Title: Duff's solo work Post by: Toast960 on February 23, 2004, 11:17:43 PM I got a copy of "Believe In Me" from a friend of mine who's a big GNR fan and this cd is great!!!. I looked up Duff's other solo stuff and I want to know, what's up with this 1999 album? Apparently no one knows anything about this cd. Why?
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: jarmo on February 24, 2004, 01:24:56 AM Beautiful Disease never got released.

Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: jellyhead on February 24, 2004, 01:05:42 PM Beautiful Disease is leagues better than Believe In Me, which is pretty embarrasing in places i.e. that rap track, the spoken word speech on the last track. Yuk!
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: Captain P?l on February 24, 2004, 05:42:36 PM only some promo copy's where sold... and duff even wanted the album availeble free online for the fans who wanted to hear him (how sweet) i think it was hosted by gnrmp3warehouse.com (god i miss that place!) it was online for 24 hours (so it was legal) and it even asked us to delete the files after having them for 24hours, wonder if anyone did that :p
it really is a kick ass album! go duff! Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: Jizzo on February 24, 2004, 07:56:15 PM I enjoy "Fuck You". Its a decent song with deep meaning
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: Dizzy on February 24, 2004, 09:16:09 PM I have a CDR of Beautiful Disease and it is indeed a great album. Truly a shame that it never got released. As jellyhead said, it is leagues better than Believe in Me.
Duff actually sings on Beautiful Disease. Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: metallex78 on February 25, 2004, 06:40:31 AM Beautiful Disease I think so far is the best release from any of the ex-members. Better than Snakepit, better than Gilby & Izzy's albums. It actually shows allot of promise for VR and how talented Duff really is.
A million times better than the half-assed Believe In Me. I think if you took all the best parts of the solo albums and combined them, you'd easily have something on par or better than what GN'R have released. This is what I'm hoping for with Contraband! Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: blues_rock_axeman on February 26, 2004, 09:55:40 AM I've downloaded a lot of Beautiful Disease, and it's fuckin brilliant. Geffen dropped a great album there.
'Song for Beverly' is amazing. Truly incredible. It was an album that came from a period when Duff's rollercoaster ride had just ended, and he was reflecting. to Duff (Non alcoholic, naturally) Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: jet on February 26, 2004, 11:43:58 AM Could you give this link?

I was able to download "Seattle Head" and it's hard & heavy. Kinda grungy. I like it. It's almost impossible to find his songs though! Too bad he didnt release the album :( Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: jarmo on February 27, 2004, 07:40:53 PM It's almost impossible to find his songs though! Too bad he didnt release the album :( Some songs are on Loaded's "Dark Days". Which isn't a bad album. :) /jarmo Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: Dizzy on February 27, 2004, 11:10:45 PM Maybe I'm missing something here, but where are these reviews??? I see a tracklisting and song lyrics, but no review... Click on each song (except for "Seattle Head") and Duff's song descriptions are above the lyrics. Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: Scottyl333 on May 04, 2004, 06:52:13 PM I saw his CD "Believe in Me" at a used CD place. Should I buy it? I love Izzys and Gilby's solo stuff but am not sure about Duff. Also, is Matt Sorums solo album any good?
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: Dizzy on May 04, 2004, 06:56:39 PM Believe in Me is mediocre IMO. But if you can download his unreleased album Beautiful Disease, it is well worth it.
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: ckgent on May 05, 2004, 07:41:20 PM i would say buy it. Personallyi think out of all the solo stuff duffs is the best. i think its cause its ruffer in areas, and has some cool guest spots on it. Seb bach on trouble is fukin awsome.
I have been to see duff, snakepit(1st album) and gilby live aswell. Out of the 4 shows(slash twice), duffs was by far the best. It was in 93 in a club that only held 300 people, the day b4 spagetti was released. It was fukin killer. Buy it now!!!!!! Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: Rebecca Duff Rose on June 06, 2004, 11:39:59 AM BUY IT!

I got it used at a cd store. It was worth the $5 bucks. Did duff have an another album you could only download? If so is it still available?
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: tomass74 on June 13, 2004, 09:29:42 PM I always liked it. There are actually some great songs on their as well as guests. I know Jeff Beck, Lenny Kravitz and Sebastian Bach are on there.
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: shaun on September 18, 2004, 06:49:00 PM Duff's album, what was it called? is it still available?
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: jrs2001_99 on September 18, 2004, 07:53:44 PM Duff produced 2 solo albums, the first was relaesed in '93, called "Believe in Me". You shoudl be able to get a hold of that somewhere. The second was called "Beautiful Disease", which, as far as I know, never got released as it got shelved during a record company take-over etc.
Duff later formed a band called "Loaded", featuring Dave Kushner of VR, who released at least 1 album. I don't know if they released any more though... Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: ClintroN on May 11, 2005, 11:37:29 PM I reckon VR should be cranckin' some of Duffs solo work from Beleive in Me, man that fuckin' album kicks arse!!!!!
even Slash's solo would be cool!! rather then just GNR n' STP!! what do ya think?? Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: metallex78 on May 12, 2005, 12:08:14 AM Yeah, I think some of the better solo songs by those guys should be played.
I didn't really like Believe In Me, but songs from Beautiful Disease would be great to hear! Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: ClintroN on May 12, 2005, 03:31:13 AM does anyone have Beautiful Disease at all??
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: mikegiuliana on May 12, 2005, 04:59:20 PM Nice idea, but I think they just need to create more new music and add it to the setlist..
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: ClintroN on May 12, 2005, 07:00:41 PM i know Duff played em' when he was in Loaded, shame to waist some real good songs!!
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: Smoking Guns on May 13, 2005, 12:36:04 PM Beggers and Hanger Ons would be pretty damn cool, but will never happen.
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: ClintroN on May 13, 2005, 05:14:47 PM Beggers and Hanger Ons would be pretty damn cool, but will never happen. whats that dude?? Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: mikegiuliana on May 13, 2005, 05:20:05 PM Beggers and Hanger Ons would be pretty damn cool, but will never happen. whats that dude?? it was a single from the first snakepit album.. Pretty cool tune.. Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: audjon on May 13, 2005, 09:02:03 PM I would personally love to see them re-record some of their previous solo stuff and release it as b-sides.
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: ClintroN on May 13, 2005, 11:18:29 PM why not, it's the coolest shit i've heard!!
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: Rob on May 14, 2005, 01:00:43 AM I wouldn't mind hearing them crack out a Duff or Slash solo tune once in a while, but that would also open the door for some Weiland solo stuff. And I don't wanna hear that. I'll be happy enough next week when I hear them play It's So Easy and Mr. Brownstone live. You know what I'd really like to hear? Some different GN'R tunes. Of course it would have to be something Weiland could handle, cause he's no Axl.
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: ClintroN on May 14, 2005, 12:20:55 PM im with you dude.
The thing is, VR was origenaly The Project.....Duff,Slash n' Matt. They created this, they should do it!! Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: SlashRocks on May 15, 2005, 03:07:57 PM hey ive never actually hrd any of duffs solo stuff but he fuckin rocks so if any knows anywer wer i can hear sum cud u tel me? cheers : ok: :smoking:
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: Carlos_f_Rose on May 19, 2005, 07:20:53 PM I reckon VR should be cranckin' some of Duffs solo work from Beleive in Me, man that fuckin' album kicks arse!!!!! even Slash's solo would be cool!! rather then just GNR n' STP!! what do ya think?? Man, i think it would be great that Velvet Revolver will play... DUFF 's solo albums songs.... Specially believe in me, just not there and specially Trouble... but maybe someone else should sing this latter Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: duffslover on May 29, 2005, 02:32:46 PM Duffs solo work totally KICKS ASS!!!!!? ?:beer:? Beautiful Disease iz so cool.? i don't know which i prefer though;
guns n' roses, velvet revolver, neurotic outsiders, loaded, or his solo stuff. anything with Duff in is fine with me.? :-* :peace: r there any women on theis message board? i can't find any? ??? Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: deliverthecow on May 29, 2005, 10:35:59 PM I was hoping maybe they would play some of there previous solo work but i doubt it will happen. I doubt on the next tour after they have another studio album under there belt the GnR and STP stuff will disapear from there sets as well but that isn't a bad thing, they are Velvet Revolver not GnR or STP .
Back to the topic, Duff's solo stuff is killer, Believe In Me has some good ideas going on but Duff was so messed up it really hurt his vocals, I heard a boot of a Loaded gig were he pulled out som BIM stuff and it was damn good live. Amazing what sobriety can do for a person. Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: purplehaze1988 on October 30, 2005, 09:32:15 AM Sorry if this has been? done before but i couldn't find a thread that answered all of my questions.
Anyway, does anyone have Believe in Me? Is it just punk songs, TSI?-esque, or is it like GNR/Snakepit/etc. Is it even still in print? Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: lastroots on October 30, 2005, 09:40:56 AM It is long out of print but you'll find it on eBay.
It is mostly punkish but with clear GN'R influences, Slash playing on a song, Sebastian Bach and Lenny Kravitz singing, it's a good and solid album which I like a lot. /lastroots Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: purplehaze1988 on October 30, 2005, 12:47:08 PM is it illegal to dl duffs albums as they are out of print (im gonna do it anyway, im just curious)
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: lastroots on October 30, 2005, 01:07:51 PM Of course it is illegal and I find it sad that you want to dl it. Get the real thing and you have a CD with kick ass artwort and stuff for maybe t3wo bucks on eBay.
/lastroots Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: purplehaze1988 on October 31, 2005, 11:45:33 AM $2 my arse. I've seen it for about $30, and anyway i dont have an ebay or paypal account, and its not like im stealing cos its out of print, neither duff nor the record company loses out.
Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: *Izzy* on October 31, 2005, 12:42:15 PM and its not like im stealing cos its out of print, neither duff nor the record company loses out. That's true Title: Re: Duff's solo work Post by: GNR - CROATIA on November 02, 2005, 10:34:29 AM I bought Belive in me when it came out.
I thought it was an great album back then and still think it is an good album today. I can't say that Slash' 'It's 5 o'clock...' and even more 'ALG' haven't topped it as my fav's, but hey, everyone likes something else. I personally would alwys preffer Slash work over Duff's. However, one thing I have to mention, get all Slash, Duff and Gilby's first album if you have a chance great stuff. Belive in me and Ten years are my favorite tunes from that album (Gilby co-wrote some songs). Belive in me had an video, though, it was as rear as Slash' Beggars and hangers on, I saw it only once back in the days. BTW, if anyone would like to trade Beautiful disease for something, leave a message. Have quiet a lot of boots, + Belive in me, Slash albums + Jap. imports with extras + Gilby works + Izzy's River. :) |
