My "guess" is that Cd is closer than ever to be released.
The courtcase was delayed untill the spring 06, guess why?
Mr Axl Rose will be busy with promotion of CD!!!

I think catcher in the rye could be released as a single, december 8 ( 25 years after Mr Lennons death)!!

I did, and you are right, interesting.  I think no one wants to believe him because he comes off as a little bit arrogant.  But he was right about the greatest hits thing.  Maybe he does know somebody. 

It just so happens his prior posts were correct, mainly info about the first Greatest Hits. We shouldn't be so quick to dismiss what he's saying......

How on earth can any band release a single on the 8th December that has not been promoted by or ciculated to radio stations before now?

I'll get down and pray he's right of course, but this seems even less likely than GH2 being released.

Personally I see Geffen being pi$$ed off and releasing GH2 and it results in another court case and another 5 year delay.

I guess that depends on what camp you belong in regarding promotion.

I for one, feel that little to no promotion is really required - this thing is so shrouded in secrecy that a low-key, word of mouth type deal is all that is needed.

Well, a single is how you start promotion.  It's pretty simple really:  press release, single, video, album.

 Yes it is very simple.  And it will happen one day and this all would really be pretty smart. Release single Dec 8th. Then best of (and I do love that title, Welcome to the Jungle, The very best of Guns N Roses) Then video, then album first quarter 2006.     :beer:

Well, that would be nice if that was the case. Unfortunately at the moment there's no proof of it being true.

For example, a release date or word from Axl himself about his plans....

If he put the case back to 06 just for the Chinese Democracy release.. then I doubt hes gonna world tour.. or anything big like that.. unless he waits till after the case.. sometime in late 06...  :nervous:

Very interesting track record. He has been right all this time.

I'm inclined to believe him... when he said cd didn't exist- I read that as his opinion based on what his sources felt about the matter... not as the reporting of actual news. I'm sure high-ups at Universal, who are not intimately involved in CD, have given up several times and concluded that the thing doesn't exist. It must be frustrating as hell to be beaten over the head about how the "golden goose" (CD) is going to come along one of these years and line everyone's pockets- only to have it constantly fizzle out... especially for execs not directly involved.

Anyway, sounds like his sources are somewhat more optimistic at the moment... which ain't much... but it's something. : ok:

It's one thing when you claim to live in Los Angeles and your IP# is in Europe (for example), but Johan hasn't claimed anything like that as far as I know.

Those other posts were from 2004...he hasn't posted anything in over a year before this post. ?He doubted the existence 18 months (as alot of people did)...now he may have more info.

But since singles are released on Tuesdays, I'd say his info is bad this time.

I'm not saying this Rumor could be true or anything, but CD Singles aren't very popular in North America. If a single is released it would prolly be to radio stations. And I'm guessing a radio premier of a song could be any day of the week. I don't know anything about radio stations though. Maybe darknemus could shed light on how that works in general.

He said "I think" in regards to the single. He could therefore be unsure of the date or simply forgot it when posting.

From his post, English may not be his first language, so maybe he's somewhere where singles aren't released on Tuesdays?

That's right. Especially in this day and age, a single could drop at a moment's notice..at least in the US. And that's not to say there will be a single available in stores, but a promo CD sent to several radio stations, and having it available digitally at iTunes. That would take very, very little effort to make happen. Not saying it will, but it's entirely possible.

forget about singles and when they are released. It is rare and no1 cares about the actual single cd anymore here in the US. A single can be played by the radio station at any point in time.

True. Just make the single/track available on Itunes and other digital music sites.

I think part of the confusion with Johan's posts is that he tends to combine what he "thinks" with what he "knows" (or claims to know).  If you really read what he wrote, he only said he thinks the single could come on December 8.  He didn't say anyone told him that. 

For those wondering where he's from, I think he said in one of his previous posts that he was from Europe, didn't he? Anyway, he was right about the GH thing, so the question is did he really have "inside" information or was he just lucky?  Could he have got the information from some other source, available to everyone? 

Or a MTV premier of a promo.

By the way, people, don't be fooled by 'insiders'  2 cents put in among their hearsay info!  :peace:

I dunno about this, I think if we see anything before christmas it'll be a Single only, maybe this guy is right? he has been before. My local store said nothing shows up on their computer about an album though so I doubt any album will be out by Christmas

The best of CD would not being coming out if CHIN DEM was also,

no record co. is going to waste the time and money of puting out both at the same time

GH 2 would be commercial suicide w/ CHIN DEM right around the corner

If CHIN DEM came right after, GH 2 would be ignored and forgotten as soon as the new CD hit stores

Marketing is part of the Game, no one thought of this one ?

Or rather, CHIN DEM release may well help the sales of GH 2 (iff it's real), as well as the sales of GH reissue ('s real), I suppose.

i think the hype is groWING !

My only issue with this guy is that he said in the GH1 thread that Universal had "given up CD" and that the band was finished.  He even said "this is 100% (true)".

Now the infamous and near mythic "Catcher In The Rye" is dropping December 8th and CD soon to follow?

Can't rule out the possibilities in the GN'R world but in my opinion this demonstrates that this guy may be a little quick to judge - meaning the possibility of him "jumping the gun" on this "inside scoop" can't be denied.  How many times have we heard everyone but Axl say the promotion is coming and CD is close?

And on a humorous note: let's say some executive at Universal really did hear from Axl's manager that Axl said he's really prepared to do it now and everything is about to kick off and the album is coming soon.......all it takes is seemingly one day.  The Lakers could lose tomorrow and the whole thing could be shot to hell!!
