Title: Tracii Guns era
Post by: RichardNixon on January 08, 2006, 10:36:39 PM
Anyone know what songs GN'R played back in '85? Also, what songs did Tracii write for GN'R? Didn't he say we wrote a bulk of AFD?

I don't know of anywhere that Tracii says he wrote the bulk of AFD, but I have seen other LA Guns members say it.  I think Steve Riley was the one who said he wrote a lot of the album, then Phil Lewis said that he wrote a bunch of stuff but sold his share of the songs to Axl's manager for a one time payment.  I have seen Tracii say he wrote some parts uncredited but never really mentioned anything major.

Steve Riley and Phil Lewis helped write AFD? You gotta be kidding me. They were never even in GN'R!

I don't know about AFD, but I think Tracii did some of the guitar parts for Don't Cry.

If Don't cry actually was the first song GNR ever wrote, I'll guess Tracii could have helped out on some parts of the writing...

But of course, I dont know for sure

Don't forget, some of the GN'R songs were written before Tracii even joined.

He wrote nothing that was used. That's all that matters

I probably should have been more clear than using the word "he" after mentioning those two names.  The "he" refers back to Tracii in both cases, I was saying that the other LA Guns guys were claiming that Tracii wrote the songs.

All I've ever heard about Tracii writting anything on AFD was that I think one time in an interview he said that he came up with the guitar intro to SCOM,but I am sure that's all bullshit.

He said that

- he had written most of the AFD songs and the band wrote only 2 new songs (SCOM and Brownstone) without him
- he co-wrote Don't Cry

Well, it's obvious that his AFD-part is untrue.

Hilarious

If that was true he'd have sued for the millions in royalties he'd be owed.

you can't sue if you are foolish enough to sell your songs to someone else
happens all the time in the music buissiness
a songwriting credit is more who owns the song
than who wrote it
