Can someone with contacts get on the blower and find out if GN'R are playing Reading or Leeds? Pretty please?

There's no Glastonbury for 2006, the next is for 2007.

Hopefully they'll play a standalone show in London too, like in 2002. That would be fantastic, don't really have the cash to blow on download, and it'd be a longer show anyway. It was the best show on the 2002 tour too.

Well, I won't be bidding on anything at least when GNR are playing in the UK and Germany...  ;D

But you can always bid from internet cafes... even though they're not THAT safe...

I hear you man. An outdoor show would be nice, but a regular show in a concert venue would be much more appreciated by me. The sound is usually better too. If only they could play Docklands Arena again

They have to be at the download festival.

It's on the 9th 10th and 11th of June. Metallica are headlining on the 10th.. So I would think GN'R would close it on the 11th  :peace:

Shit... Download takes place the weekend I'm seeing Bon Bovi at Wembley Stadium. Ahhh!

You may find out in the next 72 hours that the Bon Jovi concert is either cancelled or rescheduled.

It now looks unlikely that Wembley Stadium will be complete before September.

As for GN'R UK festivals, Download is the favourite.

The dates fit in with all the others.

The organisers of Leeds/Reading have already confirmed GN'R will NOT be playing at this years festival.

GN'R won't headline Friday night, Metallica are playing Saturday, so it makes common sense that Axl and the lads come to the Castle on Sunday 11th. :peace:

People 'in the know' on the Download forum have been expecting a huge announcement for the last week and expect something to happen before March, but they were veering towards the return of AC/DC. I have a feeling they may be wrong now. :peace:

London Arena is not a good venue. Twickenham rugby ground is rumoured to be hosting rock gig's including the Rolling Stones in the future as the whole place has been re built and looks huge. The Milton Keynes national bowl is another great place.

If it is going to be Download, and to be honest, that looks most likely...anyone know if there are still tickets left?  And can anyone confirm if you can get day tickets for it like you could at Leeds in '02?

I don't think you have to worry too much about that. Festivals are quite rarely sold-out. Most of the time, you can get tickets just days before the show.

Excellent!  Now the nailbiting wait to see if they confirm Download....  I've got nothing against jetting off to Austria but Download is a bit more within my means, heh.

Pandora...I was a bit worried as Download isn't a massive festival and I'm sure that it's sold out in the past.  Hopefully you're right and there's nothing to worry about!

If they play a show in London now it's gotta be a Twickenham. I saw the stones there a couple of years ago and it was fuckin amazing. U2 played there last year too. it's a huge place and is where all the big bands will be playing until wembley is finished.

Title: Re: Any UK festivals?

My London preferance would be the Hammersmith Apollo.

That place is great, I saw A Perfect Circle there.

For people who haven't been there, it's similar to Brixton but...Better.

The Asotria would be quality as well, I've been there..I don't know how many times.

But, I've known much smaller bands to sell that place out in a very short time....

Though, NIN did play there, so..

Earl's Court?

i agree with that, the sound quality at brixton is shit, hammersmith isn't amazing, but it's far better than brixton and there's a good atmosphere in there.

There are plenty of tickets available.

The Download organisers are allegedly planning another announcement in the next 24 hours. Allegedly, and I have no way of confirming if this is true or not, but tickets are selling slowly. At the moment.

IF Guns are confirmed, tickets could go a lot quicker, and there is no guarantee of day tickets being available.

I agree!? When you live as far up North as I do it can get really frustrating when bands seem to think London is the only viable place to play in England.? Whilst I *will* travel pretty much anywhere for GnR it'd be nice to have someplace a bit closer than 5 hrs in a car or 3 hrs and vast quantities of money on train tickets.? Then there's accommodation too.?

Bon Jovi and Green Day are fairly good at spreading themselves all over the country so it's not as impossible as some bands seem to think it is!?

Gateshead Stadium near Newcastle is big enough to accommodate GnR, I'd love to see them there.

I totally agree  : ok: They played at the stadium in 1992 they could easily come back again. If it was big enough for them during the Illusion tour it would be big enough now as well. It would be good for people from Scotland as Newcastle isn't that far from the boarder.

Yeh that'd be good im at college up that way at the moment so it'd only be a 20 min journey.

If they did a tour at some point this year or next rather than festivals they would surely play at the arenas like MEN, NEC or Telewest, well im hoping anyway! Suppose venues for a tour would depend on the popularity of CD.

Cause there are people travelling from other countries to see them, like me.

If you can't move your ass a little bit in your own country, then don't bother going...

I would travel 560 km to go Athens and see them, and the plane costs 100 euros. I know there are cheap flights there, so take one and stop whining.

Maybe they should play in your house?

I for one would be well happy if they came and played in my house.  It would be the ideal solution for me ;)  I'm not promising I'd let them leave after the gig though.

I will move my ass in my own country though, if necessary...I spent a helluva lot of money on their last two UK gigs and I'm prepared to do it again if I have to.

It is frustrating though that many bands do seem to ignore the rest of the country when touring over here and only focus on London.  It's like the North doesn't exist.

I see your point in that you have to travel to come to England but I'd be willing to bet it'd be just as easy and a similar price to get a flight into Newcastle airport as it is to get into Heathrow or wherever - whereas if you're stuck in a little town up North like me, you have to fork out a shitload on train fare before you can get anywhere.  I'm willing to do that but still, I can dream about them coming some place close.

It's not so much that a 5 hr train journey is particularly far away, it's that the train prices and fuel prices in the UK are astronomical at the moment, so of course we're wishing gigs were closer, it's kinder on the pocket, heh :) ?

Saying that though, I am just about to bankrupt myself by buying Download tickets, haven't even considered getting there yet!  I'm gonna be soooo poor for the next few weeks.   Worth it though!  Well, if they show, anyway!

Stockholm, where bands usually play in Sweden, is 5-6 hours away by car.....

So I know what you mean.

Rose said of the appearance: "The UK and Europe have always been special for me. After our last great shows there, we are all very excited and looking forward to getting back over there and in front of such great audiences."

He added: "Donington has always meant a lot to me personally, way before I ever played there. To be asked to headline is for me an honour and a privilege that none of us take for granted. We look forward to seeing all of you at Download!"

I woundn't bother explaining yourself dude he probably won't get it.

Maybe somebody should explain to you that you're lucky they're playing in your country?

From my experience, some people here are spoiled. They think a two-three hour car/train ride is far away.  :P

Exactly... I have no money at the moment, I have to pay 250 euros for the server of gunsnroses.gr in May to keep it alive, BUT I'll bleed myself to get the money to see them in England AND Germany.

And people who live there think it's too far...  ::)
