I think I know where they are! They are in Axl's secret recording studio. It's very similar to the bat cave no one knows where it is and you have to pick the correct elevator to get into the studio. Elevators to choose from are Appetite, Illusions, Chinese Democracy and Spaghetti. In the picture the guys from NIN are going to use the Chinese Democracy elevator, but what they dont know is that the elevator will contnue to keep going up and never stop.

There is no smoking in Chinese Democracy apparently ????

It's probably a quite simple explanation for that photo. It's most likely a stage door at a venue.

NIN played Mark Of The Quad Cities, Moline, IL on 12.02.06 (the photo is obviously taken at a venue, look at the IE-monitors around Trent's neck and in Josh's ears).

Guns N' Roses played Mark Of The Quad Cities, Moline, IL on 11.17.02.

The venue probably never took down the sign that GN'R put up to mark the stage door. I wouldn't have taken it down either, considering how damn cool (and politically funny) that sign is.

3) CD is the name for the long delayed and anticipated New GNR record.

4) Axl and Trent has been very good friends in the past.

5) Leaked Songs (or live versions) like Better, Chinesse Democracy, catcher in the rye and? the released OMG have lots of industrial "touches" in them

6) NIN are the fathers of that sound

Actually, I think that sign has nothing to do with the taking of the picture. The guy on the left is the same distance from the edge of the picture as is the guy on the right. Part of the sign is even cut off.

This doesn't look orchestrated in any way - I just wonder what the fuck that sign is - it doesn't look temporary, and if GN'R were working in there, wouldn't it say Guns N' Roses?

If that's the door to the studio where CD is being recorded, what a depressing looking place. No wonder the first thing a band does when they make some cash is have their own studio built in their homes. I thought Trent used his own home studio anyhow, what's he doing there (where ever that photo was shot).

No they weren't, they didn't hate each other but they sure weren't "very good friends."

It will just be the studio for Chinese Democracy. It's nothing huge and it is not a sumbliminal message. It was probably just that they had a photo shoot in the same building. There is probably many bands recording there and they put the project names on the door.

I think it is just another attack on robin for choosing to stick with Axl and not return to Reznor for his new project.

Trent hasn't always said good things about Axl in interviews-I remember Trent kind of ripping Axl for putting out Illusion CD's with material that wasn't that good-this was back in 94 or 95-Trent said Axl called him about working on new material-Axl told him he was thinking of doing a solo album.

Trent did call the Illusion albums "half medicore" or something like that, but that was like, ten, eleven years ago. They were friends back in the day, and Robin was Trent's right-hand-man for several years...so who knows?

Sounds like a lot of people here dont know much about NIN.  NIN=Trent Reznor,  Robin never had anything at all to do with NIN's studio albums.  Trent doesnt get along with many people for long.  Same guy who signed and produced albums for Manson and then wrote Star *@&Cers INC. all about how Manson sucks, and then had Manson sing it with him at Madison Square Garden.  Trent has also gone off on his new best friend Maynard about 50 times.  Also the NIN website isnt run by Trent and it is probably the most confusing band website of all time. 

Last I heard Trent hates Axl for stealing his road guitarist and didnt sound like he still respected Axl very much.

Oh and a NIN/GNR tour would last 1.5 shows tops.  First the cost would be astronomical.  NIN has one of the costliest productions in music and GNR isnt very cheap either.  Also combining two of the most confrontational eccentric people in rock history would be disasterous.  Both Trent and Axl are so egotistical I think that they would need to tour with an up and coming band that will just suck up to them. 

And just to reclarify things.  Pretty Hate Machine was released in 1989 and Axl had nothing to do with the success of the album.  I love Axl and he had a ton to do with the success of bands like Blind Melon, but absolutely nothing to do with NIN.  You could argue that Robin did, because their performance at Woodstock was incredible and created a ton of fans that never would have listened to industrial music before.

I was at the show in Toledo, it was taken at the Toledo Sports Arena, where they played Tuesday night(one of the best shows I've ever seen and just about sold out) shot taken is outside the arena entrances/concession area, by the way I first saw G'N'R' there in May of 1988

wow, i didn't realize that.. havent in a few years, but i used to read buddyhead all the time, i remember the axl rose system.
so if he's the guy that replaced Robin then the positioning i mentioned makes sense. no way to know for sure what the picture means to them, but whatever it is i'm sure they had a good laugh.
