in recent weeks, fueling speculation that Guns n’ Roses’ long-delayed “Chinese Democracy” album may be released sooner than later.

Let’s add a field report from the Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band to the stack of growing evidence.

The Big Damn Band, an Indianapolis-based roots blues trio, served as the supporting act for the Derek Trucks Band Feb. 23 at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood, Calif. Rose caught Trucks in action, and then hit a VIP party at upstairs bar On the Rox.

Big Damn Band members the Rev. Josh Peyton, Breezy Peyton and Jayme Peyton also attended the party. Beyond the high-profile gig on the West Coast, the arrival of Jayme’s birthday at midnight gave the group reason to celebrate.

“(Rose) heard us say that it was my birthday, and he came over and bought me a couple of shots of Patron (tequila),” Jayme says. “I thought that was real nice.”

Photographic evidence of the drink can be viewed here.

Rose, sporting the cornrow hairstyle he unveiled during a brief Guns n’ Roses comeback in 2002, displayed a good sense of humor, according to Jayme.

After Rose mentioned his own recent 44th birthday, Breezy jokingly said, “Man, that is old.”

“(Rose) looked at the bartender and said, ‘Hey can I get a Geritol over here,’ ” Jayme says.

Naturally, Rose and the Big Damn Band bonded because of their shared Hoosier roots. In the old days, Rose told concert audiences that his native state of Indiana was Auschwitz revisited.

“I don’t think he really said anything bad about Indiana,” Jayme says of the Hollywood meeting. “Maybe he didn’t say anything especially good, either.”

Jayme says the party eventually moved to Trucks’ tour bus, where Rose produced a CD and previewed some of “Chinese Democracy” -- which the singer said will be sold as a 3-disc collection.

“He still has the ‘Axl voice,’ ” says Jayme, who recalls the 1991 Guns n’ Roses album “Use Your Illusion I” as the first CD he ever purchased. “He was in the bus singing along. I couldn’t believe it was still Axl’s voice, all these years later.”

I'm going to guess someone misinterpreted 3 cd's to mean a 3 cd set.

very interesting.. thanks for posting.

3 disc collection??? wow that is crazy.. i wonder if there is any truth to that??
or maybe they meant a 3 albums: 1, tour, another, tour more, another, more touring...

That kicks ass....best pics we've seen of Axl, totally not posed, very natural.  Lucky dude.  Glad to see Axl laugh about his age.  That is a bday I'm sure he'll never forget.

Maybe a 3CD collection being released with short time intervals between (a few months)... ?

Let's hope this turns out to be facts!

Yeah, another delay.

Axl is confident the 32 tracks for CD can be whittled down to 13 for that disc.

Only 64 more songs to write and record before the other two are chosen.

Think guys, its only 26 more years until we see the new material released. Don't worry it'll pass in a flash

I don't think 3 discs will be sold at the same time.

More like CD Part 1 - 2006, Part 2 - 2007, Part 3 - 2009

And touring inbetween, always says fresh that way.

Based on all of Axl's recent apperances virtually everywhere, I think it's safe to say the record's finished?  :peace:

I mean, when was the last time Axl made a public apperance (before Jan. 13), and the time before that again? It must have been at least a year between the last two...

Come to think of it... was it Merck who said that the release and promotion of the new album(s) would be something we've never seen before? If my memory is correct.... what are the chances of releasing 3 discs at the same day really, has that ever been done before? It would be a dream come true for all of us in the GNR community, but probably a bad idea from a business point of view...

if you're referring to that posting on the metal sludge forum, that was a fake dillhole..

a 3 disc collection would be awsome, but i doubt axl would throw his whole work from the last 10 years out there at once.. or would he?

three dics is possible, only if they'd sell it for a double disc prize. Then it would be the hugest comeback ever. Imagine the setlists......... they could pic the old catalog and the brand new one......which is allmost as much as the old guns did.....  ;D

I know that Prince did this once a few year's back. ?It was a 3-CD set of all new music. ?I think it was called Crystal Ball.

If Axl & his gang did this I was be in absolute heaven...and I'm sure I'm not the only one here who would be.

No way in hell he releases three albums in one day.  If anything, this 3 cd set means that he is selling 3 different versions of cd with different cover art.

Maybe the best way to do this is UYI-style, 3 separate discs... Who knows, maybe reaching the top of the charts isn't Axl's first priority.

Think about it... two rocker cd's with 13 tracks each (26), and one disc with the epics, 6 songs at 10 min each.  :D

Please fucking don't Just give me one right the fuck now. Serious, enough already. I have waited what seems a lifetime for Chinese Democracy. I will feel like a champion the day it arrives. I don't need a 3 disc fucking thing right now...I just need one. One perfect fucking thing. Shit 2 discs didnt work for the UYI's. I would have infinitely preferred one UYI with just the best of the best.

One disc Axl. Produce it for me now. This one disc will make life a lot more beatuiful. One disc will be the closure of this crazy fucked up ride we've been on. Shit produce however many you want later. But just give us one now. Stop with the fucking delays and shit. Fuck 3 discs if that means waiting longer.

I don't like the idea of naming the three forthcomming albums as Chinese Democracy, but could it be ?

a long time ago he mentioned releasing 3 albums, maybe in 2002. so i guess they will release chinese, then do a tour for it and then about a year later, do it again and then repeat. hopefully by this time they will have even more material so it doesn't take forever again to release more!  of course this is the Ideal situation........

why not...... he could call the first:

"Chinese Democracy 1: Where's slash?"

In the follow up we get the answer:

"Chinese Democracy 2: He's in my ass"

In the last saga we get it once more confirmed

"Chinese Democracy 3: yep, he still is"

In all seriousness...... one disc would already be great! I love the new guns, cant wait to hear Robin Finck on it! And Chrieeeeez Pieeettmaaan

I can't believe at this point that 3 discs will be released at one time.  I would imagine that the person misinterpreted what Axl may have said after a few shots of Patron.  Maybe he said he had 3 CDs worth of material, or some shit like that.

Also, anyone ever wonder why Axl seems to be taking CDs around with him to clubs/parties and then he always seems to let someone listen to his Chinese Democracy songs?  I believe it, just find it odd that he would carry that thing around with him and give people he meets previews.

Axl has ALWAYS talked about the 3 album thing and people always said i was full of shit but of course one again this three album thing comes up again. The plan has always been to release one album every year or so for the next 3-5 years. They wanted to make all three albums at once so they can just tour and not worry about going back into the studio

Are we even close to getting Chinese Democracy Part 1? I mean really...are we? He knew that this pic and shit would surface. What the fuck is goin on. Alright the latest...

We have 4 leaks (Presumably) from Chinese D with more possibly on the way. And Axl continues to go places with a copy Chinese Democracy in hand and play it for everyfuckin last one of these motherfuckers he comes across. Now I am feeling like I am being fucked with. Another pic of Axl out and about only this time with Chinese D in hand. That's fucking great. What a serious fucking jip.

They wanted to make all three albums at once so they can just tour and not worry about going back into the studio

well they wouldn't need to go back to the studio when everything is finished at the time the first album is being released. then they just drop the next 2 albums when they feel like it

There's no way that the man in the pictures is Axl. Axl is balding, fat, and has botox injections.

Before you people go any further, realize how clear it was that I wasn't being serious.

Brownstone -- Yes, I take my mirror in monthly for botox injections, and yes... it is balding and fat, but it's trying to work through it.

In all of these pictures we've been getting recently (except korn party), it appears as though Axl is going out alone to all of these bars.  Do you think he really goes alone, or does he have security etc. with him?  why doesn't he bring any friends or anything?

Because he's a recluse...or maybe because people would rather have their pics taken with Axl Rose than whoever hes with.

sorry, But this could be dangerous
imagine they releasing CD, and then someone starts to leak songs that will be included in the next GNR record already finished! damn worst scenario ever dude, and this shit CAN HAPPEN easily

I thought the same thing, he looks lonely for some reason, like playing the album for people, buying drinks and everything,  :(  :crying:

That's true, but on the other hand, how can we be positive that the songs that have been leaked recently aren't even scheduled for a later album? Most of these songs were rumored titles way back whenever RS did that interview for the first time during the first recluse days.? And I can't remember where, but I remember someone saying in the not too distant past that alot of the new recordings had bumped alot of the earlier stuff off the album.

I don't think 3 discs will be sold at the same time.

More like CD Part 1 - 2006, Part 2 - 2007, Part 3 - 2009

And touring inbetween, always says fresh that way.

by the time of parts 2 and 3, the "new" songs that were written in the late 1990s to reflect musical styles of the time will be more than 10 years old.

Axl looks like he's about to be eaten! Don't let CD be digested! NOOOOOOO!!! :o

Krispy: people assume that he's been trying to stay modern with these recordings. The new songs don't sound like they're trying to fit in with any kind of fad going on, which it shouldn't. From what I hear of the music its kind of bucking the trends (what is the current fad now, anyway?) and it sounds like nothing being done now or ten years ago for that matter.

I don't think that's CHI DEM. ? Besides the post by Frozen : Axl Spotted at the Roxy... ?some stated
"I saw the openning band's (this CRAZY bluegrass/blues combo, with a chick that plays the washingboard! they were pretty cool) singer/guitar player giving Axl his CD while he was on his phone" ?

I'm thinking that's the cd he has in his hands.

I feel like I'm in the goddamn Twilight Zone! ?A nurse I know just got back from seeing the Damn Band up in Philly. ?I previewed IRS for him and he was amazed Axl still sounded so good. ?I think he's gonna dig this article and these pics. ?Unbelievable...the timing that is.

Now, the 3-disc thing. ?As long as it's finally released I don't care what I'm buying. ?The demos have been amazing...we're in store for a great '06. ? : ok:

OOPS: Actually, the guy I know saw The Dan Band, not this Big Damn Band.  We had a good laugh about that.  Oh well, sorry!

I was just thinking(something I dont do often because its not usually a good thing)..

Maybe this 3 disc thing is true. UYI was released in 2 discs, UYI1 and UYI2. Axl has said 13 of the 30 something songs will be on Chinese Democracy, and maybe hes not lying. Say there is 13 songs on Chinese Democracy and maybe there will be 2 more discs as immediate followup?

Then again, maybe Im wrong and the rest of the songs will just get ditched.

I really liked this picture, it looks natural, it looks spontaneous, it looks like one of those photo?s that destined to become a classic. Who ever it belongs too should get it copyrighted and off to an agency. It sure as hell beats all the other photo?s that have been emerging of late.
