Title: Guns N' Roses last charting position
Post by: Thorned Rose on February 20, 2006, 03:19:59 PM
Oh My God made it to #26 on the Mainstream Rock Chart

Before that it was Estranged which made it to #16 on the Mainstream Chart

Their last "hit" was in 1994 at #69 with Since I don't have you... on the main chart

It's been 12 years since a major hit come on Gn'R

Release the studio version of IRS!!!

Well no not really....

It's 2 separate charts....

If a song gets really high on a rock chart or any other subchart then it usually crosses over into the mainstream Billboard Hot 100... which SIDHY did that... at #69.

OMG was very very moderate...

i've asked this before, but exactly how do songs get ranked for charts.  do radio stations have to report what they play? what if it's a demo like IRS?  does that count?

Well, IRS is getting played on so many different stations that it might be the next hit for Axl.  :hihi:

Greatest Hits went to number #1 in the UK

Appetite For Destruction was even back in the top 40 last year.

As for singles ?. . .

Songs are ranked by single sells, downloads... etc... as well as radio play which is a big part.

IRS is getting played yes, but if it was just a accidental leak... it wouldn't matter how many times it got played... they wouldn't rank it.

If Axl purposely released this song...t hen yes it could be ranked, because it would be a licensed song by Gn'R and not an accidental leak. Since no word from management, I assume this is a serious song that Axl wanted out there in a very unorthodox way...

ROCK ON AXL!!!!

I think if they released hair of the dog from SI instead of SIDHY it would have done a lot better.  I think its a pretty under rated disc. some kick ass tunes on it.

They actually did release that as a single. It went to #11 on the mainstream rock chart...

That's good, considering all the competition in 1994...

yeah i rememer hearing it on the radio a lot.  I think SI would have gotten better reception though if that was the song/video to kick it off. I like SIDHY, but I could see how it would turn off alot of people....kinda like when Twisted Sister released, Leader of the Pack

hahah

26 on the mainstream rock chart isn't very high

by comparison, Slither and FTP both went to #1 on the same chart

For a shitty song on a shitty movie soundtrack with a bunch of other shitty band.... its pretty good :)

^^well if you put it that way, I heard it once on the radio when it was 1st released but mercifully it went away.....with the way rock stations play the same songs in such steady rotation, you would think #26 was #26, out of 26 ::)

I honestly dont care which one was more succesful,  I only like SIDHY...  at least it was GNR not trying to be some other band. :P

well pal, considering that SIDHY was actually a cover, but had the soul of GNR, an excellent ballad, good guitars, good voice (not a fucked up one because of the alcohol and cigarrettes)...  :P
