Title: Re: CD in 2001 Post by: HoldenCaulfield on February 19, 2006, 07:19:33 PM I'm prone to believe that the album in 2001 is VERY different from the album we'll see this year. The band is at a different time and place. I'd say that album was harder edged, more industrial, and since then, they've become a little more about melody and emotion...

Title: Re: CD in 2001 Post by: Ax on February 19, 2006, 08:00:26 PM I have to agree with the person who said that if Chinese Democracy would have come out in 2001 it would have been a very different record than what might come out this year. The 2001 version probably would have featured a lot of tracks similar to Oh My God and been more similar to a NIN record than a GNR record.
I still think it is a bit of a shame that Axl went through that whole phase of wanting to make industrial type music, which is I think a major reason Slash and Duff left, and now Chinese Democracy will be a cd that Slash and Duff would have probably wanted to be a part of recording. It just kind of makes the whole break up of the old band over creative differences seem like it didn't have to happen. I don't bring that up to discuss something that has been debated many times before, it's just that now that we are hearing what kind of music is going to be on CD, it just makes me sad that the whole break up occured when it didn't really have to. Title: Re: CD in 2001 Post by: Lucky on February 19, 2006, 08:06:46 PM slash left because Axl didn't like what slash was coming up with in 95( and that turned into it's 5 o clock somewhere).
duff stayed with the band and left in 97 becuase of alcohol problems he helped write 20 songs back in 96 matt wasnt a GNR member so nobody gives a fuck. Izzy was working with axl around 95/96. the breakup didnt happen because of creative diferences. it's a sequel of unfortunate events. Title: Re: CD in 2001 Post by: phaseONE on February 19, 2006, 08:16:25 PM Can someone explain to me as to why Matt sorum was not a member of GNR???
I mean, im sure as i am looking at my Use your illusion CD`s and the spag incident that the looks like sorum....... Im sure that the guy behind the drums on the huge illusions tour also looks like sorum........ hell.the guy in all the illusion videos looks like sorum............ So, why the hell was he not considered a member !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????? ........maybe axl thought that the blonde `popcorn`haired looking fella banging on the drums was adler? Who knows, hell axl even claimed he didnr know anything about the 1st Chinese Democracy tour!? Title: Re: CD in 2001 Post by: Gaymo, the Hobbit on February 19, 2006, 08:20:11 PM matt is a dillhole. sure he was a great drummer, but how he talked shit about axl in that vh1 documentary made me hate that prick. saying that he didn't sign for a band who has all that orchestra stuff on stage... dude, you were in the best band alive, show some respect you son of a bitch

Title: Re: CD in 2001 Post by: jameslofton29 on February 19, 2006, 10:10:49 PM What makes you guys think CD was gonna be a NIN clone in 2001? Silkworms? :hihi: Gimme a break. All these years since the 2001 appearance, we've heard the same 'new songs, until a couple days ago with 3 demos. If you really think it was a NIN clone in 01, why is it not in 06? Only 3 demos have surfaced in that period of time. What caused you to change your mind?
