VELVET REVOLVER star Slash has confirmed the new Guns N' Roses album will be released this spring.

Speaking on Virgin Radio yesterday, the guitarist revealed that after months of speculation Chinese Democracy will finally hit the shops in March.

Although no longer in Axl Rose's band, Slash said: ?I?m really excited. Its been a long time waiting to see what the next step around the corner was going to be.

I'm guessing this is new because "Speaking on Virgin Radio yesterday" and on google it says news 1 hour old.

Seriously don't mind slash. The album is not coming out in march because quite frankly we would have heard something official by now if it was.

It defintely won't be coming out in March and probably won't be out till next year. There are still 32 songs that need to be completed which, if going on Axl time, would take a few more years.

yeah i love how suddenly slash is a big axl fan now.before nothing moved him about axl.now we will see who's laughin,axl.slash should have been by axl's side all along not a bandwagoner.

Do you think in any way, that it COULD come out in March?  I really don't think so, but is it possible that it will surprise us all?  Axl himself said that it would come out when we least expect it!

Yeah, I remember him saying something like that.  I highly doubt it, but you never know.  I honestly don't think this album needs much promotion.  Once a release date is set, everyone will know about it.  The only thing promotion does is get initial sales.  If an album is good enough, it will sell in time either way. 

This seems really odd....Slash saying this sort of thing about Axl.   I mean..I dunno just seems odd...I don't know what else to say really.

Slash has been out of Gn'R for almost 10 years...

I think when Axl gives a release date, thats when we should bite..

Too me at least, Slash mooching publicity off of Axl's project is getting old and tiresome...

It's Feb 11.. if it was coming out in March we would know about it by now.

I agree, I'd be absolutely shocked if all of a sudden it just showed up on the shelves.  Pre release hype will have people DYING to get their hands on this thing.  I've always pictured HUGE lines outside stores waiting for a midnight sale or something (didn't they do that for UYI??) like they did for the new xbox.

I wonder if this was a sound byte or a live interview?  Either way its interesting for Slash to be talking about CD.

I kinda doubt a March release but an April release isn't too far out of the question. I guess we'll see what happens.

why? the live recording of the "Vienna New Year's Concert" was on the 1st of January. and on the 9th of January you were able to buy it. of course we're talking about smaller quantities, but still. if axl hands over CD, two weeks later it could be on the shelves.
i just depends on the fact, how much promotion axl wants. i mean, didn't he say: "let the music to the talking"??

Now say Slash have been saying march two times. It's been o couple of weeks or so and he still says it. And Axl have been out playing the record. So no I REALLT get my hopes up! : ok:

This is interesting. I mean, there?s been many, many, MANY rumors and fake release dates over the years, and this is first time Slash has stepped out to say : ??Yeah, I heard it?s definitely coming in such and such date??

Besides, if he says it?s a reliable sorce, I don?t think he means Mysterion... Slash knows a shitload of people in the business. The only thing I think should be noticed is that MAYBE he misunderstood or got things wrong, and an ANNOUNCEMENT or release date is coming in March, but not the actual album. ?

Either way, it seems like something big is going to happen soon, with Axl doing his Strip Club Tour and all that :hihi:

I'm not one to believe what he says completely, but what possible reason does he have to lie? I believe he THINKS his information is true.
Obviously, they still have a LOT of common friends, aquaintences in the music biz and in their normal social circles. What he says is probably true, all except the release date.
March ?is nearly impossible, but April/May seems extremely plausible.

I agree with Thorazie that it is Izzy.  Slash trusts Izzy, and I think Axl does too.  Slash is over the top on the nice side.  I wonder if he plays on a song....."This I Love"?

It seems to be the best connection between the two (Axl and Slash).

Is there something significant about releasing an album in March? ?Like to qualify for the Grammy Awards or something like that? ?Because if there's NOT and since Axl's already waited this long, why not take advantage of an ad promotion that could be done with a June 6th release date?

1st off , thank god the board is back. I "almost" registered at sp1at and/or mygnr .. lol

Second .. slash has ALWAYS been fairly positive when talking about the new album and has always hinted he couldnt wait for it to come out to see what it was all about and to finally see what axl's vision was. He's been saying it for years. Sure , he may not have always said great things about the band being still called GNR but he hasnt bad mouthed the album and wanting to hear it.

Third , I could see them releasing the album in march with maybe 2 weeks of whirlwind promotion or even no promotion! Maybe not the best example but Limp Bizkit released an E.P. last year with ZERO promotion .. nobody even knew it was in sores unless they actually were at the store and spotted it.

Hell , Democracy could be in your record store now ... go have a look!!

yeah i agree with you. i was thinking about that scenario, too. maybe there`s no or little money for promotion left and axl has to do the main part.... + an intense promotion 2 weeks prior....     maybe this is the case and slash is right, or he misinterpreted what he heard and we`ll "just" get an announcement/single.....  the second case would fully satisfy my demands though... :hihi:

What about the pressing? What about the buzz that would be created once the disc in at the manufacturing level. Someone at somepoint would be talking. It would have to be in the pressing stages, wouldn't it? I mean, can 200,000 to 400,000 (or whatever the case may be) units be produced and shipped in one month under the cover of night? I don't think so. I really, really want to... But I don't.

The date is going to be relevant to nothing imo.

This is great news i can't wait. I really do think the album is finished as Axl is out and about so much these days.

Slash's comments on the album being released soon saying he's excited sounds like bull shit if you ask me. I'm not bashing Slash , I think the guy's awesome but I remember when he said something like "I just wish the fucker would release the damn thing so I can hear how he fucked up something so awesome." Or maybe his thoughts has changed through time, I don't know.

Slash knows more than Axl's band it seems.

I don't think Axl has completed any songs yet. He said he is "working on" thirty-two songs with twenty-six of them "nearly complete." To me this means that twenty-six songs are in the final stages of completion with six other songs in various stages on development. So going by Axl's comments, in ten years he hasn't completed a single song.

I am hoping he meant 26 are done. If there are 26 uncompleted songs, this could continue to be a long wait.

Here's hoping for the best.

Guns 'N' Roses new album out next month

Legendary rockers Guns 'N' Roses will release their first album in 13 years next month when the long awaited Chimese Democracy finally hits store shelves.

The LP has been more than a decade in the making after a series of postponements and production problems.

The November Rain hitmakers last released new material in 1993 with their covers album The Spaghetti Incident.

Frontman Axl Rose has promised fans a more "complex" record and hinted at festival appearances this summer.

Guitarist Slash gushes: "I'm really excited. It's been a long time waiting to see what the next step was, but it's coming out in March and sounds great.

"I'm just waiting for the record to come out, so I'm glad we've finally got to the point that that's happening."

The new album contains 13 tracks with titles including Better, There Was A Time and The Blues.
