Title: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: Minneapolisnewsman on February 18, 2006, 02:27:16 AM What has been the reaction in the markets where the song has been played? It seems, from what I have gathered, that IRS grows on one--but there is still some mixed reaction mainly from the "Where's Slash crowd," who just repeat that mantra when on the the air, because they have heard the rhetorical, local dj say that 1000 times during the past five years.
The WAAF folks seem to like the song? Where's the reactions from Detroit, Toronto, NY, Chicago, Minneapolis, KC, Miami, etc? Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: RitzWalker8 on February 18, 2006, 02:28:56 AM Boston gives mostly thumbs up. The DJ said she was gonna try to get her hands on some more tracks, so there might be more to come.

Post by: oneway23 on February 18, 2006, 03:00:44 AM I think TWAT would blow a lot more people away, personally
Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: killingvector on February 18, 2006, 03:03:24 AM Hartford was mixed to IRS but was heavily requested the next day. Were the reactions fans or dj's? Any details? dj's split. Basically there were djs/listeners who couldn't get over the fact that slash was gone and that the music didn't sound like AFD. One dj may have been playing devil's advocate when he claimed that this was part of a process to build upon that foundation. Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: The Dog on February 18, 2006, 03:30:26 AM these demos should not be getting play on radio. I hope something is done about this Like it or not, its happening....doesn't seem to be much that can stop it. Too many people have these songs now and there seems to be a large number of people who are Pro-send-to-stations. Chinese Democracy? More like TOTAL ANARCHY!!!! :o Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: Mr.Intensity on February 18, 2006, 03:34:52 AM Its good good reviews here in detroit

Can anyone tell me the reaction in the Philly area (WMMR, WYSP) Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: Minneapolisnewsman on February 18, 2006, 09:49:21 AM It seems to me, after a few times listening, IRS is planting itself firmly in the ear's of America! I have been told by some radio folks with Entercom, that the response has been overrwhelming and very positive!!

Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: Hammy on February 18, 2006, 09:59:29 AM Listening to waaf 10 minutes ago they were slagging it off, the dude in the studio was saying he did not want to here it then they joked about what it stood for I Really Suck.....
....and they also said that Axl's had more plastic surgery than Liza Minelli and he's the Michael Jackson of Rock N' Roll, blah blah blah etc. But he also said Axl still has the best voice in Rock - Welcome To The Jungle - Wo! So it wasn't quite all negative just mainly, but what the hey this was just a DJ and some random celeb in the studio who well i don't know, there's always going to be haters..... Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: RichardNixon on February 18, 2006, 10:04:08 AM Well if AAF doesn't like the new song, they can always go back to playing Godsmack and Linkin Park : ok:

Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: Hammy on February 18, 2006, 10:12:05 AM They should air TWAT, I think it blows IRS away. Why have no stations bothered they must of been sent of copy of TWAT by someone.........and if the cease and desist letters ain't got round yet.. Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: suicide on February 18, 2006, 10:15:03 AM ... and he's the Michael Jackson of Rock N' Roll, ..... So they think he's the KING of ROCK N' ROLL hey? Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: gnrrock on February 18, 2006, 11:01:51 AM I have sirius. I will make some calls to dj's in NC
Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: Sino-lieS on February 18, 2006, 11:10:03 AM Hey Guys...here in Toronrot a few days ago IRS was played several times on Q107 (not sure if any Toronto posters posted this....) BUT the played the OLD version of IRS...and many people calle din and loved it. there was negativity BUT the host...John Derringer totally stood up for Gnr and demanded everyone understand that it was an older DEMO!.....It was pretty cool!....he said the message boards have been exploding recently!
cheers Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: Minneapolisnewsman on February 18, 2006, 11:22:40 AM Someone in another thread said that it was well received in Philly? Sometimes, the DJ's slag things just to sound outrageous and get people calling in.
I have talked to four dj's, all of whom work with Entercom stations, and all of them are psyched, except for one who claimed he had already heard the studio-demo version of IRS and Better six months ago, and that they were ok, but Axl was a loser and wanted to know where Slash was. Granted, this guy only enjoys Ride the Lightning era Metallica and what not, and obviously has a creditibility issue (the studio leaks have out what three days). One of the dj's, in a large market, knows Axl and said that he listened to about fifteen ideas with Dizzy about two years ago. I am going to call him back today to see if he has a clue regarding a release date. I am sure, though, the band has been told to keep mum about this. Anyone notice, that Dizzy has many friends who work with the industry (not the stuffy exec types--but the blue collar dj and concert promo types), and they all love the guy!? Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: tp4ever84 on February 18, 2006, 11:38:18 AM I heard the dj talking about the leak on the radio and that he was going to play it but I missed it. This proves that gnr wants it out there because if they didn't the radio stations wouldn't be allowed to continue playing it.
Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: Minneapolisnewsman on February 18, 2006, 12:02:32 PM On WAAF again, right now!? Sounds great on the radio!! The DJ called him "Lewie" Rose, said it's different, but likes it! He was pretty funny--made fun of Axl, but in a decent way!
You can tell, these dj's are dying to get this record--demand is rising! Title: Re: Radio reaction in your markets? Post by: directionality on February 18, 2006, 12:12:25 PM I can't account for every Chicago radio station, but IRS was well received on The Loop (97.9) by the djs and I was told that they were playing clips of it throughout the day yesterday.
