Title: Channel 4 text mentions democracy
Post by: ckgent on December 05, 2005, 04:45:04 AM
Wasn't sure if this should be added to a different section or not, but on my usual wake up check of teletext on channel 4, it mentioned the ever ilusive album.

The article mentions how Guns appear ready to release the album after pre-orders are being taken at online shops.

Of course they only mention Amazon listing it with a new years eve release.

Only reason i thought id mention this, is that the word appears to be spreading quickly.

Channel 4 usually is up to date on its reports, and it covers all music, so where they got the news is a wonder.

I know Europe gets all the cool stuff first.  My last three cell (or, as they're called over there, mobile) phones I've bought from either the UK or Germany.  Don't even get me started on the technological panacea that is Japan.  For some reason everyone else gets all the toys.

Oh, and on-topic, its good to see this story getting more coverage - if nothing else, it might force someone to issue a statement, even if its just for damage control purposes.

This must be the most news we've heard in years. I mean noise from the GNR underground. Rumors are flying once again and nobody has yet to deny them. I wonder if Axl and Co., are rehearsing yet? Maybe a News Year Eve show somewhere. Any site of them together lately, maybe this week we'll hear of some gnr sightings. If so, we'll know somethings major is happening.

Personally, i think it's sad that supposed 'reliable' media outlets pick up their entertainment news from messageboards. The way the story is framed it makes it seem like a bunch of online shops are taking preorders and there's a release date and everything--all we have is a listing on ONE retailer's site with NO release date--granted, it's Amazon, and that the page is STLL up is intruiging, but still, I wish supposed 'journalists' would get their facts right!

Some media outlets tend to just report whatever they see on the internet.  For example, here in Pittsburgh the classic rock station has been reporting the date that's given on the Google listing pretty regularly for over a year now, ever since I first started seeing mentions of it on here a while back.  Just yesterday I heard them say "It looks like GNR have pushed back the Chinese Democracy album to March now".

Great point, Nic! In the good old days, journalists actually got their info from insiders and reliable sources. Now the majority get their info from the net. Pretty fucking sad.

yeah, when major media outlets list their source as some unhinged hack from 'sp1at', we know we're in trouble
