Title: Grammys Feb. 8, 2006. Could GNR show up?
Post by: dolphin on January 28, 2006, 10:48:20 AM

Just wondering.

And Madagascar88 said an event would be happening that would make everyone think CD is coming sooner than you think when he interviewed Dizzy at his frat house.

What is everyone's opinion?

madagascar88 said this:

why on earth would I let you know in a week??? jesus... i'll put it down in laymans terms... Dizzy is participating in some event within a week ok? I will not be within a thousand miles of him when this event occurs so I will not know anything of what it produced.  It is what this event is and more importantly whose participating in said event that I'm keeping to myself.

like I said, just wondering if this is what event he meant

First thing, you shouldn't believe someone who gave us a semi-fake interview. Second, why would they play the grammys? They're not nominated for anything, so they wont be there.  The Grammys isn't well known for surprise performances. Theyre more likely to play at the Superbowl, and there's a zero percent chance of that happening.

maybe not perform, but present an award?

Again, I don't believe THE EVENT M88 refers to is something that will be public. IF any event actually takes place, it sounds to me that it will be more like a band meeting to discuss the album or perhaps future tour plans. If we're really lucky it may be a final photoshoot for the album artwork but that's a total shot in the dark.

and just how major will it be??

well... I'm not talking about a public announcement here... I just said that it could lead towards the forwarding of the release of Chinese Democracy

Is it something we would necessarily hear about?

no

So he couldn't be talking about the Grammy's or anyother public event.

The key word in the statement you just quoted is "could". That gives him an out. When the timeline he gave has expired, you will get the usual bullshit "plans change" line

Oh come on.  Where's the GNR spirit of "guessing where they'll make a surpise appearance this year such as superbowl, grammy's, mtv, vh1, etc.?" :P

As far as public events, there's the superbowl and there's the grammies.

As far as non-public events, the possiblities are endless...

No, you won't find out about this event.

I already did. Axl went for a bikini wax to prepare for a future band photo-shoot. Dont tell anyone, this is major hush-hush stuff.

Title: Re: Grammys Feb. 8, 2006. Could GNR show up?
Post by: Ax on January 28, 2006, 08:44:33 PM
I think the secret event that will signal that Chinese Democracy is coming is most likely something along the lines of a band meeting to discuss tour plans etc., or a photo shoot, or a video shoot, or it could be that Axl has said that he is finally done Chinese Democracy and is having a get together to celebrate that fact. These are all things that would signal that the record is nearing release, but we would not really hear about them occuring. Who knows, the possibilities are endless about what it could be, and those include the possibility that the guy who started the rumor was just full of it.

yes, many are inferring they know something and won't share.

i think it's puerile and sucks basically. Is this not supposedly a community? Whats to gain from holding out on fellow fans? ::)

They know nothing. Axl would probably refer to those clowns as "little people on a power trip".

Apparentely, Bruce Springstein is performing with a special guest.  Some have said they heard it was cold play (I read this off of another site).

But this just reminded me of 1994 : ok:

Sorry if you couldn't see through my thinly veiled joke...... Reunion or not GnR isn't going to be asked to the Grammy's, this isn't the VMA's. The Grammy's take themselves seriously.

If guns was out on tour and had an album or out about to come out then they most definately be asked to perform.

But they aren't, they don't, and it isn't. So any talk of them being there is pointless at this time. Like I said that show takes itself seriously, they aren't going to let Axl test fan response on their stage.

Im pretty sure he meant what you said, and likewise I dont think they would even try to(GNR ) that is. But if all goes as we would hope and like, and CD is indeed ther success many feel it will be, bet your damn ass that GNR will perform.

I would become the biggest Bono Fan in the world if he would take his guitar off and club Mary J. Blige, then kick her limp body into the crowd and finish his song by himself.

So this is now a thread where we all watch and give our opinions on the 3 hour event that obviously doesn't include GNR? Wake me up for the Bruce/Axl finale.
