 On various boards there has been talk about leaks of Prostitute and The General....and indeed the full album. What are peoples thoughts?

Well on Wednesday, we all said BS to TWAT, Better and IRS being leaked. Shit has turned upside ?down in the GnR world.

Yeah, just give us the rest of better, release the thing in late March or early April, and the do a summer tour. :peace:

I agree wholeheartedly. ?We have no right to take the album if it is released. ?I supported listening to the 3 songs released so far, but if in fact the whole album is leaked we would be thieves and completely disrespectful to Axl and Co. to listen. ?I hope the members of this and other GN'R communities show restraint and refuse to participate and allow any more songs be spread. ?If this is how were gonna thank Axl for all his time and effort by stealing his music then we aren't worthy of it.

Take the leaks, the album is now doomed not to come out anyway. ?This could set the record for the most downloaded album ever. ?Could this be a big fuck you to the record company? ?Nevermind, why would he say fuck you to his very loyal company. I have lost my mind.

This calls for some resident computer experts to try and track some of this down, and send the info to Sanctuary.  The whole thing should not leak!  Too much time and work put into this to leak.

The story might be true. When the guy said i had the songs, everybody said he was lying. When wes gave us IRS you said that he got it from the radio.. then when he gave us the better clip, everybody said that the tracks came from the eddie trunk - mike piazza cd, when they gave us T.W.A.T. ( that we know wasnt on the cd ) you said it was a planned move... well, if the album leaks tonight, i dont see how could this be planned

Leak this fucker. NOW. Everyone will still buy it when it comes out. ?I'm actually surprised its taken this long. Its possible this album was bootlegged at that strip club. Axl, Tommy, and Dizzy: This is what happens when you spend years saying 'soon', 'mindblowing', 'earth shattering', 'hairs breadth',etc. You hype it up to the extreme, and create a huge demand for it. Anyone who gets access to it will of course take advantage. Should have released this fucker 3 years ago.

Remember that if the full album leaks, it's not necessarily the version of Chinese Democracy that will be officially released.

The album has been been completed at least two times in the past before Axl decided to scrap it and start over.

We know how many songs were on the Trunk CD...happens to coincide with what we got...If anyone else can show tangible evidence that TWAT and Better weren't the other 2 songs on the CD, than please do so, but I doubt there will be anything more.  I know I told a few of you last night that I was doubting the fact that the source CD was Trunk's, but how could it not be?  I dunno

Would axl carry around demos to play when he went out? The strip club theory seems strange to me; why be so careless when he has been so careful thus far.

What about that story about Axl playing CD in order to get in the club? According to the the New York Post, Axl had his driver get CD...perhaps this CD was stolen? But why release the album in bits and pieces? There is no logic here. I wish the band/Axl would issue a statement.

I didn't number them, so IRS is either 1 or 4 and That leaves one more floating around unless bother clips of better are from different tracks (I haven't closely compared them yet to see)

I would honestly take the entire album sinc emost band sgiv eyou a preview before you buy it anyways.. I am going tobuy it either way so I will listen.. I won't distribute it or try and make money but I won't hesitate to let my long waiting pay off... Either way axl will get my 20's for two albums and my cash for the tickets when the tour comes around..

I think the only track that can be leaked is Better Full
and I think it will be leaked today, or in a few days

It would really "destroy" what he has worked on for so long if what people get out of an album leak sounds loads different than what he intended for eventual release.

He has stated that he's not doing this for anyone (this includes you), he's doing it for himself.

I think a lot of you are blowing this out of proportion. Once again, the percentage of people who REALLY CARE about these "leaks" is tiny. The majority of sales for CD are not gonna come from freaks like us who obsess ?over and analyze every little detail of the band. Anyone who says that we are not true fans or less of a fan for DL'ing the recent tracks is off base , IMHO.

i personly thinks that those parts of not done tracks are part of the comercial system to get all off the fans prepart to stay alert for the new album.

Some demos are one thing, but the actual album is something else.

Don't leak the album.

What's the big deal with this ? If you don't want to listen the songs...just don't download them...I don't care if people want to hear it before the official release...it's their choice and I'm sure they'll buy the record when it comeout so...

Let me tell you, the whole album will leak before CD is out...it happens with every album. ?I had the VR cd 1 week before it was out. ?The warez community will distribute it to whoever wants it at least 1 week before it comes out. ?And given that this happens on every release (yes, every one), I doubt it will hurt album sales. ?You guys who don't know the warez community and the way things spread through IRC and bit torrent don't realize this, but all of us that want this album for it is released, will have it. ?My point is that if the album were to leak tonight, it wouldn't hurt sales at all. ?Those that are gonna buy the album will regardless of the leaks and those that won't, won't.

That being said I will buy one copy of the cd when it comes out just like I did for VR's cd (not sure why anyone would buy more than 1 anyway).

The problem is alot of people won't. As Die hards we gotta make sure Leachers don't get their grubby little paws on finished material.

I downloaded VR's album and really wanted to like it. Sadly it just did work for me, i didn't even keep what i had downloaded. I liked the songs on Slash's Snake Pit Album It's Five O'clock Somewhere so much better (oh fuck, i keep using the better word  ::) ) I loved the artwork too on It's Five O'clock Somewhere, that album is so Gn'R, dare i say it, i sort of like the lead singers voice more on It's Five O'clock Somewhere more than A's. Sadly the 2nd Snake Pit album while being good and better than VR was no match for the 1st Snake Pit album.

so it's not Trunk

The possibilities are:

1. some astute fellow from the Strip Club who either copied the songs from the disc axl turned over or found/was given the demos.

2. a disgruntled sound engineer who could have ripped the songs or stolen a promo/demo disc. (probably from the old studio financed by the label)

3. the label themselves to prompt a release

4. a bandmember (doubtful)

5. Axl & management to reward the fans and create a buzz

I think 4,5 are doubtful since the band wants their best stuff out there. A single would do as adequete a job as these demos and sound better.
2, 3 are  a strong possibility since the demos are alot older, something they would have access to.
1 is definately a wild card and cannot be ruled out, but it sounds iffy. Why would axl carry around old, out of date demos?

As for cease and desist, I think GnR are riding the buzz and will annouce something very important soon, either a single or OST song. A release date is a possibility. Perhaps they are waiting for the reaction to all the leaks before shutting it down for good, a little bit of marketing.

Its this simple. You can either download them or not. It's your choice. You can if your curious and are desperate for new GNR music or you don't if you don't want to.

I've just listened to TWAT and its pretty wicked but I don't really want to have to resort to downloading leaks I just want CD really.

If Axl sais "Chinese Democracy on 06/06/06" or whatever, I would not listen to the leaks. Simple as.

Just about every album released over the past 5 years has been leaked before it's release. Including an Eminem album that supposedly had crazy measures taken to ensure it wouldn't.

How is it that the board thinks Axl is some how going to pull off a feat no other artist in the digital age has been able to and release an album with no leak?

A leak won't kill sales that much, because it will be on every download network out there an hour after release anyway, so it's not like 5 million people are going to buy the album within an hour of release.

If anything I think the CD situation lends itself more to downloading than buying strictly because people most likely will want to see what direction Axl went in without his old band before they commit money to doing so. Problem is after people have downloaded an album they rarely go out and then buy the exact same thing unless they are total super fans.
