Title: Mr brownstone: AFD or live era version
Post by: Irish gunner II on December 28, 2005, 08:29:42 PM
I think the live version flows better. Just because of the word fucking put in at the start the song flows better at that point.

I much liked, the version Izzy Stradlin sang  with Matt, Duff and Slash.

NO FUCKING WAY!
AFD era is the best one.
The only live versions that come close are some of the Izzy era shows (87 to 91) but not even those are awsome because Izzy`s guitar was really low, and Izzy is crucial in this songs riff.So AFD all the way.
Paris 92?Neither Matt nor Gilby could keep the groove going like Steven and Izzy did.And even if Gilby could, we would never know cause Slash guitar was so much louder you can barely listen to Gilby in a couple of songs.

The best has to be on Appetite. And the best Live Version is from The Ritz '88 without a shadow of doubt. Just listen to it.

I'd have to say it's a tie. Both are very good in my opinion.

I didn't like Mr Brownstone during the UYI tour. I feel the tempo was totally lost right from Matt's drumming at the start.

Totally agree with that.  That song isn't the same without Steven.  I'm no drumming expert, but I can tell if something just doesn't sound right.  And Brownstone with Matt drumming just didn't sound right to me.  It wasn't bad, but it wasn't nearly as good as when Steven was behind the kit.  I like the AFD version.

I agree with the last few posts.  on AFD, Steven drums a perfectly rhythmic intro.  on the Live Era version, Matt Sorum smashes the hell out of the drums and destroys all rhythm.  There is no comparison, I can't even stand to listen to any performance of the song without Steven.
