Title: help with gn'r film.
Post by: Axl8302 on November 03, 2005, 11:28:03 AM
hi, for my final project at university i'm making a half hour documentary on guns n roses. Dont worry it wont be in the same vain as 'sex, drugs and rock n roll'. I'm writing to tell you this as i plan to use alot of archive footage of gn'r and my collection only has so much. i know it's alot to ask but if anyone has the means to copy any rare intervies or news broadcats or clips of live shows, it would be very much aprecieted if they would donate said items to me!! i thought i would just ask, just in case...................

Thanks, T-

My best advice to you would be to use the HUB and search for your video clips. I'm sure you will find virtually EVERYTHING that has been available there.

If it exists, chances are you''ll find it on the Hub. You might be able to find some great rare footage on this site too, as well as gunsnroses.us, or gnrsucks.com has a fair bit of interview clips if I remember correctly.

I think you would get a better grade if you include fan encounters and comments.  Have some fans video tape themselves answering some questions you have from a fans point of view and add that to your presentation.  Then they can e-mail their parts and you can just add it in.

i think you should approach the label about it. I dont think they will give you anything, bu they would have to then run it past mr rose and his lawyers. Approval or disapproval would then come from him. Make it appealing enogh and you just never no what kind of response you get, especially if it was to feature the new band in great detail.

For educational purposes, the use of the material is covered under fair use.  Unless he's going to be showing the documentary for profit, he doesn't need to get permission.

hey thats interesting, filmmaking is my hobbie and I plan to go to a filmschool next year in l.a. one time i had the idea of filming a coma music video but it would've been too expensive to do, another one was 2 hour documentary of Gn'r (to be done in the future of course with interviews) , imagine seeing a gnr pro shot show in the theater.
