Sorry if this has been covered here already.

There is an interview with Tommy Stinson on episode 16 of the Rhono Records Podcast (called Rhinocast).  I found it on itunes (put in rhinocast and you'll find it).  It is the 1/10/06 episode, but I think the interview was probably done last year...at least I hope so.  Tommy mentions that CD will hopefully come out "early next year".

In that TOmmy Interview on Splat he says that he was in the studio recently doing a quick "interlude to another song" he said that the music part of the album has been done for over 4 yrs and that the whole process was a collaborative effort{music wise}.

He says if things go as planned by "some1" that it should be out early next yr. :{

he said the last tour was a lot of fun but said that Buckethead was a nightmare....but he didnt go any further about that.

He also said that he wish he was out there with the band cause he loves the guys in the band.

I like the part where he says he was working on an "interlude" to a next song. I love interludes! I wonder if it is going to be a concept album? Interludes, complicated, epic......sounds like a Tool album or a Floyd album! I'm loving it. ?:peace:

I really wish this was from last year.

An interlude is a little musical/instrumental piece between songs-not a part of a song- that helps one song flow in to another.

Yeah, that was an interesting comment. Remember that Janet Jackson album where there was an interlude between each song? Interludes do seem to add a bigger sense of structure and a specific theme to an album.

The DJ refers to VGH as having been released last year-probably meaning 2004. my guess is the interview was done in 2005. probably december.

i think his comments about some of the producers on the project being bad was telling-i really think the producers thing has always been a sticking point with axl in terms of finding someone who shared his vision of the record.

I think it's not that old... But its from last year for sure.

I liked when he talked about the album and how good was the last tour - he said the Buckethead aspect was a nightmare for him.

He talks about the few shows he's done with Soul Asylum, so it's from this month.

I think it is from the end of December. I am almost certain. There was a few Soul Asylum shows before the Dec 23rd and 31st shows. I am guessing it was done between the 23rd and 31st of Dec. He referred to the Katrina relief show done last week-which show was that? I think it was the 23rd.

I'd like to know more about the buckethead stuff.

BTW, I think an instrumental solo bit in a song is sometimes called interlude as well. and no he didn't mean this.

Assuming its from the end of December, it looks like Tommy doesnt intend on joining any other bands fulltime any time soon--he seems to have alot of his own stuff going on b/w recording the end of the gnr stuff, the soundtrack he's scoring and then apparently another solo disc.

Is this the same interview that now today sp1at is saying this:

"Splat can exclusively reveal that Tommy Stinson has been interviewed by Rhino Records, his first interview for many months."

Yes. Rhino will be releasing a Replacements box set soon.? :drool: Tommy talks about that and all his other projects.

Tommy talks about the movie with Jenifer Garner too, so I don't think its jan 2005... I would say its from nov-dec. Someone should email the site to ask when it was made.

That "exclusive" bit was an honest mistake that has now been corrected.   It was obviously posted here first.

01-10-06 is either when the interview took place.. or.. when it was posted online. I think it was when it took place.

1/10/06 was definately the day the interview was posted onto itunes and NOT necessarily the day the interview took place.  I have a podcast on itunes as well and the date is a "release date"...meaning it is the date that it was made available on the site.  Since the Tommy interview is only a portion of that episode of Rhinocast, I have a strong feeling that it is an older interview from Dec that was added to make the episode longer.

In the interview, a couple of specific concerts are mentioned at venues in the LA area.  If anyone was really curious as to when the interview took place (like, they mentioned a show that happened "last Thursday" or something), they could do a little research and find out when those shows happened, date-wise.

And Axl said we'll hear music this year but the album isn't finished...

And Axl wouldn't rule out GNR playing concerts in 2006...

I guess we can conclude that if anything, GNR is looking to play at least one show in 2006, but not necessarily release an album.

He obviously meant this year (whether the interview took place early this month or late in December, he means 2006.

This is the same guy who went out on a three month tour in 2005 traveling around the country in a broken down truck with his bandmates....the same guy who stood out in the cold after shows, shaking hands with fans, and strumming the guitar for them. Uh-huh.  An obvious nightmare.

The interview was last year calm down, its a podcast its not gonna be live. The interview said to tommy so you released an album last year, which means 2004 for VGH. So when he says early next year, its 2006.

I think the interview happened in December when everybody who's close to the band thought it'd come out in early 2006. Remember Slash's comments... But plans changed.

I think the interview must've been from Sept-October. He talks about the other Katrina Relieve concert which took place in Memphis, so I assume it has to be in Sept or October'05.

The interviewer sucks though. He's got the voice to be a on a relaxation tape, not appropiate for a rock music show.

He says they played a benefit show "two weeks ago". The show was on October 28th, 2005.

Wow, great observation, Jarmo.  So, the interview took place in mid-November and didn't come out until January 10th.  That puts several of Tommy's comments in perspective.

Well if it was done in November, then it's a little dated--I guess we really won't know whats up with Tommy until he decides to tell us, which hopefully is soon...also, is richard still anserwing emails? if not, then it might be an indication that the guys are finishing up the last bit of what needs to be done on the last 6 or so tracks. let's hope.
