Title: Axl on Stern next week?
Post by: Danny on January 04, 2006, 03:57:46 PM
Next week is the premier of Howard Stern on Sirius Radio.? There has been alot of talk about who the 1st guest will be...and it is rumored tobe somebody big who "hasn't been heard from in a while".? What are the chances that this could be Axl?? I know he appeared (via phone call I believe) on the old Stern show back in the late 80's and I know that Stern is a GNR fan.?

Also...I find it coincidental that some of the exact same sound bites from Martin Luther King that are used in the live versions of Madagascar are used in promo ads on Sirius for Stern's upcoming debut (which he is actually getting in trouble for using by MLK's family, apparently)...I'm talking about the "free at last" speech.

And here we go again...

Well, since Rolling Stones are confirmed to play at the superbowl's half time then some topic like this would be missing right?

PS.: Danny, I didn't meant to be rude ok?

how much dificult is to Axl show up to talk on tv shows, radio, sites and etc?... I mean, people care to go talk to Axl? somebody have "proves" of tv?s, radios and etc that they tryed to interview Axl and failed for some reason?

I didn't think that was rude at all, PW.

I was just thinking that if CD is really coming out in a couple of months (which I have pretty strong doubts about) then this would be a huge time to make a big appearance.  Stern's first show on Sirius would be pretty huge...there will be alot of listeners that day (including me).

;D lol ?I think this would be an absolutely awesome way to announce a single, release date, tour, etc. ?I don't think the odds are very good, but I think it would be very cool. ? ?

My god the rumours are flying around at the moment. Lets hope one of them drops!

Is Stern a fan of Axl / GN'R?

Even though Axl does fall under the category of "somebody big who hasn't been heard from in a while"..........
The MLK speech is just referring to Stern now being "free at last" from the FCC regulations that controlled what he could do/say on his old "public" radio show (i.e., he would get fined if somebody said things like 'shit' or 'fuck' on air).

Probably unlikely, but you never know-Stern and his people were reasonably complimentary of Axl back in 2002. Axl will have to find some venue to make a reaaperence and give an interview-stern is a logical choice.

But id still say its 99.5% unlikely

I want to believe this so bad, but I just can't.

I can't envision Axl going on Stern's show, especially when Stern trashed Axl's performance at the Mtv Vma's.  Stern is a fan of the old band but I don't think he cares too much for the new band.  I think I remember he did give a nice review to the Madison Square Garden 2002 performance.

Something caught my eye - 'Reporter Mike Piazza back in the Studio!'

Piazza is a reporter for "Howard 100 News"...which is what's played 24-7 on Stern's Sirius channels untill he starts there officially next Monday.  That is interesting...him being involved.  Something I didn't think of myself.

This is just another great opportunity to promote the album. A lot of people are buzzing about the debut of the new show. I hope somebody records it just in case... If the album is going to come out, he's gotta do an interview somewhere. This new format of the show is totally uncensored so that my appeal to axl.

I believe Howard Stern is going to be on Larry King Thursday night(?). Maybe he'll drop some clues as to who his guests will be.

Oh yeah, I know someone who knows someone who works on MTV who has the e-mail address of someone who know the cleaning lady who does Axl's house and he told me that GN'R will be, for sure, on VMA's this year!

? I've been saying for a long time here at HTGTH Axl should have a 1 on 1 interview with the King of all Media. ?Howard knows no bounds when it comes to interviews. ?It's not just the same old Entertainment Tonight fluff-shit. ?He'd ask about Axl's sex-life, questions about cosmetic surgery, drug use, why he left public life, etc. ?the juicy stuff.

? Even though I'd love it, I don't see it happening January 9th. ?I'd be dancing in the streets if it happened though!!! ? : ok:

On an episode of Next, one contestant was wearing a shirt with a frog on it. When GnR did the VMAs the last time, they were referred to as a hot new group called the Frogs.

The thing is when it's announced "somebody big who hasn't been heard from for a while" is going to be on a show will get thousands of internet sites on heat for their particular hero. No doubt some obscure Lord Lucan site will have messages saying "could it be !!!!..the timing is right"......or an Elvis site " can it be !!!!..its this aniversary..its that aniversary.. i think it will happen !!!"....its an internet thing..and it must be true...yeah right.

And this is the very reason I think Axl won't be willing to appear on Stern's show. Stern didn't move to Sirius to get all censored and to be prohibited from asking a multitude of questions.

The first time Axl was on Stern's old show is chronicled in his first book, Private Parts.  Just for fun, I've taken the liberty to type up the entire excerpt for everyone's reading enjoyment:

The first time I ever had Axl Rose from Guns N? Roses on was when a listener gave me his New York hotel phone number and we called him cold.

?Axl, it?s Howard Stern!  You?re on the radio, man!?  I greeted him.
   ?oh, yeah.  What?s Happening??
   ?Uh-oh, you?re sleeping,? I said.
   ?Waking up,? he said.
   ?I bet you?re there with a babe,? I said.
   ?No.?
?Come down, man.  I?ll put you on Dial-a-Date,? I offered.
?Maybe I need a breather,? Axl said.
?Did you ever get Jessica Hahn??
?I didn?t go after Jessica Hahn.  She needs a diet.?
?Did Slash get her?? I said, figuring someone from the band had done the honors.
?Slash used her for a spittoon.  He really enjoyed that,? Axl said.
?Hey, you must be getting, I?d say, ten women a week,? I guessed.
   ?Let?s say psycho-bitches,? Axl corrected.
   ?You get tattooed women??
?We just get crazy people.  If they last twenty-four hours, it?s amazing.  We give them like a twenty-four-hour test.  If they act normal for more than twenty-four hours, they get to stay.?
?I bet you?ve had three women at the same time.  What?s that like?? I needed to know.
?Usually somebody gets pissed off,? Axl said.
?Can?t you get the other girls to get it on with each other? That?s what I would have done.?
?Yeah, that happens,? he said nonchalantly.
?Oh, man!? I was dying with envy.
?The problem is they all get upset.  They don?t want me looking at another girl.  So I say, ?You didn?t pass the twenty-four-hour test.?  Then I call a friend and they politely escort the person out.?
That?s what I need.  A twenty-four-hour test ? to weed out every kook and asshole in my life.  I learned a lot from Axl Rose that day.

It was pretty cool.  I've had my Sirius for about a year now in anticipation of Stern coming there next week.  The "test show" yesterday was a very pleasant suprise on my way home from work.

And I aggree that the chances of Axl appearing as the first guest are slim.  Hell...I think the chance that we'll ever see Chinese Democracy is pretty slim (my current pool has it .005% coming out in Axl's lifetime).  I just thought that IF Chinese Democracy is coming out in March and IF he's looking to be a good boy and properly promote it's release, then he would be an interesting pick as Stern's first guest.

"Sirius"ly, I'm assuming Axl had a huge falling out with Clear-Channel, the promoters of the 2002 Tour.  I can't think of a better way to stick it in Clear-Channel's ass than to help out the biggest threat to terrestrial radio, satellite radio.    ;)

Ahhhh, this would fucking kick ass!  But like Dirt said, it's almost impossible to do the Stern Show without getting personal...and to Darkstar_Legend, you would definitely hear about the music too.  Howie is very thorough.

Next week is the premier of Howard Stern on Sirius Radio.  There has been alot of talk about who the 1st guest will be...and it is rumored tobe somebody big who "hasn't been heard from in a while".  What are the chances that this could be Axl?  I know he appeared (via phone call I believe) on the old Stern show back in the late 80's and I know that Stern is a GNR fan.

Just a thought.

I don't see why it shouldn't happen. I believe the albums done... and if it really is March like Slash said then this would be the perfect time to start promoting.. perfect place too.

Chinese Democracy starts in 2 months?

BA BA BOOEY!!!
Dude I'm just as excited as you are for Howard to start monday on Sirius. No way will the first guess be Axl. It's going to be a surprise guest for the Stern fans. (Jackie coming back, a new show host, Tom C. etc). Sirius is just now over the 3 million subscriber mark and that is no where near the 15 to 20 million listeners Howard once had. It's a good idea though but anymore people are just jumping to find something about CD.

As for Sirius if you dont have it get it! A ton of Guns played on some of the channels of music. What I would like to see is a all Guns channel, similar to the Rolling Stones channel they have now.

Jackie came back on the second to last show for a sit down interview. I think it will be someone from his NBC days. Could it be Pig Vomit?

So...Axl fits in with MTV's current style?? Ok.

And Stern himself talked about a suprise first guest yesterday on the "dress rehersal" episode of the show.

D

We don't know, we haven't heard his "new" album.

I don't know, I think if Axl could learn to laugh at himself a bit and not take himself so seriously, he and Howard could probably have one crazy, funny interview, but if it's true what they say about Axl having "don't ask" stipulation then  I really can't see Howard abiding by it...it would be nice though if Axl would let his hair down (literally and figuaratively lol) and just go with it...answer all those questions that everyone wants to know on the Stern show...it's gotta be better than talking to magazine reporters...

LOL...I know this is a not really much of anything...but...

Stern starts on the 9th, right? Well, that night at Snitch (yes, the club in NYC owned by Duff and Weiland) is hosting a thing called "Live Rock Karaoke" with host Jim Breuer and they are said to have some "special guests from the Howard Stern show."

I know, I know...it means nothing...but I just thought I'd share.

Pig Vomit has already been interviewed by Howard 100 news.  He wasn't interesting at all.  So I doubt he'd be a good guest.

For those who don't know already, Jim Bruer already hosts a (very funny) show on Sirius.  He has talked about Axl in the past on his show.

Hehe Pig Vomit.

...and yes Sirius does kick much ass. Sirius S50...my precious. Kool trippy little motherfucker. Man Axl should do a sit down on Howard 100. Perfect place for Axl. He can say Home fuck and DTJ Motherfucker. Fuck you faggots. Suck my cock.

And we can laugh, because it would actually sound like Axl. Instead of R2-D2 "Beep blip dip Rrrr Beep." Man fuck terrestrial radio. Free FM when things are anything but free. If Axl does get around to doing an interview, It better be with Howard. I want to hear him speak and hear all the words.

I watched Howard Stern on CNN last night on Larry King,he talked a lot about the new show and specially about his first show on monday,he didn't mention nothing about a special guest, but what he did say that he prefers to have more often working on the show these funny characters like Jeff the Drunk,Beetlejuice, etc, than a celebritie,he said celebs don't act real most of the time when they are on the show.
I've been listining to Howard for years,I really like him and I never heard him say that he's an Axl fan so I don't know where you get that from.

Satelite radio kinda blows as people can't get it outside of the US or Canada at this time, although many do illegally.

Axl should never promote on stern as stern is a washed up hasband who admittedly said he hasn't done good radio in the last 15 years.  Not to mention the shit stern has talked on axl over the years.

XM is a much better company than sirius and holds a 2 to 1 ratio of listeners.  XM currently has 6 million listeners to 3 million for sirius. The xm technology is far superior to sirius and their talent is lesser known but much better than what sirius offers.

Opie and Anthony on XM would be a better option with more listeners and a much better show than HOO HOO HOWIE.  Howie would do his same old lame sex interview with axl.

Dude just cause you dont like satellite radio or howard stern doesn't mean its not good. And what facts are you basing the "XM is better than Sirus" shit from? Just because theres more listeners? XM started first.. its purely a head start thing there. And what "technology" are you refering to?

We've already had the sirius vs. xm and O&A vs.? Stern discussions in The Jungle.? Perhaps you'd like to check it out?

On topic, Stern is getting a huge amount of publicity right now, and its likely whoever his guest is on day 1, it will make news.? But I really don't think Axl is a celebrity that Howard has been anxious to have on.  I've never heard him mention it, anyway.

XM: Opie and Anthony & baseball or SiriuS: Stern & Football? You be the judge.

I will Take Stern and Football for the win. I also have a cock and balls so that may have something to do with it.

And GnRFL, I am going to ask you nicely to take out "The wrong two Beatles died first." A real Beatles fan knows exactly who contributed what, and that is some stupid ignorant shit and disrespectful to not only Paul, but to John and George. Maybe you should try something honest, personal, or clever instead of garbage.

I was just thinking that if CD is really coming out in a couple of months (which I have pretty strong doubts about) then this would be a huge time to make a big appearance.? Stern's first show on Sirius would be pretty huge...there will be alot of listeners that day (including me).

I agree.  But unfortunately Axl has missed several golden opportunities to unleash CD to the world and doesn't seem to care.  I'd love to know his "logic of thinking" in that respect.  It has to be mind-boggling.
