I don't think they are good bands specially compared to Metallica and GNR, the music those days were more elaborated, than nowadays that sounds like everyone can do it, there used to be bands like pearl jam, nirvana, blind melon, RHCP that have great music in their albums and as for the good charlotte new found glory and stuff like that I dont think so

I'd like to think it's The Strokes, Kings of Leon, etc. but being realistic it's probably more along the lines of green day and my chemical romance, who suck ass.

Sorry boss, Just relax k? It was a joke. Besides I didn't realize that Korn was still considered metal, they are a bunch of fucking pansies now (well since their 2nd album)

And Evolution asked for a "heavy" rock band. To me rock is rock, I don't obther with metal and heavy metal and nu-metal and classic rock and soft rock and adult rock and pop rock and you get the point. anyway if i like it's good if i don't it's shit.

@ Evolution you wanna hear some new good stuff that's a bit heavy? check out 3 days grace. I saw them open for VR in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and they were really fucking good. : ok:

i guess SOAD are pretty big to. i think green day must be pretty big cause they have their songs on the tv and radio alot in australia. they still have holiday come on every now and then. green day have 5 videos from american idiot which is kinda like how G n R released so many albums from the UYI's. that aint a bad thing , there are plenty of worse bands than green day. i love em im gonna see them next month. i saw em in january now im seeing them again, there a good live band, maybe not in skill but in energy. anyone else seen em live?

Green Day isn't a rock band..

Well they're damn sure not punk.  As far as "heavy" is concerned, I would say Metallica.  Even though their album sales have slumped, they are a big draw at their concerts, and thats where the money is.

Green Day is bad pop music.

What about Disturbed?  Do we consider them rock?  I don't particularly care for them, but they did have the #1 album in the country didn't they?

I'm not really crazy about modern music, there hasn't been a band yet that caught my attention. Guns n' Roses were the last real band, in my book. : ok: :headbanger:

None of the bands listed are really BIG though.
Green Day are big... U2 are bigger with parents than kids I think.

But bands like My Chemical Romance, Disturbed, SOAD... They all just have their little pockits of fans.

Nirvana, Metallica, Pearl Jam and GNR were HUGE while still being totally un-mainstream. The mainstream conformed to them, they didn't go out trying to be like everyone else.
There is no one who can compare SOAD to the popularity of Metallica in the Black Album days.

Even a band like Audioslave is nowhere as big as Soundgarden were in '94 for example.

Rock music has taken a backseat to rap as "the most popular music."
I think its a good thing. It was big for too long. Now there is finally a new Alternative scene growing. And by "alternative," I mean just that. Its different/un-mainstream.
Bands like Modest Mouse, Interpol and The Shins make me happy to be alive these days. Reminds me of the scene REM were a part of in the 80s.

Look past your TV screen and you'll find a world of great music

ive nether gotten into u2 all that much. i used to listen to the joshua tree alot but i dont know compared to something like GnR or metallica there music just doesnt make me feel excited. they have there own style which i give em credit for and bono has his own unique voice.

it's so difficult to judge with all the music downloads causing cd sales to slump so much... cd sales wise... probally green day... even though im not quite sure i consider them rock...

then you might want to take a look at concert sales to judge... Bon Jovi's Have A Nice Day Tour is a massive success... U2's Vertigo tour was a massive success as well...

But really, its so hard to judge with downloads and such...

Their aren't really "huge" rock bands of mass appeal like there were in the early 90's, the musical climate is very different to how it was back then. But if I was to pick a few that still have a pretty big following I'd say Foo Fighters, Audioslave, U2, Metallica, Green Day.
