If CD is released in the next couple of years, then I think it will be a big deal. The major difference between CD and Smile is that I think CD will be relevant in today's music scene musically and Axl is also able to still go out on the road and put on an amazing show.

 ??? ::)

I saw Brian Wilson perform Smile in it's entirety with his band, and let me tell you it was an amazing show

Smile is a masterpiece, and if CD is anywhere near as good, we all will be very lucky indeed

Smile was a big deal for those who were waiting for it; however, it was not as big a deal as it would have been if he had finished it within a few years.

As with Uncle Axl and the nu GnR, there is a lingering question in the mainstream if there is alot of interest remaining in Axl.

I made a thread about this a while back.

My opinion is that the only reason CD is more of a mystery than SMiLE is because after smile was shelved, the beach boys/brian wilson kept on releasing music, and a few of the tracks slated for smile showed up on the other albums.

Whereas guns n' roses haven't released anything since 1993 other than the intriguing 'Oh My God'. And it doesn't need to be said that there has been many frustrated fans wanting for any sort of music at all.
But if the chatter is right, we won't have to wait much longer...  : ok:

I dunno. It's really conflicting situations. You have one man who quits in the middle of an album because his problems take the better part of him and he litterally goes insane, becoming a recluse for 35 years. On the other side, you have a man who's insecurities prevent him from releasing his masterpiece for 7-9 years. Axl is a much more recent part of pop culture, in the mind of a few different generations, whereas pretty much only baby boomers and music critics were interested in Wilson.  Both will be remembered as artistic geniuses with very difficult lives, but grew to overcome their obstacles and give the world their respective masterpiece...
