Title: Roger Waters 2007 North American Tour Post by: Malcolm on December 20, 2005, 10:03:06 AM Pink Floyd singer/guitarist David Gilmour will back his forthcoming solo album, "On An Island," with a world tour that touches down in North America next spring. Gilmour will launch the run with a European trek that kicks off in early March, and will then head to North America for a brief series of April performances. Two-night stands are scheduled in New York City, Toronto, Chicago and Oakland, CA, and single-night engagements are set at a pair of Los Angeles-area venues. Details are included below.
"I'm very much looking forward to this tour and making music with the great musicians in the band," Gilmour said in a statement. "I've had a fantastic time making 'On An Island' and really want to perform tracks from it, along with my more familiar repertoire." Members of Gilmour's official fan club will have first dibs on tickets via an online presale that starts Tuesday (12/20). Information about the fan club is posted at Gilmour's website. All remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public via Ticketmaster during the second weekend in January, according to Columbia Records. (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company.) "I'm rather hoping that, with this tour announcement, people will believe me when I say, honestly, this is the only band I plan to tour with," Gilmour added, an obvious reference to rumors that he and the rest of the classic Pink Floyd lineup would be mounting a reunion tour. The members--Gilmour, bassist Roger Waters, drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Richard Wright--reunited earlier this year for a one-off performance in London as part of the Live 8 multi-city concert event. It was the lineup's first time on stage together since 1981. "On An Island" is due in stores March 7. The set's title track features Gilmour teamed with David Crosby and Graham Nash. Title: Re: David Gilmour- 2006 On An Island Tour & Roger Waters European Tour Post by: Malcolm on February 28, 2006, 04:16:14 PM Pink Floyd's Roger Waters has announced a European tour, along with the promise of a full performance of his former band's album Dark Side Of The Moon in France.
The confirmed concerts start with an appearance at Portugal's Rock In Rio - Lisbon festival June 2. From there, he'll do at least 10 dates in Italy, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Greece and Denmark, staying on the road through July 12. According to Waters' official Web site, the former Pink Floyd bassist/vocalist will be joined by ex-bandmate Nick Mason on drums for a live version of Dark Side Of The Moon. The site does not specify whether the event will be a one-off or a tour, stating simply, "Somewhere in France. This summer." Details are expected shortly.
