Title: In addition to Chinese Democracy being released ....
Post by: GnR-NOW on October 14, 2005, 05:08:23 PM
I would also like a Live cd from the 2002 tour covering all the songs they played including OMG and Rhiad.

No. Just the album at 9,99$. Cheap price. With a cheap price, it will kill the downloading and the sales will be giant.
I hope CD will sell more than 1 million copies the first week (worldwide). 400k in the US and 600k in the rest of the world. a #1 album of course.

Its not gonna happen. Its ancient history. I think that will be a forgotten moment in time by GNR. We're more likely to see a new live cd/DVD of old GNR than we are from "new" 2002 GNR.

I'd say all parties involved would kinda like to imagine that 2002 never happened, with the riots, cancellations, etc. and especially now that Buckethead is gone. Still, I think it'd be a great album if they took the best version of each song on the tour. I'd kill for a Pro-shot/produced/mastered dvd of one of the shows...

whats up with all the negativity on this board.we,ve waited this long so why quit now.axl could of kept this whole thing completley under wraps (even the band existing) and then one day just sprung the album on us all,but then what would we have done to pass the time since 95,nothing.

You're not asking for much, are you?  Fans have waited 12 years for Chinese Democracy!

I dont understand all the negativity regarding the 02 version of GnR, the songs that i've heard sound amazing.  I heard some good versions rocket queen, nightrain, madagascar, nov rain ... i thought OMG from RIR3 sounded amazing.  All Im saying is like the Live Era CD, take the best tracks from the 01/02, and sell it.  Theres no reason we can't get the Vegas 2001 show on dvd.  I would guarantee that if they released the stuff from 01/02, it would sell better then the live era cd and the use your illusion dvds.

I hardly think so!  I really don't think the majority of people would accept that.  I think a lot of people see GnR for what they were, and not some convoluted version that exists today.

I don't think so, the whole world is waiting for Axl and theres nothing that'll touch it (CD) for years.

I really think things will turn around in November provided Axl wins a big victory in court.

yeah, but who would you kill?

I don't want anything from 2002, but it's fine with me if they release a live DVD from the tour after the album comes out. that would be great.

Do you think theres a possibility that GnR would release a dvd kind of like the vh1 behind the music only with the new band, that goes in depth on their solo projects and make them seem like they had important business to handle in addition to recording cd?

I would like to have a dvd from 2002, but even more I would like to have a dvd from the early days with some extra stuff on it. Or how about a dvd like the Ramones - Raw? I think that would be awesome :peace:

I really couldnt care less if a DVD from 2002 was released, I already have lots of bootlegs. If you ask me, Axl should dig deep into the vault and remaster some classic shows in 5.1 audio..now that would be an orgasm to the ears. How about the Ritz show, or the legendary Paris PPV?

why is the overall attitude toward a 2002 dvd, or anything from that time so low?  They did a really good job on the old songs, and did a good job of introducing some new material.  I think that they way the tour ended left a bitter attitude toward everyone, but the music wasnt bad.  And it is tough to say how the tour wouldve ended if they played out the rest of the dates, the MSG show was from what i heard was the best show, it was sold out ... so if they wouldve kept it going and ended it by just playing out the shows, then going into oblivion again ... would material from that time be more desired?

GNR-Now, the answer to your question is NO. Nothing was really accomplished with that tour. It was basically a rehash of late80's GNR but with a new supporting cast. Axl offered up some new material, but it was only a handful of songs and we didn't get a glimpse of any of the "Big Guns" he talked about. Plus, the setlist was the exact same every night. The tour wasn't promoted well. Too many empty seats either shows not many people knew they were touring or not many people cared. Factor in the no-shows, etc. by Axl, and there is even less interest in GNR 2002. If Axl were to release an official HOB or Rio DVD, it would fail miserably. We would be the only people who buy it. IF he ever decides to release a concert from the 2002 era, it has to be after CD. But after CD's release, I dont see the point of anything from 2002 ever being released. Unless its like a bonus disc or something.

Where have I read your comments about OMG/2002 tour failing before?  :hihi:

I will agree that it's unlikely the band will bring out anything from the 2002 dates once the record and tour is out. I think in order to market the album and tour as "Axl's comeback", they'll want to limit reference to the 02 period. Some will still be sceptical but if the album is definate, people (maybe not us die hard fans) will soon forget about that period. I think Axl can get away with the events of that period and still be successful and gets lots of hype for another comeback.. if it happened again.. maybe not.

HOB would be an awesome release for us fans and would sell some copies. Commercially though, I think they'll market the next appearance (with the album release) from Axl as THE comeback, not the HOB or Rio dates.
