i never have and i guess i never will... being at the oslo gig in 93 is the closest i got, unless i'll be closer to the stage at the lisbon gig... :P

has anyone here ever met axl. As much as i would love to, it strikes me as though under any gn'r situation he can be a real asshole, but meet him when he is just going about his day to day life he is cool. this is only from people i have spoken to or heard about that meet him.
if u have met him can u tell us what he was like, and what circumstances u met him under.
i was hopeful in 2002 when i spoke to someone that deals with gnr booking agent in the uk that i know, but he said the demand to get near axl is so high it was impossible, all i wanted was live like a suicide autographed, but apparently it was gonna cause a lot of hassle.

Madison did met him on 2002! She?s an administrator of mygnr.com, and posts here sometimes.

All I remember is that she says he told her that "Catcher in The Rye" may be the third single. He also revealed to her the name of the first single, but she says that won?t pass this information to anyone until that previously not ever mentioned name appears somewhere.

I also have a friend that used to work for Universal, and met Axl Rose on RIRIII backstage. This friend gave the AFD booklet folded, so Axl could sign it on page 10 (the one with a good white space to someone autograph it) without seeing page 11, where we can find a pic of the old band.

When he handed it to Axl, the first thing Mr.Rose did was to unfold the booklet, take a very angry faced look at that photo, then at my friend (who thought for an instant that would be killed right there) and some seconds after... signed it quickly and gave back to him.

He He your friend must have shaked from terror when Axl saw that photo.I would have asked for apologise quickly fearing the he would make his big-fat bodyguard kick my fucking ass!!!! :hihi:

Well my teenage girlfriend in the 90's. She was with a lot of friends (not a big mass) waiting for guns to arrive at the airport in norway. The members rolled the limosine window down said hello, gave hugs etc

What maybe was him was a car window 1\4 down and a hand with the middle finger in the air (thats nice) then the window rolled up and the car drived off.

The female fans told the papers axl was a fuck but was still pleased.

  I met Axl as I posted several months ago.  He was in a bar named "Rock Inn" in Iwakuni, Japan.

  It is a small rock bar near a U.S. military base.  He seemed very friendly. I remember him drinking a couple of shot of Jagermeister.

i visited hiroshima back in 1990 and it was one of the most profoundly spiritual experiences  i have ever had. i mean the way the enitire city has been rebuilt makes you really believe in God. i felt so much love from the japanese people i saw in the Peace park for having the courage to go there.  My greatest dream is to meet axl Rose and tell him to his face that he is a total babe and an absolute genius! ;) :love:

I'd love to meet him, simply because there's so much shit been spoken about him over the years, and I'd like to see what the man himself is actually like. I reckon he's probably an okay guy, and it's just the press that's made him out to be some kind of monster in order to sell a few more copies of their newspapers and magazines.

Anyway, I'd tell him that Madagascar's the best song he's ever done, and tell him to keep pressing on with Chinese Democracy and ignore all the whingers who want him to get together with Slash and the others. I mean, they have their band, he has his band, and neither of them would be happy in the same band... and we want all of 'em to be happy, right?

This is a post I have often thought about putting on here but have never got round too because it is such a sore point for me.

I had the major honour of meeting Axl in 1993 after their concert in Milton Keynes and he let me have a photo taken with him, not because I was more special than anyone else it was just that I had a friend who worked on the security and managed to get backstage. This photo obviously was gonna be treasured forever, however I got attacked by a bunch of gay rights campaigners outside the venue who were there protesting against GnR and especially Axl. A friend of mine decided to start abusing them and two of them set upon him and me. My mate was okay but seeing as I was only 17 at the time I didnt get off so lightly and got a good fucking kicking. This was bad but the fact that they smashed my camera up and I lost the one photo that I pretty much ever wanted. I know that people will think why the fuck has he put this up on here today, its just that I was looking at my scar from that night this morning and I was wandering if I would ever get a chance to meet Axl again. Which led me on to my question about whether any of you lot have met Axl and if so what was he like because he was so nice and polite even though he was only stood there for about 30 seconds to a minute.

axl ran past me in the parking lot in philly.at the aerosmith   gnr show.i didn't meet him.but met izzy coming off the tour bus.and have a pic of steven adler coming off the ramp at the spectrum in philly.but i allways said i should have tripped axl and jumped on him kissing him all over lol.but he was late for the show i couldn't do that to him being late an all.

Haven't had the privalage of meeting anyone else.

I met Steve Adler during the Bad Boys Of Metal tour after he finished his set.  I got to shake his hand and tell him how cool he is.  I've also communicated with him via e-mail.  The guy has definitely made some bad decisions during his life, but he's still a nice guy who appreciates his fans.  I once e-mailed Izzy Stradlin, but I didn't hear back from him.

I met Duff about 2 weeks ago at the VR sydney show. He fuckin rules

I meet Slash at a Velvet Revolver show, here in Lisbon! It was mind blowing! He was verry cool, and easy to talk. We talked a litle bit, he autographed my Velvet CD and we took a picture, that was burned? :(. I only have the autograph to prove it.

OMG I am SOOOOOOO Jelous!!!! A friend of ours (my family's) Met Axl @ a bar once when he came to Aus.... He said he was down to earth and was very anti-drugs. I have NO idea how he found that out, i just listened...

I met gilby clarke back in 94' he played at this bar in Toronto called RPM which is called the Kool Haus now.I got him and his whole band to autograph his Pawnshop guitars album which I still have to this day.I ask Gilby what was going on in Guns n' Roses he told me nothing and that he was out of the band that was ground breaking news at that time.I wish he was still with Axl.Gilby was so much better live than Izzy was.Gilby likes to move around while Izzy just stood there.Don't get me wrong I think Izzy is great but Gilby was a perfect replacement.Anyways I'm going off topic here so I'll wrap it up.no.1 fan bailyrose.

I never met them, but in 1995, I was standing outside the terminal at San Francisco Airport waiting for my mother's flight to arrive, and I saw Slash run from the terminal and get on a city bus! I always wondered why the hell he would take a bus! LMAO!!

This thread has come up many times before and I can never help but mention it. I met Axl very briefly at Milton Keynes Bowl in England in 1993. It was the shows when Izzy came back to play when Gilby was injured. As I have said before it was the most amazing moment of my life! I just wish I had been a bit older instead of a star struck 18 year old. He was so pleasant and cool though! I would love to get the chance again when they tour next!

I talked to Steve Adler via e-mail once, and I've shaken hands and spoken breifly with him the two times I've seen him perform live.  He's very friendly, and is very appreciative of his fans.  I also met Gilby Clarke last month at a show in Long Island, NY.  He was unbelievably cool to me and my friends.  He stuck around to take pictures with all of us, and talked to us about all kinds of random shit.  Before he left he told us how cool we were.  I almost pissed my pants...a former member of GN'R telling me I'm cool.  Gilby is the friggin' man.

I met Slash at the freddie mercury tribute concert at wembley, and duff during his solo uk tour (believe in me)

Both were V cool  ;D

To date, I had met basically the entire origional lineup back in 87 at The Sundance show on LI, when I was 17, sinc ethen Ive met richard bout 3 times(will hang out again weds night at don hills), dizzy, 3 times, tommy 2 times. All great guys, and it helps I live in NYC and these guys frequently come and play at clubs.

I met Duff at the 2nd VR show in Sydney. Seems pretty cool. Very fuckin skinny

met slash in the early 90's at cbgbs.. He was just hanging out drinking at the bar and I was at the bar too.. I was pretty fucking drunk by the time I realised he was there.... Quite the mob around him, but he was real down to earth and fit in quite nicely, plus the place was dark.. Said a few words saying how much I loved his playing since he was sitting right near me,, As I said earlier though I was smashed so I didn't talk to him the way I would have sober, I could barely keep my head up.. He was dressed pretty basic like a regular dude, denim jacket, converse sneakers and blue jeans...

I got in line behind Robin Finck at Starbucks in the Hard Rock Hotel the morning after GNR's first performance there in 2001. Luckily I was carrying my ticket stub in my wallet, and he signed it for me.

I was fortunate enough to meet Tommy 2X. Met him at the Bowery Ballroom when he opened for Jesse Malin. He was hanging out at the bar upstairs with a friend and i approached him, introduced myself, shook his hand and told him I was looking forward to the show, dropped that I was a huge GNR fan and was floored by the 12/05/02 gig at MSG. He was very appreciative, I told him I was chomping at the bit for the new GNR record, his repost was nothing written in stone but look for it around the fall of 2004 (obviously this never came to fruition). Introduced him to my fiance, then told him i appreciated him taking the time to talk w/me but i know your busy so i'll let you go, play a great show. My fiance actually shot the shit w/him for about 15 minutes after the show at the downstairs bar (he was just hanging out talking to the peeps). My fiance is more a fan of old school punk and new wave. She mentioned to Tommy the large amount of money I paid for 1st row tickets to the MSG show and his repost was he felt bad that a true GNR fan had to pay so much for 1st row tickets. Second time we (my fiance and I) met Tommy was at the Mercury Lounge in NYC when he played w/ACS. Had a cocktail at the bar w/him but couldnt really shoot the shit as there were so many people interupting to say hello to him. He was kind enough though to take a picture w/Jennifer. ****Met Dizzy Reed when he performed at The Kings Club on Long Island w/Hookers & Blow. He was a flipping trip. I caught him as he entered the club (which was practically empty--it was a late show on a weeknight). Intoduced myself & Jennifer. Asked him how the band was doing. He was pulled away to do an interview. When he returned, he went strait to the bar. Jennifer, I & a female assistant of his (i forget her name, but a cool bird nonetheless) started drinking and just talked music and shot the shit. Great show BTW, they did a cover of Cheap Trick's "Surrender" that was ace. Dizzy was very cool, was in very good spirits considering he had told me they had just driven to Long Island from MA.***Was very fortunate to meet Richard at CBGB's when he performed w/"Pisser". Caught him as he walked in and introduced myself (very short guy BTW). Let him be as he just arrived and obviously had to prepare for the show. Saw him hanging alone backstage, had to use the mens room anyway so I figured on my way to the mens room, I would have to pass him anyway. Re-Introduced myself, mentioned that i was at the MSG gig and told him i saw him w/the Furs late 90's at Jones Beach when the Furs opened for the B52's and the GoGo's. Mentioned to him that we had a mutual friend (Jazjme). Wished him a good show then let him be. Didnt berade him w/GNR ?'s ala when is the record dropping. I did mention I was a huge fan, his repost was when the record comes out, it will be worth the wait. That was good enough for me. Great show BTW. Jaz took some great shots which can be seen on thenewguns.com ***Met Gilby when he played The Downtown in Farmingdale, NY (LI) briefly. He was setting up and I introduced myself, told him i was a big fan and was looking forward to the show. He was very busy at the time so I thanked him for taking the time to shake my hand and talk w/me for a minute. He in turn thanked me. Pretty good show, i didnt like the fact that the drummer of his band said some disparaging remarks between songs about Axl. Gilby in turn made it clear that he like's Axl.***Hope to meet the rest of the band obviously (new GNR members preferably, would love to shoot the shit w/Robin & Chris)*** ?

I met slash and gilby on slash's '95 snakepit tour.  ended up backstage with the band and he was super-cool, signing stuff, joking around and happy to have pics taken.  we also got let into the venue early after we left slash and the band to it before the gig and got a lovely centre front row position against the barrier and took some GREAT close-ups of slash and the guys.  gilby was really cool also.  I was 17 and meeting slash was incredible after years of loving that band waiting for them to tour in scotland....

Never came close to meeting anyone...and to be honest, I don't think I would want to.  If I had a bad experience it would really tarnish the music for me.  Its the same with pro athletes or movie stars.   I think MOST of the time they are never going to meet your expectations.  I "met" harrison ford once, growing up he was one of my all time favorite actors (han solo, indiana jones etc...).  But hes SUCH a huge stand offish prick in real life that it really bummed me out for a while (and so have all of his shitty movies since Air Force 1).
If I met Axl and he was a HUGE dick to me, it would really effect how much I love the music....it'd be impossible to not match the music to that experience.

I know what you mean HannaHat... that would be a real crushing, annihilating blow to the back of the head! Although, I have to say, everybody have dayz when they're just in a really shitty mood all day for no reason, but if I met Axl and he was a dick to me, I wouldn't let it get to me! I'd just think that either I had been incredibly annoying (which I wouldn't), or that he was just in a really shitty mood that day! Although if he started having a go at me, I'd probably tell him off! ;D I don't take crap from anyone! Not even Axl!

Axl Rose moved into my basement a few months ago. Yesterday I caught him playing checkers against himself. Right now he's watching the video for Garden Of Eden, with great enthusiasm.

I met Axl Rose back stage at RIRV and he let me listen to the first track on CD! I told the whole board, everyone flipped out.. some didn't believe but since it was coming out the next week anyways I wasn't worried.. for my proof was coming soon enough.

I met Slash before a VR concert in 2004. Took some pictures  with him, got his autograph (which I did not sell on ebay) and he was really cool. Very nice and  down to earth.

I met Slash, duff and Matt when they came to London in 2004 to promote Velvet revolver I saw them at an autograph session greatest day of my life so far

i met gilby at the cat club back in 98 or 99, he was playing there every thursday night - he had the stray cats drummer and yogi from buckcherry on bass, can't remeber who was the bass player. i talked to him after the show, got the picture and some guitar picks. he wasvery nice.
that show was like 2 weeks after Axl jammed those 2 songs with him, so every time the club door opened i was looking over to check if it was axl again!
during that trip to california i took some pics at axl's door in malibu, but didn't ring the door bell, i'm not much of a stalker.

i met adler twice on his madrid shows. i love the guy, the first time it was his birthday so i bought him a bottle of champagne at the hotel bar, and he kindly drink it with me and my friends and ended up kissing my face and pucked on my shoes (in that order). very unortodoxed experience, but it ws adler, the guy who played drums on my fav album, so it was all good! he's very fun to be with and has great stories!

i'm a personal friend of VR's photographer, so he got me a after show pass to their show in Portugal, but there was no after show party since it was their last date and they went straight to the hotel since they had an early flight to take. too bad! on that afternoon i met slash around the venue, but since there were other fans around him as well and i thought i would have more time to chat with him later, i didn't even took a pic. too bad, but i'm sure i'll have more chances in the future to meet the VR guys.

This has been mentioned b4, but I met Slash, Duff, and Matt at a VR after party when they first toured (Toronto)...The bouncer was nice enuff to let us in even w/out a pass.  Matt spoke to us the longest (perhaps b/c he's single <laff>...but he was very sweet...gave us (my sis and myself) a kiss on the cheek and we talked for a bit.  Slash was really cool, and I said thanks for putting out the best albums, and he responded that I hope his new album would impress me as well (wasn't released just yet).  Then when they were leaving, my sis gave Slash a pat on the back, and he sorta almost tripped!  <laff>....I think he had some beer in his system  ;D  Then we snuck outta the bar (the security was tight and didn't let anyone leave after them) and followed them to thier van...to say bye...Matt rolled down the window and was being his flirtatious self (blowing kisses, chatting us up)...he is so cute...haha....was the best event that summer (2004).
I also got to speak w./ Tommy after his gig in Toronto.  I joked around w/ him--I'm quite sarcastic...and he even chatted w/ me about his D&G pants (which he got on sale!...laff!)...I didn't mention gnr to him...
But I'm still waiting to meet Axl...hmmm...wonder if there will be another vistoria secret fashion show that he would attend in Toronto in the near future??
