There is a Don't Cry Alt. video.  I have it on VHS.  MTV used to play it, but I was never sure if MTV made it, or if GN'R did.  Good topic!

there were videos for both released.

So the Alt. version was released by Geffen?  It wasn't just MTV playing the Don't Cry video to the Alt. version audio?

watch the video, they use roof top footage of axl singning along with the alt. lyrics. Geffen would have mixed that, not Mtv

So is this video rare?  I will sell it for $1,000,000.

its not that rare as i have a copy too on DVD by the looks of it it the same visuals different song because where Axl sings the chorus is the only time you see lip synching please correct me if im wrong

I agree too. Don't Cry (Alt. Lyrics) just seems more mature to me than the original...

at the end when babies eyes are green the pupil is shaped like an apple or a cherry or something.  it's pretty cool.  i think the babies name is joseph!!!!

Not to bash Dont cry original, but it wasn't the first GNR song that was written? perhaps thats why IMHO Alt lyrics is better, once again IMHO.

Yeah, it was the first song written, that's why Alt. lyrics sound more "mature".  They were written during the recording of Illusions.

I like the Alt Lyrics way better. Except for that damn mixing job where you can hear the part from the original version fading into the third chorus. ugh

I saw the Alt Video too once. I remember it just being rooftop footage?

i think they did a good job of it...although it would have been cool if they just recorded another version of it all together :peace:

I have the video it takes place on the top of the transamerica building in LA, ya it's makin fuckin videos part 1, shannon hoon's in it. it interviews alot of the band members like dizzy and shannon and duff,  shows how the hole thing came about and how it was made.  if anyone hasn't seen this i think its pretty cool, good one to kick back and watch.
