Title: Earliest version of November Rain?
Post by: kaasupoltin on January 02, 2006, 09:08:00 AM
Yeah, I'm just wanderin' if anyone knows when November Rain was recorded for the first time.. 'Cause I just bought a vinyl including songs from Perkins Palace, Pacific Amphitheater, CBGB's and studio versions of November Rain, Jumping Jack Flash, Heartbreak Hotel and Back Off Bitch. It says that the studio songs are recorded in 1987. Can it really be so? There's no piano in it, just guitar and Axl + backing vocals. Lyrics are also bit different. I have alot of bootlegs and stuff, but I havent ever heard this kind of version of NR.

the old bootleg piano version has Axl saying "Again and again and again and again and again and again".  glad he worked on that a bit before they formally recorded it.

Actually Axl was working with Alice In Chains during that time. You know that song "Again"... it used to be called "Rain Again?"  :hihi:

This is a guitar version, and Axl sings that 'Again and again and again and again and again and again..' on this one also. But I dont think this is any rare material  :P

I have that piano demo with the again and again etc part. Does anyone hear female vocals in the background? just wondering who that is? I doubt it would be tracey or roberta.

Instead of November Rain, does he say Sweet Lorraine?

Is that the bit legendary bit during Slash's first guitar solo on Rocket Queen where Axl can be heard working his magic on a stripper? I didn't hear any of that on November Rain.

the stripper was Adrianna Somebody or another,Barbi was a friend of Axl's,she was in a band called Rocket Queen at the time.

instead of the acoustic version I loved the one with piano only...it sounds  like 70's, elthon jhon type...  and listening to just axl and the piano ...wow loved it the first time i heard that demo.

I have both the acoustic and the piano ones. Are they from the same time? Do all the versions drag and hiss?
